i think the issue with corvus is an even more extreme version of the geraldo issue: due to the very high skill ceiling, if the hero is balanced in a way where it is good enough for the average player to use, it would be incredibly overpowered when correctly min-maxed. on the other hand, if its balanced around being min-maxed correctly, it would be far too weak in the hands of a beginner.
Ehh tbh he isn’t even that difficult to play he’s just inconvenient and annoying to play which is why he isn’t used but if people actually took the little time to micro during the match he’s not that hard to use
I do think its funny how the effect 'snowballs'. Dropping all your towers on 1 and 2 means you need more help on those rounds, meaning you drop more towers on 1 and 2 meaning you need more...
You have to plan ahead. This doesn't really affect planned runs where you know what beats what round. Only casual gold border runs mainly affected probably.
I don’t think Corvus is a bad hero, it’s just you have to constantly micro him to make him useful which is just not how I like to play or many others like to play, which is why people think he’s not good. For people who play btd6 more chill, he’s not a hero that will be used much as compared to heros like sauda who you can smack down and do very good on most maps.
Agreed. I've been messing with him on chimps and he's insane for save-ups. He can solo pretty much the entire midgame with good micro, with a little support for blimps. I think he's quite strong.
As a player with under 50 hours of gameplay, Corvus is extremely fun to use once you understand what each of his moves do. His spells are reliable thanks to global targeting and can greatly help out if you know what your struggles are. Etienne plays out similarly: Both requires support but Etienne can handle swarms whereas Corvus can help you deal big damage to certain boon types. Both are versatile and cannot carry themselves alone far without other high dps towers.
I actually tested Corvus on this map and was playing around with his spells when he froze. I clicked on the one that regenerates his other spells, he said his voice line, and- froze. So I was confused about that for a bit.
i love that theyre trying new gimmicks for maps to make them more interesting or harder - stuff like geared and covered garden were contest winning maps but their gimmicks are rad. midnight mansions space limits making bigger towers only work on the dressers is rad. freezing towers is a fun idea. heck; bloonarius primes weird track changing on prime numbers too - i love when they try new stuff to change things up and im glad they dont limit it or even mostly do it on easier maps which would definitely be the easiest thing they could do
i would love a map with a growing plant that has multiple stage over the 100 rounds. basicly a seed, when it grows it take anytower placed on the seed and elevate it. it grows leaves as elevation. the tower on the seed keep going up next stage on a flower that also act as elevation. and then a single pistil lift the same tower one last tim but no aditional plateform. as every stage happend a suspended bridge is shot from trees acros the map and a new path is added. every new path is untargetable for anything below it. the last one even goes above flying units like phoenix ace and heli. unlike the slide in the water park map the path doesnt block sight they are just inaccessible. Thats my idea.

It seems that if you are not mindful of the freezing mechanic, it could lead you to a vicious cycle where your towers freeze and then drop more towers in the same round just for all of them to freeze again in the same rounds.
Heli gets frozen but will still push back bloons and moabs combined with ice and skpikes you can do a pseudo stall strat on those rounds where the heli gets frozen, it's pretty good
Post 50's you can reliably leave Agression and Spear on without losing any mana since there's so many bloons. Plus if you time his lvl 3 and lvl 10 correctly you can do some insane combos. Personally my favorite is, for late game dps use echo followed by the nuke ability for complete MOAB destruction.
10:28 Corvus can buy Archmage by this round on Ravine. 34k saveup and it happens before 60. Of course, this run doesn't make much use of Corvus and still makes it to 30k saveup... In my case I would have had a Corvus black border on this map last night if I had remembered that AMD doesn't protect 025 spact from frozen bloons, but I didn't, so after I struggled trying to replicate it I just went with Sauda instead. For some funny starts: Ninja can beat round 6 with some micro, then with any extra damage tower can beat round 7 and 8 (Beast Handler requires micro for 8 to hit a green but was my preferred choice due to AMD later), then gets Ninja Discipline to hold all the way through 13. Druid can upgrade itself to 110 and beat every round through round 10, and can beat round 11 but only if you exit out to main menu and reload the save. Sauda solos through round 14, though you want to add defenses before 15 to stagger freeze times. I'd consider the map Advanced, freeze timings are harder to work around than DC/Infernal lategame but every phase of the game is easier than every true expert map. A major quirk of the map is that it's hard to play on your back foot; if you place towers when your key existing defense is frozen, your new towers will get frozen on the same cycle and in 10 rounds you'll be back at square 1. Oh, and you want to place the alch on the same cycle as what it's buffing. Alch buffs still go to frozen towers, might as well have both freeze at the same time.
13:35 Corvus stall potential is crazy with repeal + frozen, i was doint a 2mp with him and every late game round i was hitting the ability use cap for him and not even using 50% of the length of logs (had only him, moab glue, gluestorm and a mib until round 98, where i had to get an AZ and extra support)
Corvus is really weird, if you don’t know how to use him or forget to use his spells then he’s pretty bad, but optimally he might be the best hero in the game, except it’s extremely hard to use him optimally
Corvus is the epitome of a skill cannon. He requires even more micro than Geraldo but he has some of the highest potential in the game. (Although I'd argue that Vengeful Sun God Adora on non-Chimps is the strongest hero in the game.)
His micro is ez but constant he can fill any niche or two at the same time for free he can solo a bad kill 63 or 76 he can freeze or push moabs and crush any round his only weakness is the player
Thankfully I wasn’t spoiled I played the map and Corvus instantly when the update came out and had so much fun testing the two out. Corvus is such a fun hero and I really love this map! It’s height areas are so cool and the obstacles! Also the freeze effect is great! I really love those little gimmicks that make it harder and fun. I love how for an expert map it’s pretty long yet there’s really limited space and can’t use a sniper to use the length either which is so great!
btw the level 10 can be used as a great way to get levels without stopping his damage output. Unlike the level 3, the level 10 has a lingering effect that gives a huge amount of mana if Bloons are popping near him. So you can drain him, pop the lvl 10, refill to max, level him up, and max out the mana again, all while keeping up his Spear + Aggression He really can stack alot of spells at the same time. Spear + Aggression + Storm + Frostbound + Echo and just keep spamming lvl 3 and lvl 10 to recover mana.
Even without hot keys, I would love to be able to double tap to enable / disable spells. Saves a lot of hand movement and makes things faster, which is really important for a micro intensive hero.
It was really cool to see how corvus worked here. It looks like his strength really comes from his wide utility over raw damage. Though he has a lot of that too.

