I started at 34 two years ago and though I did skate as a I only cruised could not ollie, drop in or even kickturn and stopped skating at 13 having achieved nothing. But now I can ollie up curbs drop in on pretty big ramps, do 180s and pop shuv-its and do 50 stall and grinds on transition and almost heel flip and a lot of it's been one of the most rewarding things of my life I'm so glad I made the deep dive instead of making excuses and I can now say I live without the regret of quitting skateboarding when I was a kid.
Yup thats where I am at! I know I am really rusty but now I have goals to aspire to now. Like that embarrassing not being able to ollie off a tiny ledge 😬 -Aaron
TH-cam just recommended me this video, Google is listening, I (31 years old) just started inline skating again with a goal to start agressive inline skating. seeing you guys taking up skating makes me feel less of a 'dork' for trying skating at adult age ;)
It makes it even more difficult cause in-line aggressive skating ain’t hot like it once was. And skateboarding is way harder too. I did both when I was in my teens and twenties- I can still do a kick flip and I can still do a soul grind… but sht man my ankles hurt
Hey kids you're in luck, while you were away they invented these pad things that actually stop your elbows and knees getting scraped!! (if you wear them).
Good job. I never was one for skateboarding, best i could do was coast down a driveway as a pre-teen. At 30 I bought rollerblades at a yardsale and tried it for the 1st time that was fun. At 50 I got back into bicycles for my 53 birthday I rode a 50yr schwinn 10 speed 53 miles. I even rode old stingrays around the neighborhood.
And yeh that’s why I stopped. The ankle. Messed it up on some stairs way back when and it stills causes me probs. Sht still hurts like f in winter. I started painting the parks (and other places) cause really I always kinda sucked at skating. I can still kick flip but I’m not doing any ramps again I don’t think. Maybe one day, with a wrist guard n knee pads
Good go!! Nope, no sucking there as you certainly got some great support there! Not something that I'll be starting in my 60's for sure though!! LOL Have yourselves a great week!!
I think for my first time in a decade I did pretty good, but I am definitely rusty. It’s going to take some serious dedication, but I am up for the challenge!!! -Aaron
Man, gravity didn't seem all that heavy when we were kids 😂 at 36, I feel like I have lead in my ass now, but going out to ride is still a lot of fun
That is something I never understood until I got here! Yes tons of fun, we are going to keep at it! -Aaron
