Good point! The "Peer Review" process among professors that continues to cause so much discrimination within Academia can now be best rivaled by the "Live Chat"...when there is a collective agreement to what is responsible responses to what is being said and/or done. For example, The Apollo Theatre was definitely a precursor of African-centered "peer review". At the Apollo, the key to Excellence became quite clear visually and audibly....and when necessary, there was that dastardly physical "Hook"! 😅 Today, what is our "hook" to our understanding, demonstration, and preservation of our Excellence? As Dr. Carr so passionately reminds everybody... and I loosely paraphrase, "It cannot be just about the celebration of a few 'token celebrities' into the big house! That "A-Train" has left the station...itz retired, and waiting for the nano-laser 21 st century HOOK to clean up the tracks! People....get ready! Yay-Boh! 💖

Great THANKS from this Light Sculptor in the Show Me state for the work you BOTH DO before the unblinking eye of the Camera for 250 sessions of verbal flossing for our Souls! Each session of conversation refines my hindsight with each trip around the Sun. I have come to an abrupt stop for the rest of the year professionally. Thank you for giving illumination to a more narrowed focus of Doing as I am rethinking the way I plan to move through our shared Season of Glass in 2025.

You can’t be Nikki Giovanni with a mouth full of garbage spewing out about beaches and hills and nunyahs! No Sir. Elders have to draw the line. Our freedom is not dependent upon HIP Hop fads and cultural moments. Salute to Kendrick Lamar. BUT As Yasmin Bey sang so well: “ it’s not about Hip Hop.” They must come correct. As a man or woman’s mind goes so he or she speaks. I’m not lowering ANY ancient pristine standards for young people who don’t even know what they don’t know. We won’t win like that. IMHO. ❤

Black Americans need to stop thinking this country is one it is not the same for black people you have two systems one for white and the other for the rest of the people all this talk about crimes and criminals playing on people emotions etc is a waste of time if we are going to make it as a race of people from what we know and see black nationalism is the only answer

    • @RonnyThomas-v7q

Dr. Greg Carr mentioned Tim Tyson, the author of "The Blood of Emmett Till." In 2014 I wrote an article after reading Tyson's "Blood Done Sign My Name." Opened up with a prayer from Tyson's dad, the Rev. Vernon Tyson: Let us pray. Oh, Lord, we pray your blessing upon all those who lived and loved and labored in this place; for those who poured out their gifts on land that could never be their own; for women who birthed babies unattended; for children whose genius went unacknowledged; for all your children who cut cane and sweated in the hot sun, and knew in their bones there was a better place. And we ask your peace and your healing for those on this bus whose cheeks burn with tears and whose eyes have been seared by sights that hurt them deeply. We ask that these pains of love might bring a harder wisdom. And we ask your help, Lord, that we not become prejudiced against those who are prejudiced, or whose prejudices may not be our own. For we acknowledge and confess to you that we, too, like the men who once owned Destrehan Plantation, have been tempted to love things and use people, when you have called us to love people and use things. We ask your complicity in these evils, and in the evils of our own time, and pray your healing for our hearts. Thank you for the love that binds us one to another; and to our homes and families, and to you. (Vernon Tyson - Blood Done Sign My Name) Sometimes you come upon something so beautiful that you have to share it. The above prayer was said by Rev. Vernon Tyson in 2001 to a group of college students (University of Wisconsin, Madison) who went on a two-week bus trip through the South. They visited battlefields of the African-American freedom struggle and met local people who helped overthrow old Jim Crow laws and practices. Vernon Tyson's son, Timothy Tyson, wrote "Blood Done Sign My Name," and the prayer appears in the Epilogue of his book. open.substack.com/pub/clarencegainesii/p/a-most-special-prayer-loving-people?

Please do a segment on Bkack antiwokeist. The term "woke" was always a simplistic term for the slightest display of Black self respect and a label used to dismiss any attempt to tell the truth about global white supremacy and its consequences, one being internalized racism. Thomas Sowell, McWhorter, Ayan Hersi, Candace etc Black folks telling Black folk to create boot straps to pull themselves up with while rocking those donated by massa. No coincidence most married to Europeans. Wonder what Amos Wilson would have to say about them. I suspect he'd dismiss them and not give them time of day

Please Google "The Kansas City Defender", a Black-owned media outlet, for a local perspective on Missouri Governor's commuting the sentence of the police officer convicted a Black man in his own yard. This was the first time in the 145 year history of the KC Police Department that a white police officer was convicted of killing a Black person. It should be noted that the conviction was upheld by the Missouri Court of Appeals. The white prosecuting attorney opposed the Governor's action.
