I have said for 10 years, our ADF numbers are one quarter of what they should be for defending our coast, and territories. If the Government truly wants the ADF to be bigger and better they need to start from the top down. Remove the leaders who are only there because of their mates not because of their skills and experiences. Cut back on the fat the rest will follow. I know a lot of Veterans who have served or are still serving along with many young people who would serve if it wasn't as disorganized and toxic at the top as it is right now. The Media also need to play their part and not be so critical of every little rock overturned by a serving member. People have failures we are all human but if our Military is ti become a true fighting force able to defend our Nation then we need to get it cleaned up.
Considering how the Australian mainstream media and politicians portray firearms, its no surprise the general public don't want to sign up for the armed forces.
The one thing killing the ADF is wokeness and DEI. A defence job is a heavy commitement, and nobody wants to be in defence force that prioritises "ticking political corretness" boxes, rather than actual defence and combat training.
Why bother? The bonus's aren't what they used to be and the cash isn't with it companies to other option's. 6 weeks away from families for basic training. Then your stationed away from home for say 3 years. Or do two weeks on one off in the mines for 3 years and come out with double the cash in the same time period.
What would you be defending? The welcome to country ceremonies and the recognition that the elites state that we're on aborginal land. Whilst they're theoretically out "defending" Australia, at home their families and friends are at risk from the new Australians.
Why would you want to give your life for a corporate profit. You have to swear allegiance to the current government, not the Constitution and the Australian people.
Maybe if the standards weren’t so damn high, more people would be joining. I swear, it’s like they expect you to already be born a soldier. Like, if you want more people to join the army, why not recruit people and turn them into soldiers instead of turning them away for minor reasons. Beggars can’t be choosers

Seems a quick fix to a much deeper issue. Wait when those subs come, the cash bonuses to anyone working on those are gong to be huge and a massive strain on tax payers, let alone now what we are doing.
Your comment is offensive and out of line. Many of the Uber drivers you're mocking are hard-working migrants who have made Australia their home, contributing to its economy and culture in countless ways. To dismiss them as "imported" shows a deep misunderstanding of what makes this country thrive. Let's get the facts straight: 1. Migrant Contributions: Migrants, including those working in various industries such as transport, hospitality, and healthcare, contribute significantly to Australia’s GDP. Their labor helps keep the economy running smoothly. 2. Skilled and Unskilled Labor: Many migrants, including Uber drivers, have high levels of education and professional qualifications. They often take on jobs below their skill level while they work their way up in a new system. Disparaging them does not change the fact that they are contributing more than most people realize. 3. Citizenship and Rights: Many of these drivers are Australian citizens, and they have every right to work and succeed in the country they now call home. Labelling them as "imported" dismisses their humanity and undermines their value to society. Rather than degrading people for their work, maybe consider the sacrifices they’ve made to be here and the strength it takes to start fresh in a new country. Everyone deserves respect-especially those working hard to provide for themselves and their families.
@@0Mrblaze0his talking about the imports, we are importing to many people to sustain our country, you and the people who I very much certain you voted for are the reason we have a recruitment crisis, because we the Australian people don’t want to fight for a government that hates us and bends there knees to a minority that hates us Aussies. Good luck to those upcoming CPLs and SGTs.
Mate they fuc$& over a lot of guys who were retreads keeping them at CPL or below so the specifically didn’t have to pay retention bonus. I can’t say this any more nicely the politicians and top brass are a complete pack of self serving dogs!
40000 not enough should be at least 2500000.
I give you $40,000 for your life lol
Instead of listening and reacting to the responses, they throw our own money at the issue.
It's in the name, ADF and we haven't had a defence force in years. We have simply followed the US and been thrown under the bus.
to fight American wars😂🤠
😂😂😅😅😅
Based on lies and payed by taxpayers for corporate profit
Tell them they're dreaming
Applications can take up to and over 3 years to process.
I served 1958 to 1986 27 years retired as a WO1,2years in Malaya two ours of Viet Nam,most of us thought there should be bonuses for ree engagement The Americans have done this for years they had a bonus for tours of duty.I do not believe that an ex corporal should be advising the government ask some retired SEnior NCOs,s.
realy?
Focus on drone operatives instead of cannon fodder and maybe you'll get more recruits. Warfare is changing and defence needs to change along with it.
My point too as a General. 😅😅😅
No one should be cannon fodder for the bloody Americans.
Look at the Gaza holocaust, don't you think taxpayers giving corporations more money for drones maybe is not the answer?
china has a billion people and drones 😂 and is our biggest trading partner.
@@WillC-s5q that is beside the point, foot soldiers are useless against drones. that is why nobody wants to be a foot soldier anymore.
@@ETERNALCYCLES and look how many went to fight for Russia, barely any. Nobody wants to be cannon fodder even when the pay is exceptionally high because you have to be alive to collect it.
