- Director Om Raut & dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir's recently released film Adipurush has received severe backlash for making a mockery of the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. The movie, starring Prabhas as Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Sita, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, Devdatta Nage as Hanuman, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana, has already been banned in Nepal and it is also facing protests all across India too. Audiences have also criticised the dialogues which prompted the makers to revise the lines and re-release again. In a new interview, Om Raut has addressed the heavy criticism and negative reviews against Adipurush. He said that Ramayana is impossible for anyone to understand and those who claim to do so, they are either fools or liars. He said that they are not calling their film Ramayana but Adipurush because it is one section within the Ramayana.

The characters "Ram" and "Lakshman" had great bond as brothers. The plot of the villian was good. The female lead looked beautiful in saree and had good chemistry with "Ram". Overall, "Main hoon na" was a nice movie to watch 🙂

I’m a practicing muslim from Bangladesh. Even i grew up watching old ramayan in my childhood. I don’t know the depth but even I can tell the difference and odds in this movie. In this movie when Saif abducted Kriti she was wearing a pink saree but in Ashok Vatika she can be seen wearing orange....In reality when Sita Maa was offered clothes and jewels from Mandodari she refused to take them because the clothes she was wearing gifted by Mata Anusuya will never get dirty as long as she chooses to wear them.....Thoda saa toh research kr lete ye log.

Even as telugu audience , We can clealy say that prabhas didn't have look of sri ram at all, the great NTR immortalized lord ram in movies so much that you can't imagine any one else. In current generation i think it will match to only Mahesh Babu, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir kapoor or Ramcharan to some extent.Also director had crappy visuals, historical mismatches and even prabhas poor looks did not help , it was combined bad effort from all of them

All inaccuracies in plot of Adipurush-
1. Ram ji and family lived in a hut in a jungle, here they are living in a cave on a mountain cliff.
2. Ravan abducts Sita ji in front of Ram ji and Laxman ji.
3. Character of Marich was replaced by a regular demon soldier.
4. Jatayu turned into eagle, he was king of vultures.
5. Story arc of Shabari was completely changed.
6. Completely changing Sugriv and Bali story arc.
7. No last conversation with dying Jatayu and Bali.
8. Hanuman ji met a mountain and 2 rakshasi while traveling to Lanka, which was completely skipped.
9. Hanuman ji shape shifts as a monkey to go talk with Sita ji, but here they completely erased it.
10. Ram ji prayed to the sea for 3 days before getting angry, but here he didn't even prayed for 1 min.
11. Nal and Neel were not shown as architects of Ram Setu.
12. Angad's scene where he challenged to lift his leg was completely erased.
13. No rajya sabha of Ravan was shown, instead they showed a coalmine.
14. Vibhishan was thrown out of the kingdom by Ravan, but it doesn't happened here.
15. Battle happened in night.
16. Laxman ji drank a potion made from sanjeevani booti, but here he was bathed with it.
17. Meghanad does a yagya before battle, but here he swims in a golden lake to become powerful.
18. Meghanad use to hide in clouds and shoot arrows, but here he is flash.
19. Kumbhakaran use to sleep 6 months at a time, but here he was playing with Meghanad before the battle.
20. No conversation where Kumbhakaran asks Ravan to leave Sita ji.
21. No battle on battlefield happened, they directly attacked on their castle.
22. Kumbhakaran easily defeats Hanuman ji.
23. Sampati and Akshay (Ravan's son) don't exist in this film.
24. Whole family of Ram ji, including Bharat and Shatrugan are not shown.

