    3:33 As someone who started skating at 9, droped skating at 17, and back at it again with 28...
    The kickflip was my dream trick since young age and landing my first flip at my 30's almost made me cry(literraly) in the middle of the street
    That feeling is waaay to strong

      I started skating again this summer, dropped at 24, I'm 30 now. 360 flip was always my dream trick, and I struggled to land it for several years, but this time I actually learned it, and I can totally relate to that feeling. Not many people skate where I live, so when I drop one in the street, I can hear people around are impressed, feel like a boss or a rockstar hahah

    Ive said it so many times to new skaters online and in real life, balance is everything. The biggest difference between the first and the second skater is balance. Emma is so much more comfortable on the board just riding and Adnan is still struggling going straight after six months. Once you got your balance youre going to find all other tricks so much easier.

    Life got messy and I stopped skating for nearly 15 yrs, from like 30 to 45. But there is no universal truth for skateboarding and aging. RN I feel as comfortable on a board as I did when I was 20 yrs younger. BUT for a good 5 or 6 years, while my mom was dying of cancer and I was constantly super stressed, my body was a wreck, constantly tired, bad back, weird injuries, not enough exercise so muscles atrophying. Getting back into skateboarding has helped pull me out of all that.

    For anyone asking themselves whether they arr too old to start skating again… Stop asking and just start skating. I returned to skateboarding at 37. After almost 20 years of non skating. Sure progress is tough and slow, but the feeling of landing a trick more than makes up for it. On the plus side, you will make a lot of new friends.

    My approach is a little different; I started riding scooters at 48 and skateboards at 50. The scooter is my main thing, and sometimes take it too seriously. The skateboard always comes with me to parks and street spots, and after a heavy scooter session, I like to break out the board to relax and do whatever. I may or may not ollie one day, but I love rolling around on it and flicking dinky little tricks on my own terms and creativity.

    32 now and I haven't skateboarded in 18 years til today. the urge has been growing for a few years and playing session skate and YT recommendations started to make me wonder if I can do it still. I found my old skateboards and combined parts that still work. I have tiny wheels and a thin board, but everything I used to do still works. I'm so excited to keep going and learn a kick flip. Younger skaters have no idea how lacking information on the internet was back when I was trying to learn to do tricks and I failed at socializing.

    I live in Melbourne and I used to ride scooters (I'm 12) but would borrow the staffs skateboards ( at camberwell junction) and got comfortable on them, I couldn't ollie or drop in but I could roll and tic tac. a few months later my friend gave me his old board and I learnt to shut, ollie, ollie north and kick flip (in 2 weeks). I was at rivers yesterday and some skater said I was capping. However I think that as long as you enjoy skating, hour tricks don't matter. I prefer making amazing friends than actually skating 😂

    25+ “I’m going to hurt my back or break something. I can’t miss work. I have bills to pay. I can’t afford a ER visit.”
    It’s just mindset. Any age, just go after it. Restarted my journey a few years ago. Maybe 28 or 29. It’s fun. Plus you don’t need to be crazy on the board. He’ll maybe just start off with a cruiser and just roll around. No need to jump straight into kick flips.

    Ricky, i really need some help man. I've been skating for around 3 years now , im 17 and the only trick i know is the ollie. Theres a huge mental barrier blocking me. Ive tried wearing a helmet, pads , even with those on i still am scared shitless. I keep seeing all those people from varying ages doing 50 tricks in a year and it's really discouraging. I love skateboarding and i don't want to quit but it seems like all the time i've put into it has been fruitless. * i can only olle flatground , cant even do it down ledges or anything

  • @JahCoMusic
    @JahCoMusic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I see like 10 injured wrists in the first two minutes. All you have to do is land on your palms to sprain or even break a wrist. These people clearly don’t have enough experience to know how to fall without injuring themselves. The only protection I ALWAYS wear is wrist guards. I add more when going into the bowl to work on transition skating.