Hmmmm I have a physical disability and they won't ever give you chance. Plus having Autism will mean you get vilified for been quiet 😢
I tried to enlist twice. in 2008 after I graduated high school, they said I didn’t have enough “team spirit”
FYI in terms of purchasing power (I.e., what you can actually buy with the money), Russian soldiers are getting paid the equivalent of >200k USD per year. (And yes they are actually getting paid, and no they aren’t all dying).
I have said for 10 years, our ADF numbers are one quarter of what they should be for defending our coast, and territories.
The fact we fly 70 fighter jets, have no carriers, and one combat soldier per 14kms of coast line, 1 tank per 1000kms, one jet per 1500kms ( with a. Range less then that !!!! )
Iys a joke
being a soldier is not a job or career, its a sacrifice
People are waking up and don't want to die and fight for the motivations of the corrupt politicians.
Jackie Lambie is right I did 15 years in the army and most of the officers I worked with, you would not put in charge of collecting the trolleys at Cole's
Nice of them to cut the retention bonus by 10000 for retention lol
A limited time frame on senior positions to prevent any deviation from what's appropriate
Hi, satellite weaponry is being used on me, I’m trying to join the adf as an airforce medic. Please can I have assistance.
Can a foreigner with permanent resisdence visa apply ?
Best Australia invest in good relations/diplomacy rather than warmongering.
Ukraine tried that. Look what happened.
@@allengonch4067Ukraine are flogs
@@allengonch4067 no they didn't. Ukraine has been in a state of civil war with its own citizens who live in the east ukraine since 2014.
Tbh they can’t be that desperate for people, I’m well educated and fit and reached out asking for more info and they just sent me a link to their website to apply. Was dumbfounded because I thought they’d be more than happy to have a 1-1 chat about what they’re looking for and what I’m looking for.
For me it’s money and leadership
Jakie nailed it 👌
Demography? Nobody even talk about.
The one thing killing the ADF is wokeness and DEI. A defence job is a heavy commitement, and nobody wants to be in defence force that prioritises "ticking political corretness" boxes, rather than actual defence and combat training.
Law after 18 years old....its mandatory to be in the army for 2 years.
Its good discipline for the young generation.
South Korea do it.
Problem is it sounds good but when it is taxed, not so good.
Need to have compulsory military service for all males/females leaving school.
You are taxed on that bonus, it ends up being about 26k, for 3 years so that's just over 8k per year, there's easier ways to make money!
Ultimately, political power comes out of the barrel of a gun.
wonder why!
I hold a stop sign for $50 an hour and I'm 24. Why would I want to get paid less to do more?
blame DFR they are terrible at employing canidates, and when it comes time to enlistment most people have moved onto better things
Yeah & because its a lump sum the tax is a killer
You can fix the problem of retention easily
Bring back the pension after 20 years of service
180k a year for a tradesman or we work at the mines
The issue is people don't serve to make money pass off to the mines , join for the fight and for the country,
The project could run positive stories for the ADF instead of labelling them constantly as at war criminals.
Of course the retention bonus will be taxed at the top tax rate...
No. I don't know.
I will
Why would you want to give your life for a corporate profit.
You have to swear allegiance to the current government, not the Constitution and the Australian people.
So, rather than address the source of the issue, throw some cash at it, and hope it suckers naive people.
But all that diversity?
Thats half the problem
Australia doesn't have a shared culture anymore
Soldiers don't want to take orders from an Officer that decides to wear a dress on Mondays then wear mens attire the next day, its a complete joke.
Maybe if the standards weren’t so damn high, more people would be joining. I swear, it’s like they expect you to already be born a soldier. Like, if you want more people to join the army, why not recruit people and turn them into soldiers instead of turning them away for minor reasons. Beggars can’t be choosers
Nope…. You give us a reason to fight and will sign up.. you know what you have to do ADF
I tried to get into the army 5 years a go I did the computer test and apparently I failed the test so didn't except me am African I want contribute to Australia and defend Australia but they reject me
Jacque can you stop up to as defence minister maybe we may get our armed forces back on its feet again if I was 40 years younger I’ll go back in the army in a heartbeat 🇦🇺
Taxpayers will no doubt have to fund this idea.
Extend that to ppl like me (43) and I'll sign up tomorrow.
I can't even buy my own house here. Why would I die for my country when millions of immigrants keep buying houses and pricing me out of having something worth fighting for.
You have to watch out on why you are getting a bonus for staying. If that doesn't say something about the culture of the ADF, not sure what does. I am not really happy my tax money is gong to this. Seems a quick fix to a much deeper issue. Wait when those subs come, the cash bonuses to anyone working on those are gong to be huge and a massive strain on tax payers, let alone now what we are doing.
Maybe they should try to recruit in Nepal like the British
Maybe enlist some of those imported uber drivers?
No one will fight for this government. It is everyone for themselves at this point! Pay the rent and survive.
Your comment is offensive and out of line. Many of the Uber drivers you're mocking are hard-working migrants who have made Australia their home, contributing to its economy and culture in countless ways. To dismiss them as "imported" shows a deep misunderstanding of what makes this country thrive.
Let's get the facts straight:
I wouldn’t fight for a government that is pro censorship.