First of all the term Adipurush itself isn't used to refer to Shri Ram, It's a synonym word for Lord Shiva. Secondly, when lakshman had gotten hit by Meghnad's arrow then he received treatment from Vaidya Susain, who was a well known Vaisya / Physician. However in the movie it's being shown that Vibhishan's wife Sarama treats lakshman. This is a clear distortion of Ramayana
depending on shaiva and vaishnava beliefs, Shiva and Vishnu are Adipurush respectively. Brahma Samhita says "Govindam Adipurusham Bhajami"

I find it really hard to imagine that the makers didn’t learn anything from the character of मर्यादा-पुरुषोत्तम Bhagwan Shri Raam - humility, grace, dignity. Rather their psyche reflects what Ravana stood for - stubbornness, arrogance & complete refusal to accept his mistake, which lead to his eventual downfall. घमंड & अहंकार तो शिवभक्त, परम-ज्ञानी, संगीतज्ञ, परम-प्रतापी रावण को भी ले डूबा था, तुम लोग किस खेत की मूली हो ? जय श्रीराम, जय हनुमान !!!
Thats one of the reason why SS Rajamouli sir did not dare to start mahabharat yet. It needs a lot of knowledge and dedication in making any Indian epic.

As some comments already mentioned, Prabhas is equally responsible for the wreck because of his stupid fees that he has been charging since Bahubali.

Why else would he charge so high for such an important film if it really meant anything to him?
It's not even about why he charged so high a fee. Considering the fact that he has taken a fee of Rupees 120 crores no one must believe that he had no say in the filmmaking process and was only acting according to the director's instructions. He must be held to be equally responsible. While reading the script he and all the actors must have seen a lot of red flags- cringe dialogues, wrong plotline, lack of the finer details mentioned in the original text of Valmiki's Ramayan and no character development. It baffles me none of those playing the main characters called out the director and writer at the stage of script reading.
The best Ramayan Movie to this date is the animated movie Ramayana: The legend of Rama by Yugo Sako in 1992 which is still one of my favourite movies and great benchmark for a protraying the character of Shri Ram.

The entire cast is the most at fault in my opinion. They had the choice to say no to this. They CHOSE to act in this script. Only SS Rajamouli or Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Mani Ratnam can do justice to such epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat.

The depiction in adipurush is insane. I suggest all to watch old telugu movies to actually see multiple references of our epics as you will definitely fall in love with characters played by NTR, Nageshwar rao, savitri, SV Rangarao and many more. I see everyone taking reference of yuvasako ramayan and ramanand sagar ramayan but believe me your images of ram, sita and be it any other character depiction.. You will fall in love with to watch the great actors of 1950's to 1970's .

Om Raut earned a lot of fame and respect after his wonderful work on 'Tanhaji'. It was a fantastic movie. But all that respect has gone for a toss after the disaster of Adipurush. Absolutely horrible.
And the same logic applies to Manoj Muntashir as well who earned huge reputation after 'Teri Mitti". But he also lost that respect after his ridiculous work in adipurush. Both these people have destroyed their own careers. They should definitely apologise for this senseless work

The two lead characters "Ram" and "Laxman" shared good chemistry and bond as brothers. The female lead looks pretty in a saree and had great chemistry with "Ram". Villain's look in the second half was odd. Overall "Main Hoon Na" was a full on paisa vasool movie.

I know right now the film is not in a good state but if they released it again with improvement by doing it in the right way according to the ramayana than it would be great. Also they released it early because of the hype, they should have solved the mistakes than re-release it by taking some time. Its not according to ramayana thats bad but there were few scenes which I really loved, not that bad (the scenes which I loved). ❤✌️

The reason why the CGI is poor is because they purchased “stock images” from abroad .. they did not commission brand new creative effort .. so that’s why it’s many CGI we have seen in movies abroad .. and the reason everything is grey black is because the details cannot be easily seen so even if it is abroad movies used CGI they can try to get away with it 😮

This movie has literally desecrated the Ramayana at it's core. Lord Hanuman who is described as one with Asht Siddhi ( Supreme knowledge ) is being shown in the movie as a comedic relief and speaks like a road side ruffian. Those three hours that I spent there was a torture for me. Disgusting !!! I wouldn't have been bothered by the nuances and the uncouth dialogues being used in the movie, Had they declared beforehand that the movie Adipurush is an action, adventure and supernatural genre movie, which has nothing to do with The Ramayana
