I think we should move on from the band members related issues. There are other questions like, I) how his music evolved. His melody and pattern in the 60/70s is different from 80s ii) He is now a professor of music, how is the experience? What does he teaches, iii) what are his composition style and practice, iv) a type of juju is now called Obey style, what makes a music obey style? How does it evolved?
I agree with you bro, like how do they get their inspiration back then, the geniuses or talented in their bands, how they learn multiple musical instruments etc
Spot on brother! I have reiterated that on this platform. KSA & OBEY are accomplished musicians and should not be brought to the fore to start accounting for how and what happened between them and their former band members. It is disconcerting, to say the least. This men have brought glory and pride to Nigerian music at a period where there was no social media. The juju genre was the first to haul the greatest price in word music- Grammy. We need to know how these men did it. How they managed their band and they were able to attract and enlist the services of the best instrumentalis. My one cent sir.
This interview revealed the following: • That one has to listen to all sides involved in a saga before arriving at a conclusion. • That Obey is a deep and wise man who took cue from situations of the past • I love the great word of wisdom imparted to him by his father; Be cautious to speak, be cautious to see, be cautious to know. • That the show and the business should be separated you can’t mix both. • That joining a band means you have something to offer and not vice - versa. • Lastly that Obey is at peace with himself. I’m sure King Sunny Ade’s experience would not be too far from Baba Obey’s. Well done Agbaletu…🎉🎉🎉
Baba Ebenezer Obey is a complete gentleman. Looking at him alone touch me a lot. I learn a lot from this interview. He is a well accomplished man. We all need to be extremely patient in life. Thank you so much for all the evergreen musics you produced in our lifetime.
When l,was playing with tolu obey and we're rehearsing in obey house, one day daddy make a statement that when you are on assignment ,God will always bring right people to make things more easier and successful till today in my memories and I, believe in that statement till now.
I grew up as a teenager to be a lover and diehard fan of Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey since late 70s to date.. Commander Obey is a living music legend ...Long life Commander..
Baba Obey Commander! Your music is my favorite and I emulate your attitude. You will live long 🙏 for us. Agbaletu Dele Adeyanju JP you are too much. More strength to you. Amen 🙏
Well done @ Agbaletu for bringing Commander Obey to us again. Wow! God bless Commander for remaining gracious to his former band partners and boys and for clarifying so many matters and allegations made by some of those people. As I always say, "where you sit not only indicate where you stand; but also what you see". Commander's report of Segun Awe abusing him as being "ugly" then is incredibly laughable. Agba ti o binu ni Omo re npo. Segun Awe calling anyone, especially Commander "ugly"? That only showed how immature, disrespectful and hot head he was then (he still is, going by the way he comes across in recent interviews) and he clearly didn't look himself in the mirror. He needs to. Wax on our Great Commander. Your memory is amazingly vivid for a man of 82.
I'm a big or die hard fan of Chief commander Ebenezer Obey, he is my first choice in Juju music, please talk to Chief commander on our behalf to help Alagba Vasco Da gama move his bolojo music on CD , we really missed his bolojo brand of music.
God bless you agbaletu.. Pray baba live long and hearty, happy to see him, no wonder his albums are evergreen, I really love and respect baba Obey more, this is what KSA and Kwam1 should have done too, to clarify things, all this didn't bring anyone down but it for your fans and future generations. It's well, we all know what we are doing though!!! I give it to Agbaletu and Ejire Nigbati, pray you live long to reap the fruits of your labour..
I love commander so much , he played all night at my father’s funeral in 1990 courtesy of the late MKO ,please Agbaletu I want this live play on you tube. I will pay whatever am charged.Chief Akikunmi SHOYOYE the Are Onakankanfo of Ilawo in Abeokuta.Agbaletu please kindly do me this favor and I wil forever be grateful to you.
Baba obey is a good father and leader.....he has used this medium to clear so many issues bothering on both band members and music as a whole.....long life baba obey....
I like Chief Ebenezer Obey personally. I love his music and songs! May God bless him and descendants forever and also his band members who helped him produce those evergreen musical outputs which will never be outdated at anytime. His music will last endless generations
Golden advise from Baba Commander. For all those who speak and spread negative information about Baba Obey commander may the Lord Almighty forgive you all. Long life and Prosperity in good health Sir.
Agbaletu, thank you once again for bringing Chief Commander Baba Obey here. I still remember some of his music with nostalgia as my late dad played his "Araye o e bami jo ....Ogoji odun ti mo ti n babo". Emi baba maa gun ni alaafia. Thank you Agbaletu!
