Love the correlation between skating the bank and surfing. You did a great job showing the changes in body position from skating to surfing. Narrative, edit, and skating was awesome.
Adventures in Skateboarding At 40 Plus thanks man!! Appreciate you watching. I’ve been experimenting with some different styles. I always get anxious about showing it 😂 glad your comments started showing, stoked to have you as part of this community
Lmao that intro bro... Happens too often here on the east coast man 😭😭 Awesome video my dude! Thanks for the skating tips, definitely stoked to get it a shot. great shots and editing man, the story telling is awesome on this one
Yeww! Thanks for watching man. I’ve been keeping that story telling premise in mind since you mentioned it. You gotta get a surf skate bro, I know you’d love it. Stoked to see how the half pipe turns out. How’s that coming along?
Hi from Australia...surfed since 6 and am 51. Skated for just as long however we dont have sick places to ride like skateparks and bowls where i live. We have year round good to great surf...and also have to deal with flat days...sometimes maybe a week.....usually in summer. thanks for the tips. I'm taking my 51 yr old butt to the skatepark across town to try your tips regarding the 5o/50 and the coping. Thanks.Age aint stopping me, i keep fit and only eat healthy.Just purchased an Esk8 as well....its crazy fast and feels like surfing and snowboarding all together.Stay safe man.
Thanks for the message Stephen! That's sick that you're still getting out there to chase stoke where you can find it. How has the skating been going for you? Mindsets like that are a huge inspiration, stay stoked my friend
@@WorkForAvocados .. thankyou.....skating is going great, using your tips...advancing slowly. No falls 😁😁.....surfing everyday as well or a swim in the ocean.....keeping fit is worth it. 😁😁😁🐬
Sherif El Kadi you definitely make the most of what you got though man! We don’t have any hills here in Florida so there’s no sort of downhill scene whatsoever.
@@WorkForAvocados hehehhe no body is ever satisfied with what one has :) We all have to thank God for what we have no matter what :) Peace man! May peace be with you.
Bro, that's the claim!!! I need to start skating. Me and my daughter have been talking about it. This vids getting saved for future reference!!! Your camera man filiming in front of you when you first hit the park is a savage!!!
Dude! Get a surf skate. I swear by my Carver board. You can have a blast in your driveway just pumping and carving around. It’s such a good way to practice surfing on those flat days 🤙🏼 great way to bond too He is a beast! He got that in three tries 😂😂 thanks for watching man, I’m stoked you liked it. 🥑 Let me know if you have any questions about setups
Todd Euliano just a term for any of those boards. Carver, Swelltech...there’s a new one out called the Waterborne adapter. Haven’t gotten to try it myself yet but I’ve heard good things. You can even buy the Carver trucks solo and throw them on any board. The C7 carver truck model is probably the “Surfiest” while their CX is more of a skate hybrid. Just starting out and for pumping around the neighborhood/driveways I’d go with the c7s
OriginalJud nothing like a good skate run. I like how the more modern ones have coping so you can really throw some hits on it. Where’s your local park at? Always looking for new ones to add to the list
St Pete skate park is close to my 🏠. Smaller but has some nice features. Campbell Park is the location near The Trop. Skate and then skate over to a baseball game.
Just found your channel through the content bug (cathrin manning) and I gotta LOL. Once i saw your channel and a few of your thumbnails I IMMEDIATELY knew this was Jax. Jax girl born and raised! 😂😂 North Florida life!! It’s memorable for sure. It’s a great place to grow up, glad it could bring back good memories for you. Best of luck with everything Sarah, thanks for watching!!!! 🛹🐊
Adventures in Skateboarding At 40 Plus 50-50s are definitely one of my favorites. If skating was a language, I think 50s would be the comma. Linking everything together. Especially fond of front 50s...although I get hurt the most on them 😂
E Wilkie I’ve got one! I usually do it for intracoastal runs. My inflatable doesn’t do that great in waves haha. I actually did a video about paddle boarding to work recently too
I am really interested in knowing your suggestions about how to go about learning to generate speed on a midlength surfboard as a beginner. I can pump well on a surfskate, not wiggle, but actually compress and extent, I can climb relatively steep hill and I can feel the pump, I can also handle a good amount of speed on a bowl and on a beach skate park. But I can't yet feel it in the water after taking off. Any suggestions on how to go about learning this skill? Thanks! I use a How, meriaki trucks.
Hey there, sorry for the delayed response. I would say a big part of surf skating is being able to replicate the conditions of where you’re surfing. There are some big ramps at my park that I love skating and can do huge turns, but my local break is usually 1-3 feet so the practice doesn’t carry over perfectly. I would say try to find something that matches the steepness of your waves and really try a single maneuver again and again until you feel you can continue your momentum after the maneuver.
Thanks for creating these videos. Just discovered your channel. Do you change out your wheels and n your carver boards ? I have a Knox carver that has the softest wheels for parks so instead I use my land yacht for bowls but would love to use my carver instead. Any pointers in setting up your surf skate for park riding?
Hey Chris! I actually do have different wheels. Ideally I would have two boards If I could as I do love sidewalk surfing. For my park setup, I go with harder wheels as I like to do a lot of FS power slides on the coping. It’s a much harder thing to do with the soft stock wheels. It really comes down to your own personal style. I ride a 10” Chris Miller Welcome deck as I feel it’s a great hybrid of old school shape and modern function.
@@WorkForAvocados Hellz yeah, he's basically my little brother, I took him on his first surf trip to Nicaragua. We gotta get together for a surf sometime. Our squad usually hits up the 5th street area for high tide sessions.

Does anybody have the problem of surfing regular and skating goofy lmao. I grew up surfing and skimboarding regular footed and anytime I was on a skateboard as a kid I rode it goofy footed. I surfed way more and now that I moved into the city for college I wanna get back into skating and it has been super hard trying to integrate skating into my surfing capabilities as I had learned to ollie and do hill bombs as a goofy footed skater which I don’t think is helpful as a regular footed surfer. Any body else have this issue or got any tips? Thanks for the video I already know imma just end up having to ride switch on the skateboard to get better at surfing through skating.
Sorry for the long response Kanon. I keep mine relatively tight compared to a lot of riders. I think when you’re in the park going at top speed, every moment is much more exaggerated so they don’t have to be as loose as when you are going a slow speed
WorkForAvocados sometimes, we had one month of good swell, I woke up at 6 every morning to surf with my dad next to the west pier, tons of people out, just doesn’t happen often, usually people surf everyday at this harbour wall we have, not perfect but it works.
If you skate like you are surfing, it will help your surfing. but it will NOT help your skating. this is important to understand. surfing does not help your skating at all.
I do agree that in the other order it isn't as beneficial. I would say that it does help being able to eye a target and prepare for that but you could argue that's more of a mental thing than anything. thanks for the comment
