    A nice truck. I could do without the automatic tailgate. I have become a fan of the 2.7 turbo as on paper it is all I need. If I ordered one or bought one off the lot I would want the towing package and bed liner and that should do it.
    Great review.

  • @johns818
    @johns818 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The beefier 2.7 refresh is still 160 lb lighter than the 5.3 and that weight difference completely changes how the truck handles. It absorbs bumps much better, breaking is much more responsive and cornering is significantly improved.

    • @johns818
      @johns818 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jimbell3242 No it doesn't.. ride quality is determined by spring rate and shock dampening force.. not weight. Semi trucks have an extremely bumpy ride, so much so that the cab is suspended from the frame with their own shock absorbers.

    • @honda116969
      @honda116969 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You better not take any passengers or your wife with you because it will make the ride so harsh or the brakes might not work or the handling could be so changed you might wind up driving off a mountain so yes it's the perfect truck with the four cylinder as long as you're the only one in it but if you have the 5.3 l V8 you can bring your whole family to enjoy it with you with perfect handling breaking and ride quality 🤷

    I have to say I would rather have the 5.3 but the truck itself is great. Thank you for a solid presentation.

    These things are not without problems. I work in a Chevy dealer so I hear everything.#1 complaint is MPG around Pittsburgh with its hills the 2.7 turbo gets as low as 12.2 mpg yep worse then a V8. The base transmission is that 8 speed, those things blow up so often that we call em the Destruct-o-Matic. It’s not a question of if it blows but when ( it’s so common we keep at least one trans on reserve at all times). Next is the lack of dealer installed extras. Those tube steps, bed liners and floormats? Dealer installed so your steps staying on is dependent on the tech that bolted em on. ( any add on you buy it’s dealer installed btw). Then there’s the wait times which are all over the place. We can’t get you exactly what you want unless your willing to wait a while for it. Lastly the lease offers on these trucks is not very competitive cause dealers are trying to build up used inventory so they’re offering low mileage 20,000 over 24 month leases to try to force the vehicles back onto the lots. The last thing is pricing GM has pretty much dropped the regular cab short bed Silverado and they’ve dropped the Uber reliable 4.3 V6 and 6 speed auto to start the base prices at over 30k. Like I said I work for a GM dealer and I drive a Toyota that should tell you all you need to know

    • @joeraptor1
      @joeraptor1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. It's too bad that GM didn't turn that 4.3 V6 into a turbo version and put that in their 1500 series. The 2.7 seems more suited to the Canyon/Colorado or SUVs. Has GM ever admitted what is wrong with that 8 speed transmission? My dad's 19 Silverado has it and it's been a disaster. I don' t think that transmission will last long. Dealer keeps saying all is good with it. Meanwhile my 2010 Sierra with 6 speed and 5.3 just keeps rolling along with very few problems.

      Sadly, Toyota has killed their V8 in the full size pickup with the only choices being a TT 3.5 or Hybrid 3.5.

    Is it just me, or does the undercarriage seem to have no skid plates or other protection? I don’t plan on doing any real off-roading, but I do spend time in the woods on dirt roads.

    Was looking at this for someone that needs a truck. Overall, I think I’d still recommend Ford. My 3.5 EB has tons of power, good mpg, and I think I paid 5k less for my 2020 than this with more features. Fully loaded xlt version. Smaller screen, but that is the only downside I can see. I have also towed over 11k with power to spare.

    • @thomasmcghee2468
      @thomasmcghee2468 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see no problem recommending Ford but you can’t compare what you paid in 2020 to current prices as all brands have increased since then

    Do you know if the LT is the only Silverado with the column shifter or if all these LTs have that shifter? What’s its 0-60? Do you even think this’ll get up to speed without even slowing down traffic any?

    • @VehicleVisionary
      @VehicleVisionary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the RST also offers the column shifter but no other trim level with the new interior offer the column shifter. As for getting up to speed, no problem at all. It has more than enough power to get down the road with ease.