Modded challenge run you could do on this map is maybe when a tower turns to ice it just becomes an ice monkey while keeping the number of upgrades the original tower had
Trouble is, ice is TERRIBLE against moab class when unsuported. So you'd basically just sell and treat the mechanic as a money sink. Unless you mean a temporary transformation.

The main challenge is that you only have 10 rounds with any tower that you make before it disappears, but when it disappears it’s not totally useless. Overall it might be needed to be done on an easier map but idk
Definitely easier than a lot of the expert maps. In that I was actually able to beat it on hard without following someone's guide on the second try, though i had to escape out to main menu on numerous occasions. Glad i got geraldo when i did, since he can be parked somewhere unimportant instead of one of the few precious good-placement spots and buff towers that aren't currently frozen so you aren't buying towers that'll be frozen at the same time as your currently frozen towers in 10 rounds.
One thing to note is that Ice Monkeys don't get frozen so one option is to use ice monkeys as your main tower, issue there is that white and zebra bloons will kill you flat out.

Having 0 space, 0 range and a small path so bloons don't have to walk much till the exit seems not enough in NK's eyes... Also, putting Corvus in the start of the path saved most of your time since that lets him farm mana much faster

Can you try a similar challenge where any monkey you place will only lasts for lets say 30 rounds and they would be sold for 0 dollars then. So you need good monkeys, but also need to think about future investments.
Corvus is insanely optimal, honestly had less effort in managing- gameplay wise- for a win. Just focus corvus and money becomes almost unreliable compared to his abilities.
I may be the worst player in the world at this game, but from me experience, if you are struggling with your best stuff getting frozen at the same time, just try to place new towers when most towers are not frozen, if you place stuff to help you already frozen towers, they will freeze at the same time and you will be kinda screwed

Comanche commander and defense are pretty good, bcs the small helis are not frozen, so they can still push back moabs
so Corvus takes the bloons’ souls and PoD takes their bodies
making full use of the bloons

I actually completed it before you just when it came out and i also used perma and spirit of the forrest and heli seems to work quite well for me
Having 0 space, 0 range and a small path so bloons don't have to walk much till the exit seems not enough in NK's eyes... Also, putting Corvus in the start of the path saved most of your time since that lets him farm mana much faster
Corvus is really good i did a 2mpc with him on resort i used echo+overload and az to clump the blimps up on r98 and it nuked everything except the zomgs

Not sure how the freeze works, but it'd be fitting if the towers that are hot(phoenix, inferno, sun avatar, sauda) also inherited the freeze immunity ice monkey has

I liked the part where corvius says “it’s corving time!” and spreads his corv fluid all over the bloons
Can you try a similar challenge where any monkey you place will only lasts for lets say 30 rounds and they would be sold for 0 dollars then. So you need good monkeys, but also need to think about future investments.
Corvus is insanely optimal, honestly had less effort in managing- gameplay wise- for a win. Just focus corvus and money becomes almost unreliable compared to his abilities.
Curios if sub radar scanner would work when frozen
Cuz its *technically* a projectile code wise so will it just stop?

I may be the worst player in the world at this game, but from me experience, if you are struggling with your best stuff getting frozen at the same time, just try to place new towers when most towers are not frozen, if you place stuff to help you already frozen towers, they will freeze at the same time and you will be kinda screwed