Well done Dele Agbaletu for a patience-driven interview session you had with Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. He has prayed for you that '' O ti ga na, oo de ni jabo.'' So shall it be in Jesus name. Waiting for fresh interview with KSA.
Chief Commander Olabiyi Ebenezer Obey🎉 Long live in sound health Sir. I enjoyed your musics & will still enjoy it more IJN. Agbaletu, you are an ICON 👌👌👌👌
Agbaletu, when next you meet with Baba Obey, please do ask him for the name of that Oyibo onile keji, that shouted fa fa fire fire ki panapana to de....
Baba chief commander Ebenezer obey God bless you sir Long life more in Jesus mighty name I can remember does days, kin mama alaso nta to yegba dani abewere nje lasi ni,2aimasiko londamu eda oo oro milowo Oluwa lowa 3Iya olomo mobae yo ire akari gbogbo wa,eseo tiwa na adeo amin God bless you to internity
Agbaletu, great job all round! You are amazing at your job! Deep knowledge of what you are interviewing for! Amazon rhythm, the accurate tone for each of the questions, I dove my hart for you brother. Baba Obey is the most calmest person on this planet! May baba live long in good health.
Baba Commander I have respect for your wisdom and calmness. Your style of music is healing to many souls! Thank u sir. Alafia .ni fun yin o, Lola Oluwa.
Very insightful! Towards the end of the interview, the iconic OBEY himself talked about music composition. We'll like his to talk more about this in subsequent interviews. 😊 Agbaletu, congrats! 💐
Great interview with a great man of honour. Baba KSA should also do his teeming fans to grant this type of interview to clarify lots of lingering issues.
This interview will be a reference for live of CEO in music, the interview is loaded and you could see him, how he gave answers to the questions, and even willingly talk about many other stories. You see, when senior people like CEO shook their heads, sometimes close their eyes and then pause before they respond, to your questions, you better listen to learn. Please work on a date with KSA and Chief Obey at the same table, it will definitely enlighten generations. That will break the internet, and I really pray it happens soon. Good job, bro!
Hey. Agbaman. This is a hat trick; a coup. First Baba Onigbinde, now Baba Evangelist! Owo e a ma roke. But sha, you have to sort out your audio. God bless you brother!
Dele Adeyanju, u resemble Baba Commander hooo, remember l told you when I first met you @ Methodist High school ilesa... hope Ebenezer obey songs are your favourite like mine?
Your page and work, have keep me accompanying every day. Keep the good work, your interviews have been the best of all, and they will stand as best of all time.
From my own personal experience in music, I deduce that Baba Obey drew musical inspiration from other talented musicians ; e.g. EMI YOO GBE OLUWA MI GA and OBLADI OBLADA 2. ORI BA YE MI and Rex Lawson's JOLLY PAPA; 3. ENI RI NKAN HE by Obey and ENI RI NKAN HE by Ambrose Campbell.
Can we have another interview with Baba Obey where you talk about his music.Thats what most of us like and relate with Baba since our early days, not all about disgruntled band boys, even Baba’s late wife Juliana, how did he process the loss, his music is probably the most evergreen in the history of music at least in Yoruba land, and personally it brings back the memories of my late father as I remember his music on our gramophone on sallah day, what an icon, what an institution, together with King Sunny ade and fela anikulapo kuti, there will never ever be this talented musical trio that will reign for so long and still be relevant even up till todayic
@deleadeyanju - You did an awesome job with this interview. I noticed Baba was more reflective, and he was sharing the wisdom of unconditional Love to be applied in all aspect of our lives. I will suggest you have a live show (a sing-along) with Baba where he sings to an Agidigbo beat system. We will do our part by donating to Agbaletu tv and Baba online.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ! Accusations by former band members against their band leaders should stop ! In any professional or occupational group one finds himself, it is extremely important to remember the future and plan for it. Blaming your woes on band leaders is untenable . A cue can be drawn from the amiable examples of the 3 pioneering band members from Akiko Area of ONDO State . They obediently and wisely took to Obey's counselling as regards acquiring a piece of land to build a house.
Obey is deep and experienced. I’ve loved him all my life and I will continue to love forever. However his attitude to the band after he left the band was not good enough. Maybe the offshoot band, using the old music (which they were part of) were not giving him royalties like the other guy that was giving him 200k. His defense was weak. However it’s one of those things. We are all human as he’ll want to defend his legacy. The boys would not label such accusation against him if there was no iota of truth. All the same the interview was great. I respect obey for ever.
This is good move by Agbaletu. Please extend these opportunities to some other leaders who might have been similarly accused though I hope they will avail themselves of the opportunities.Weldone