    I’m also around this age and restarting to skate, I want to train to the point I feel comfortable signing up to a Game of Skate contest as I used to just to prove myself I can still do it.
    That said the most difficult thing for me is muscle memory: in theory it should help, and I’m doing some intermediate-advanced stuff with a few tries, on the other I wanted to restart from the basics to get better pop, form and style but it looks like my legs and feet still remember the bad ways they did tricks ages ago and can’t seem to break it.
    Any advice on this would be great!

    hello rglaser, from the rise of bike shared from dc to nyc in 2010 - was a usual 100% supporter of safe 'riding' but got :( that the non-messengers are out there with no helmets - i go the reverse when they get bumped by cars - they scared the car drivers from health icu in case, right(?) - 'they' are supposed to have hats to keep all safe if non-messengers (with badge and adp check in bank) - wondering if boards and skate riders would get small tickets for hats safety. thank you for this review. elle for line skate

    hey man i don't know why but i started skating around 3 years ago but i've come in with the mindset of taking my time putting some detication in to my ollies i can now ollie pretty much as high as i jump but i can't kickflip in my normal stance, i only kickflip goofy, i skate regular, i'm not left handed but i just can't do it regular, i hit it only goofy why?

    • @meeserbaker
      @meeserbaker ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive never heard of that before tgats crazy bro wat?! You can switch flip fine but literally cannot do it regular? That's crazy. BUT, what you should do is hyper focus and analyze exactly what ur doing when you do the switch flips and apply it with left foot forward. Something I necer thought of before, till earlier today actually, is to think about where your weight is on the board right before you pop n when you execute the trick. That's probly a big factor in why you cant do it normally. I bet ur weight is shifted totally different when going for the regular flips. Obviously it is cuz ur feet are switched but I mean comparatively speaking. Like pay attention to how your weight distribution is and foot placement and also importantly how/where your shoulders are facing. Without knowing specifically what happens when you yourself attempt a normal flip its hard for anyone on here to diagnose what it is exactly the problem. Another thing id recommend if you havent already check out brailles skateboarding made simple series and specifically the "learn how to kickflip the fastest way" (or something close to that) its like one of the most viewed of their videos. Aaron is pretty good at teaching skating. Hes thorough so you'll always know what to do with each body part that matters for what trick. And has steps that you can do at each "stage" of the trick. Like popping it and getting rotation, THEN try to get that down with only 1 foot on, THEN learn to lift that back foot up, theeennn put it all together and commit. Idk man I hope this helps.

    Try that shit at 44 , it's not easy at all . I can still pop a good Ollie etc , but she isn't what she use to be the body , that's for sure . I learnt to tray flip in 20 minutes when I was in my early 20s . I couldn't do kickflips or heel flips at that time lol . Could do 540 shovits and nose blunt shovit out tho . And illusion pop shovits . When I was little I could do 540 big spins . I think skating is all about what ya can imagine ya self doing and confidence in it . I saw this guy doing trays and just watched him first and was like that cant be that hard lol . I love backside flips , probably my favorite next to a tray . Also impossible weird 3 shove thing I do lol . Use to do fakie tray sex changes and fakie 180 trays . And all this other weird shit . Ollie foot plant kick off the wall n stuff . All my great stuff went down around the age of 20 to 34 . Ollied a 4 set of stairs at the age of 12 first time . Was so good the feeling rolling away . So many bad injurys skateboarding , but sure was worth the rush I recon . Nollie 360s are a great trick to learn and not that hard if ya know where to stick ya feet on the board . Then there's nollie trays , I could go on all day lol . Had this friend want my benie he thought I was that good , I was like na I like it lol . He even wanted to buy it off me rofl . Now I look back I should of just given it to him , I guess he was a fan lol . I was a such a drunk drugged out nutter back then . Don't drink or do drugs kids , stay in school educate yourself . And go places in life . Good luck to anyone learning to skateboarding , it will change your life and bring you heaps of joy and sadness I think and pain . But it's well worth the struggle . Never doubt yourself , you know why . Because if you don't have faith in yourself no one else will . Those are my words wise words . I came up with that shit .
