Knowledge is beautiful, Thank you Dr. Carr, I listen more than one time, because your so thoughtful and thorough, and professor Karen Hunter contributes depth, both of you complement each other’s insights with love
Thank you, Prof. Hunter and Dr. Carr, for this AWESOME ICWC (E.#220)!! We can always count on you both to share, educate, and elucidate each time we meet.👏🏾👏🏾 And, Dr. Carr made it extra special with his scatting and, in the process, takes us down memory lane (with all the musical ancestors he brought back to life, lol😂). Love it!! We appreciate you both, and thank you immensely for what you do for us!! Blessings, y'all!! 🙏🏾🖤💯
And blessings to you!! Deeply grateful that we have this space to share and be in community. We are strong and guaranteed even greater strength when we are together!

I am watching this a week later. I had no idea that the Stax documentary was a topic of discussion because I watched it last week. Loved it! The ancestors make no mistakes.
Please watch all of the Stax doc. They give firsthand, behind the scenes stories. It's a legacy that is important to know and remember. It's also a museum now.
Hey Fam, I watched The Stax documentary. I loved it when James Baldwin said that "we don't want anything from you. We just want you to leave Us alone. "
Keep it pushing! All your knowledge and fortitude that you bring to the fore for 'our' people, I deeply appreciate. Truth fills me up! I share every episode I listed to to. Thank you Karen and Dr. Karr. You're invaluable to our people and culture! God bless you! Keep it pusing!
Once again thanks professor K.Hunter and Dr.G Carr we know that America has a selective memory they remember the things that they want to remember others they sweep under the rug. One of the worst mass killing of our people's East Slocum Texas 1910 worst than Rosewood worst than Tulsa Oklahoma and Springfield. The suppression of truths. As Dr. Carr says let's dance tell our history collective memory. Love you guys. Sankofor 🌍
Slocum, indeed. We mentioned that white violence in the context of other moments such as Greenwood when we discussed Tulsa at greater length a couple of years ago. Selective memory indeed!! Thank you for joining us!
Did you see the kids dancing in sheer ecstasy in the stadium. "The Funky Chicken" And the beautiful talented Harmonies of the blood sistas " Hutchinson's singing in Acapella the classic "PEACE BE STILL" now known Simple as the (EMOTIONS). Don't Ask My Neighbor!
There was a point where Professor Carr said something that made me think, if Univision and its sponsorship of Latinidad was a problem to the social structure, the billionaires would destroy it before it became successful. tlaktl tlahtoa 🙏
It's time 4 us to join A.D.O.S and be united before the presidential vote is made I can surely say these times r 4 us 2 shine as bright as the SUN 🙋🏿🙋🏿🙋🏿
Gee Whiz! Did you know that Carla Thomas actually attended both TSU and Howard? I’d love to hear a follow up discussion about the rest of the documentary and your thoughts on the last few years of Stax, beginning with the Watts Stax event (which was a singularly beautiful day) until the demise of the company. I certainly would not say the stories of the beautiful melanated artists who brought us the beautiful music is “trash”. That’s the lens the director (a melanated woman) utilized. I actually think she was so reverent of the Black musical contributions that she didn’t ask the hard questions, or perhaps she intentionally left some parts out. I’d like to hear a return to this discussion After you’ve actually viewed all four parts of the documentary.
On point Dr.Carr! My best teachers and my children’s best teachers were BLACK - and at predominantly Black schools!!’ Yeah. You should watch the doc, Doc. Why are you wondering about the documentary and criticizing it, without having seen it?
Alot of black descendants of slavery feel like true freedom is not reachable yet until we come together for the sake of our future generations 🌎🌎🌎 the investment is just needed for ensuring we are not 🚫 before establishing the new way of living for all BLACKS starting here in America...some of us deserve a peaceful life ...while here...an given undoubtedly to our YOUTH
Did not our ancestors have ancestors? And what exactly does beginning and anchoring and centering the past few years in the racial narratives and settler violence of the perpetually unsettled US state shape the way we view ourselves and move in a never-disconnected world? Thanks for taking a moment to comment. And grateful you’re in this space.

There’s a separate conversation that could be had about the propaganda that was and probably still is in children’s programs.