Baba was actually right about the akoko connection. I know all of them I grew up in d same area in egbe. Giwa arigidi n Lawrence olowonyo's children and my childhood friends
Agba letu, O unbere question bi omode. O se maa but agbalagba pe onu to some ti eniti o soro ba gbo to ko gba in a big. That is not good enough. Human being is complex, some people have dead conscience. Even when they are reminded of certain bad situation in which they are involved they will never admit. Asking baba Commander that question is insulting but being a good man he did not even count it
Agbaletu, I realized you have not talked to or interviewed Elder Vasco Da gama concerning his bolojo music career and we are looking forward to that, please make it happen.
Life is funny. That man, Sikiru Adepoju who hails from Eruwa in Oyo State went ahead to win Grammy. "Sikiru Adepoju won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2008 for his contribution to the title album of Mickey Hart's Global Drum Project at the 51st annual Grammy"-wiki One big issue that I see here is as a leader, when you have potential leaders or apparent leaders as your followers, there is need for a special management method.
Hi Agbeletu l do appreciate all you doing as regards to the music industry, most especially the juju and Fuji music.l feel it’s a great opportunity for you being able to seat to interview legends like Evangelist Ebenezer Obey and King Sunny Ade.l personally would appreciate if you could talk less of his band boys and do more in-depth interview of their personal life and the impact of their music.Chief Obey and King Sunny Ade are gradually getting old and l hope you are in a better position as a good journalist to assist them through your interviews to get their works well documented.Take care my friend and may you stay blessed.
Thank you sir. If you observe, this discussion is set for Baba to tell his side of the story against what some of his band members have said against him. That's how Baba wanted it and he must be given fair hearing. On his personal life, you can access my 2018 and 2023 interviews with him. I appreciate your comment sir.
The question is, were you fair to them? There should be a written agreement. I hope the upcoming musicians can learn and do the right thing. Musicians are the boss, no doubt but the drummers and others deserve to be treated well. It is a collaborative business.
Evangelist Ebenezer Obey.Baba even at 82 you are handsome. How many men can look like that? Envy and jealousy is what is disturbing them. Your achievement in juju music and music in general is second to non. You recorded over 50 albums all of them successful. One of Thiers was not successful. Don't mind detractors. That is how they're.
Should have dedicated this interview on his musical origins history big opportunity to have access to this big psalmist a true shinning star morning star, scandal free longevity
Agbaletu, you still need to do another interview with BABA OBEY again to ask him HOW HE PREACE his fans. I really enjoyed the interview with God bless you 🙏 ❤️ ☺️
Agbaletu is gradually written his name on gold
Will become an evergreen like baba obey....thumbs up sir
I think we should move on from the band members related issues. There are other questions like, I) how his music evolved. His melody and pattern in the 60/70s is different from 80s ii) He is now a professor of music, how is the experience? What does he teaches, iii) what are his composition style and practice, iv) a type of juju is now called Obey style, what makes a music obey style? How does it evolved?
I agree with you bro, like how do they get their inspiration back then, the geniuses or talented in their bands, how they learn multiple musical instruments etc
Yes. Also how were their experiences abroad? What was life in Nigeria like back then?
But the band boys are given wrong impression painting the band leader bad and the people are believing it
Spot on brother! I have reiterated that on this platform. KSA & OBEY are accomplished musicians and should not be brought to the fore to start accounting for how and what happened between them and their former band members. It is disconcerting, to say the least. This men have brought glory and pride to Nigerian music at a period where there was no social media. How they managed their band and they were able to attract and enlist the services of the best instrumentalis. My one cent sir.
My man, you're very wrong. That's means you're supporting all these band leaders to be cheating their band boys?
This interview revealed the following:
• That one has to listen to all sides involved in a saga before arriving at a conclusion.
• That Obey is a deep and wise man who took cue from situations of the past
• I love the great word of wisdom imparted to him by his father; Be cautious to speak, be cautious to see, be cautious to know.
May Almighty God bless OBEY for his wisdom.
Hear baba voice @82 without instrument ......Long life baba
Baba Ebenezer Obey is a complete gentleman. Looking at him alone touch me a lot. I learn a lot from this interview. He is a well accomplished man. We all need to be extremely patient in life. Thank you so much for all the evergreen musics you produced in our lifetime.

