Coach, I play almost morning. The problem with your video lessons is that when I watch them I have the urge to go on the court and apply your lessons :D Thank you for making this available. It has been very helpgul with my service returns.
I'm sure Patrick would also tell top level boys that the very short cross angle is a relatively rare shot. For the most part, top boys and pros aim for very large targets. A soft hand feed like these is one thing, trying to hit that angle on an actual match play ball is quite another. This would be a relatively rarely used shot when given a perfect short ball. The boys who aim for larger targets with less angle consistently win matches. Seen so many juniors hit these amazing 'hero balls' in practice, but then go into a match and get stomped due to way too many unforced errors.
Returning the ball in a short angle has a higher risk of going out, and it’s difficult even for pros. But, if you’re able to do with dependability, it’s a killer shot.
This shot can do well relative to an opponent hitting a volley (identical to the feed given), or an opponent giving you an approach shot (akin to the feed given). The more tricks in the arsenal the better when it comes down to creative aggressive play - one of the main ways to win in tennis (consistency/'grinder' being another)
Why? .. have you watched the many available tennis tuition channels such as Christophe Delavaut 'Tennisoxygen' - Ian Westermann 'Essential Tennis' - Florian Meier 'Online Tennis Instruction' - Will Hamilton 'FYB' etc. You have not researched to qualify your claim - there are many better qualified coaches that give proper tennis instruction compared to Patrick Mouratoglou who is a rubbish 'celebrity' coach!
@Dan-uq8rr > no single tennis coaching channel can qualify as the 'best in the world' since you would have to provide and qualify the research with statistics against other similar channels for effectiveness. Otherwise your opinion is only your subjective opinion which can be open to criticism.
This will eventually be the #1 Tennis instruction channel. An academy with hundreds of talented kids. A perfect environment to create instructional videos. Most channels have no students or the same one of two students.
Not likely! Players train at the academy with their own coaches - some stay for a week, others for a few months - PM does not have any long term students. Remember, Patrick Mouratoglou has never played tennis professionally - he has no world ranking as a player, never been on the ATP tour - he knows nothing about professional tennis. Other TH-cam channels give far better instruction from qualified coaches that substantiate their teaching methods through video analysis of top professional tennis players.
@@Chris_Sheridan I will have to research. My impression was that PM Academy was set up similarly to Bollitieri Academy wherein hundred or more high school students live, study and train there... It is true that PM was never an ATP player but he is a solid player. Better than Nick Bollitieri ever was. "Our Tennis & School programme offers our young students high-level academic and sports tuition, allowing them to combine year-round intensive training and tournaments with an adapted school curriculum. We need to evaluate every applicant on both their tennis and education levels but also on their motivation and mindset to make sure they are ready to join the Mouratoglou Team."
No need for this, let the kid have fun. Thousands upon thousands of amazing tennis kids around the world. Picking one that will be among the 40-50 we "hear" about on tour is impossible. A player has to get into the top 120 before they ever make a profit from tennis, a very rare feat. Never predict with kids, let them reach their level, whatever that may be, without pressure, expectations, predictions.
Ok, so if you stand a bit inside the court you take away time from your opponent and you get him in trouble. But if he returns deep then you get yourself in trouble because you are standing a bit inside the court? Started playing tennis 6 months ago so I may have no idea what I am talking about 😄
There are downsides to everything. In this case, the benefits of hitting angles while standing inside the court outweigh the disadvantages. Most of your opponents will not be able to hit deep consistently. Very difficult to do.
really depends tbh if they are hitting deep but high then that when u want to move back a bit but when they hit deep and normal height trying keep your ground on the baseline
.. but hitting 'hand-fed' balls is not the same as receiving a return from a practice partner on the baseline. This is entirely inappropriate for a kid of his playing level.
@@outrageousfacts576 .. no he doesn't - he's never brought an unknown player to a professional standard - he's tried to enhance his reputation off players who already have achieved something - Serena Williams was already a good player - she had 13 Grand Slam titles before she even met Patrick Mouratoglou and had an affair with him resulting in his first wife divorcing him. He is not professional - he has no coaching qualifications - I've seen his videos - he's useless - you know nothing!

I feel the same!
Informative video but can't see much the execution. Can the camera angle be a bit wider next time please?
Well done, Simona played an excellent game vs Badosa !!!
Thank you sir & teacher for nice information &tips
PATRICK IS IN MADRID , I JUST SAW HIM ON TENNIS CHANNEL TV😄 HALEP VERSUS ZHANG 🎾
he’s simonas new coach bro
Patrick, as always, wonderful tip! Is it more effective to start moving the opponent by the dawn the line shot or the other way round?

Good job explaining how to go deep down the line; extend out.
But need more explanation on how to execute the short angle.
Changezzz de camera maaannnn :) merciiiiiiii

The kid has the skills, Patrick. We`re surely will hear from him on the ATP tour in a few years.

Everything goes to physical abilities, stamina and decent health.
Even monkey can be taught how to hit this fluffy yellow thing.
I like the videos but the camera was too close. It was like a body cam
Cameraman was drunk
A little trick to hitting angles …
hit the outer corner of the ball.
¡Best of Luck!

No. Start simple, add in complexity. The basis for ALL instruction.
The camera operator, same as PM, has zero skills at his job.
@1:15 Patrick demonstrates his useless backhand that doesn't even clear the net - not only a useless player but also a useless coach.
You sure are Mr. Negative. He's a world-class coach; you're a nobody.
😂
He might not be the best at backhand but he knows how to coach
