  • After last time's devastation at the USA border, we arrive in beautiful Golden Ears Provincial Park (Just above Vancouver, B.C). It was a little frosty and the shower facilities were closed since it was winter, but it basically left us with the park to ourselves to enjoy at least!
We enjoy our first home cooked meal in the RV since we had been putting off on getting groceries until crossing the border originally, and get to work on planning what to do to wait out winter until we can RV all across Canada in the spring (and perhaps reattempt the US border as well to see some parks on the way out east). We have officially settled on AirBnB-ing in Thailand and Bali in the end. So still sunshine and adventure coming up soon!
After waking up in Golden Ears we headed out to explore a little and took in some of the scenery. First stop was Alouette Lake which was awesome, I can only imagine how busy this place must get in the summer being only a 20-30 minute drive from such a large city center. From there we packed up our site and headed back out of Gold Creek campground and stopped over at Mike Lake as well. It was a nice little walk around the lake and it had a good sized fishing wharf as well that had 2 different groups use it, so it may be a fairly productive fishing lake too.
We then showered up at Anytime Fitness in Chilliwack and set up for the night in the Walmart there. Waking up we had a lovely sunny day driving up the Highway #1 through the Fraser Canyon Highway and took in some spectacular views. If you ever need to drive to or from the lower mainland and you have an extra hour, the drive is a nice change of pace and you see some completely different countryside and get a much more casual drive than taking the regular ol' Coquihala which is rather dull and also a little steep on the RV.
We made a quick stop at Savona on the way home and picked a cactus, which they are known for and were able to find some with Alysha's detective skills even in December! After Savona we pulled into the Truck stop just outside of Kamloops which had a completely separate side of the lot for cars and RVs. It was actually a really nice spot in our opinion and the Walmart in Kamloops does NOT allow overnight parking either so if you are passing through that way the truck stop with the Denny's attached is the place to be. We even shared a chocolate peanut butter milkshake that she split into two cups for us as a yummy night snack to settle in. Next morning we woke up and finished the last stretch and arrived back in Salmon Arm.
It is looking like early January we are heading to Thailand now so stay tuned for that new chapter in our lives that we will be vlogging and sharing as well. Sorry to those of you who were hoping for more RV content. We sure were too buying this fella just to have to store it over winter but what can you do when the border won't budge and Canada is going to be far too cold and snowy to make the trek across... But in spring we will be coming back to full time RV living again and exploring ALL over Canada. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Maritimes and island hoping out that way. We've both only been as far east as Calgary basically haha.
Thank you all for the continued support we have received. We thought up a fun little way to show our appreciation giving shout outs to those of you who comment on our videos on the end screen you may notice as well. Basically anyone who comments on our most recently posted video will be added to the "credits" as a thank you for support at the end of the next new video we make. We really do appreciate the likes, comments and subscribes as it shows you all out there are enjoying the content which motivates us more! In Thailand we're hoping to do at least 2 vlogs a week with all the content we'll get and then maybe some extra videos on top of that for 7-11 food hauls etc.
Take care everyone, happy new year, and see you in 2019!

    Woooo scary stump! haha
I must say you guys were lucky at that time the weather wasn't blizzarding. That would have changed plans some! I once gathered some of those cute little cactus from the Penticton area. I potted them in some sandy loam in a terra cotta pot and just left them outside. When the weather gets extra cold and snowy, I just put them on my deck. I've had them for years now.
So continue on your journey and enjoy guys.
    Liking the vids!

Thanks Alan, glad you're here with us!
Yeah thank goodness the weather was so mild for December atleast. We were worried about crossing the Coquihalla as it had called for a big snowfall the weekend coming up so we made sure to come back before that hit too. Game plan was California asap if we would've been allowed in haha.
We were sent pictures of the cactuses back home too and they've grown so much already. Fun little find, I had no idea they grew near Penticton too though! Good ol diverse BC eh haha.

I just remembered... the one time I ever went to Mike Lake, my muffler fell off the beast of a car I was driving on that road in! haha
If you haven't done so before, a nice scenic drive with good camping opportunities is the Okanagan Valley, from Salmon Arm all the way to Osoyoos. Some great beaches and swimming are there to enjoy with scenic views at every turn. Sure glad spring is around the corner, I've had enough of the late coastal BC winter of early 2019!
      Cheers Luke and Alysha!
Enjoy your travels and stay safe 😺

Attack of Mike lake road. Yeah we had to take it nice and slow in the RV with everything rattling around haha.
The Okanagan is definitely beautiful too, drove the Salmon Arm to Kelowna stretch many times. Kalamalka lake is amazing. Looking forward to springtime camping!

I like watching what food you guys make in the RV. Now you are giving me the itch to buy a RV too! What does the PCC on the thumbnail stand for?

Oh really, that's good to know Alysha has been wondering if people still liked the cooking segments but we have heard some good feedback on people like it, thanks! Yeah not going to lie the RV lifestyle has been super fun so far. I find it crazy that with a pension or something coming in people could retire and do this full time and see so many crazy places. It's actually more affordable than owning a house/rent. Also good eye on the PCC, when we first started our channel we were actually "Pacific Coast Couple" and then later decided it was just easier and seems more normal now to just use your first names so we liked that and switched. Good catch!😁

I'm considering rv'ing Vancouver Island this winter...would you guys say that it would be warm enough to do this?

    • @LukeandAlysha
      @LukeandAlysha  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hard to say, we've never been on the island in winter. You should be able to search the average temperatures for the area you plan on visiting though to get an idea! Safe travels and good luck!🙂🍁

I'm born and bred Victorian. If you stay on the South Island, it rarely gets below 5 degrees. Not going to say never, but its rare.