How many JuJu musicians, including their band members, are as handsome as Baba Obey ? Does Segun know the definition of ugliness ?
I'm a big or die hard fan of Chief commander Ebenezer Obey, he is my first choice in Juju music, please talk to Chief commander on our behalf to help Alagba Vasco Da gama move his bolojo music on CD , we really missed his bolojo brand of music.
Likewise me too
From 60s to date
It might interest you sir, that Alagba here is not the same as Vasco Da Gama, the Bolojo crooner. They are two different people. Thank you sir.

DON’T let ego……what a good advice from commander to band leaders. A man who has seen it all. He who has ears to listen, let him listen.
Baba Commander I have respect for your wisdom and calmness. Your style of music is healing to many souls! Thank u sir. Alafia .ni fun yin o, Lola Oluwa.

Njemanze sir. Iwegbue from kwale
Great interview with a great man of honour. Baba KSA should also do his teeming fans to grant this type of interview to clarify lots of lingering issues.
Israel Njemanze, Ayinde Bakare, Ayinla Omowura, I found stories online about but could not find Charles Wigwe/Nwigwe.
Very good interview. Thumps up Agbaletu
Mr Adeyanju ,l am so proud of you as regards to your response to my comment.
Take care & more Grace .

Another masterpiece. Dele, more grace.
Ebenezer obey was so truthful about being evicted. David Olaleye was evicted for behind his rent payments.

Hey. Agbaman. This is a hat trick; a coup. First Baba Onigbinde, now Baba Evangelist! Owo e a ma roke. But sha, you have to sort out your audio. God bless you brother!
Agbaletu, you are so dynamic. Bring sunny Ade too.
Agba i Like the man too much since i was living at Clifford street Alago meji Lagos Thank's Agbaletu
Thank you so much sir. We're trying to meet up. I believe we shall get there.

Check my last two interviews with him dated 2018 & 2023. Thanks.
True. I watched those interviews
Please who knows the Title of that song Obey sang for Sunny Ade ?
Sunny Ade, Sunny Ade mi o. Please who knows the title 🙏
Don’t move from band members stuff dats the main thing for outsiders like us everything revolves around dat. Carry on bro!❤
Please who knows the title of the song he talks about the fire incident abroad.
Keresimesi Album.

In 1986 or so there was a song which you sang sunny ade also sang same but with different tempo

Obey is deep and experienced. I’ve loved him all my life and I will continue to love forever. However his attitude to the band after he left the band was not good enough. He does try to but some of them like KSA are elusive and incredibly difficult to pin down.
I hope Baba can allow us soon sir. It will be a great opportunity.
Baba was actually right about the akoko connection. I know all of them I grew up in d same area in egbe. Giwa arigidi n Lawrence olowonyo's children and my childhood friends
The Band Leaders should have just laid out a signed contract and put the Band Boys on a salary. That would have settled all these controversies.
I was hoping you would ask about how he composes his songs( Does he writes or he just sings). Also, how he felt when he heard about Oke aminu’s death.
Asking baba Commander that question is insulting but being a good man he did not even count it
I'm certain he hasn't complained at least to anyone. Amo ese.
Agbaletu, I realized you have not talked to or interviewed Elder Vasco Da gama concerning his bolojo music career and we are looking forward to that, please make it happen.
Same names but not same persons.
Fasco Da Gama, the bolojo/juju musician, was an Egba man from Ijeja, Abeokuta.
He has the fear og God from the beginning .No wonder he succeeded
KSA should be next. One can easily tell Obey is an honest man.
Thank you, Thank you and thank you 😀😁👍
Agbaletu is encyclopedia of Nigeria musicians
Life is funny. That man, Sikiru Adepoju who hails from Eruwa in Oyo State went ahead to win Grammy. "Sikiru Adepoju won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2008 for his contribution to the title album of Mickey Hart's Global Drum Project at the 51st annual Grammy"-wiki

I appreciate your comment sir.
Segun Awe said something that when he was doing launching Nobody showed up. I think that was the major bone of contention between him and Baba.
The question is, were you fair to them? There should be a written agreement. I hope the upcoming musicians can learn and do the right thing. Musicians are the boss, no doubt but the drummers and others deserve to be treated well. It is a collaborative business.
Commander.... Your music is evergreen. E pe fun wa o... Baba Obey

Don't mind detractors.That is how they're.
Baba Obey is a true reflection of Good Man. His humility is a top notch and worthy of emulation in this our generation.
Onipetesi is located at Agege iloro. Baba can’t even recognize there again😂 we learning…Agbaletu carry on.
