    I returned my GoPro and got a DJI instead. What I disliked about the GoPro was how difficult it was to transfer files from the camera to my Mac. I gave up on GoPro when my GoPro 10 was overheating while I was freezing on a motorbike at -5 degrees trying to record something. I was like this works better as a hand warmer than a camera but way too expensive hand warmer. Their last good camera was 5 black. I still use it and Sessions 5 as a backup but wouldnt even bother wasting my time trying out any of the new models. Got DJI osmo 4 and love it from day 1. Mic connected directly to camera with no expensive adapters, special cases etc and all for reasonable price.

      had hero 7 and 8 but got the 11 mini as it was the first gopro with the 8:7 sensor so can crop 9:16 and 16:9 from the same footage which is great not having to film twice. but the shadows are mushy even during the damn day if you dont use the lowest frame rate and shutter to match. it's a joke of an exposure balance they use in these cams an is way behind dji.

All i saw after that was tiny improvements and a lot of problems, all my friends where getting newer gopro models every generation and what i saw was battery problems, overheat, bugs and strait up crashes and turn off and never turn on for hours etc etc...
      I do Downhill mountain biking and my Session 5 still does good enough footage for instagram videos and since it doesn't have as good stabilization as the newer ones it feels more real life "fast"... battery barely gets through a day of riding nowadays but it's good enough! GOAT!

    I'm someone who bought each years' new gopro for a few generations and then left because they weren't becoming as good as they always should've been. The crowning part that pointed out their incompetence was their awful, unchangeable file naming. I forget the specifics, but it restarted the filenumber at Video0001 over and over, so footage couldn't be unloaded onto other drives without being renamed, or they'd overwrite each other. It was bizarre. I switched to DJI and the filenames are the date and time, so they can always be unloaded and will immediately be in order. It was a sign that no one at gopro was actually using the cameras. Ever. Not for the first 10 gopros at least.

    • @jasondashney
      @jasondashney 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You don't sort your footage into folders? Each session I have just gets sorted into a folder of that particular day. Everything stays nice and separate for me so I've never had that problem. Also, which one restarts the naming convention? My names are very different from Video0001, probably because I use an older GoPro. I find the cameras absolutely incredible and indestructible and so to the people I know who use them, so I'm really surprised to see this much hate coming to them. I don't know about the latest generation though. Mine are from the old style.

    I bought a Flip handheld video camera a few months after I bought my first iPhone 3g. When the 3gs came out with video recording, I was able to sell my 3g and my flip and by the 3gs. Admittedly gopros are more rugged, but they needed to excel where smartphone cameras didn't since gopros are super unreliable. Insta360 is killing it now, and dji

    DJI was more reliable. Go Pro never give attention to their processor And try to milk out max out of their processor. This lead to freezing and glitches. The picture quality in GoPro is better than DJI except low light performance. No its fight between insta 360 and DJI

    I tried GoPro back in the days of the GoPro 3. I bought a Black and got a White edition free from a technology summit. The White killed SD cards while in a waterproof case. The Black never had an issue, but I learned my lesson not to buy anymore of their crappy, prone to kill SD cards, and somewhat decent image quality after this experience. As a result, I will NEVER buy a GoPro every again.

    Action cameras are still very much a niche product. It’s just not that big a market. Consumers will buy what they need once every 5 years. Professionals still use GoPro extensively because they own all the mounts and accessories in the ecosystem. However, professional video is a small market. GoPro quality is still just OK unless you’re shooting outdoors. Even then, it does not match proper pro gear.

    I gave GoPro a shot 2x. First was the GoPro3 or 4. Constant issues with sound. Then a few years later I got a GoPro Hero 10 Black. Overheating on a cool day outside of direct sunlight, overheating at home, batteries lasting 30-45 minutes, batteries swelling up inside the camera (original batteries mind you), stupid design of the sound mod, will not work with many aftermarket sound tools, awkward to use and secure, sometimes the cover will not release, randomly it will just kill sound during a recording or freeze for no reason. Absolute overpriced junk. Will never buy again.

    Very good vid! You should add in how GoPro "stole" tech from Contour that put them out of business. I know a few execs as i was sponsored by them. So i had no choice and got a GoPro6. What a failure that was. Then i splurged and got a new 8 when it came out. What? No detachable lens?! Sorry but they really shot themselfs in the foot. And it was managed by an exec who stole from within. Good job sharing that by the way.
    If GoPro gave sample units to those in the field like myself i could've pointed out every flaws in a few weeks. From cliffs to lava flows & huge waves & coral reefs i transverse some extreme areas at times. A good test for lighting, reflection & refraction, shock absorption to salt spray clogging the entries (my #1 worry). My Contour3 Black is still going by the way. It was built well. From water reflection to overcast refraction in light to dark backgrounds it's many ways better than a GoPro, but not in everything though. Good Vid:)

    I think stock price and product retail price crossed over 10Y ago. Once they got competition they crumbled. they simply bet on the wrong horse. Their product prices are so insane, that competition was better, whatever product you needed, and need today. I buy only used gopros, when I can. I know what I get, all the issues, all the pro's and con's. It's for the first time cost effective, and they can be used as intendent. not like an overpriced new from retail.

    GoPro was a one-trick pony that thought it was way too cool to innovate, try new things and tried to push its revenue driver to subscription services. It was Peloton before Peloton was Peloton. DJI expanded with innovative products and took GoPro’s market while many people kept using their phones for video purposes.
    If anyone is old enough to remember, flip cameras failed the same way

    gopro won't go bankrupt! several sensible companies have shares in it! Besides, the company should not exist since 2018! and as you can see, it still works! However, the company has some flaws, but even though they haven't been addressed, the products are still selling! it is also not as innovative an entity as the competition! and this is the biggest surprise for me! The company is a bit stagnant!
    I have a few ideas myself on how to hook up a GoPro ~ there are actually ways to do it! Besides, I have read several times that the company is for sale! it has a huge brand, but this segment (action camera market) is probably past its best!
