Kenichi Tokoi and Naofumi Hataya are both old school Sega composers who have been making music since the 90s. They’re legends imo. It would be cool to see you cover Jet Set Radio’s OST next.
I love when these SEGA Soundtracks and their Composers get praise, because they made (and some still make) so much amazing, creative and lovely-crafted music! Naofumi Hataya was also one of the two Composer from the Japanese Sonic CD OST. There is an interview with him somewhere on the internet (I think it was on the Tails Channel Website iirc) where he talks about the process of making it and it's so heartwarming to read^^
The sequel is on steam for very cheap (1st game not required). It's a really fun series definitely recommend checking it out. Just good, funky fun and banging music of course
Funny, I know I've seen the character and remember seeing ads for it somewhere, but I've never seen gameplay or heard any of the OST. For some reason, I just assumed the music would be more of a bubblegum-pop kind of sound, instead of a super retro 60's/70's sort of sound! Digging these videos btw, look forward to more!
im a long time sc5 fan!! i'd say the reason the instruments sound like they're in a conversation/call and response with each other is because this is kind of like a simon says rhythm game where you have to copy your opponent's moves to beat them. this game has a sequal with equally amazing music!
If you want another really good late 90s early 2000s Sega OST, I highly recommend you check out Hideki Naganuma's work on Jet Set Radio. Thanks for a great video!
Someone in the comments already mentioned only Space Channel 5 Part 2 is on Steam, but there is a collection of Part 1+Part 2 on PlayStation 2, which is how I played them!
This game and OST is timeless. Remember getting this for Dreamcast in the early 2000s and hating it LOL...have a new respect for the innovation. Gotta agree, the mash of 60s / Y2K style is a chefs kiss
discovered and played the shit out of these games in 2008 immediately after i watched the space channel 5 "EVILA" boss fight on youtube and fell in love lol. anyway I'm watching your video high as fuck and I could not stop from moving my body to every new song you played, it was impossible to hold still 🕺🌌
Ok more SEGA musics..? Instant subscribe. By the way , it's not a futuristic vision of the 90's but of the 60's Mini Skirt , hair very retro scienc fiction Cosmos 1999 , 60's star treck shows etc.. 60's and the 80's were the pic of pop culture.
Watching this again because SC5 music slaps but also cause you're easily my favorite music.... Reactor analyzer now lol. Just love the detail you go into with describing the instruments plus it's fun dancing along with you. Shoutouts to 03 Teen Titans reference btw, it really is fitting of the Mad Mod episodes
I definitely want to check out the rest of the OST now! I've been on a bit of a big band kick lately. I highly recommend checking out The 8 Bit Big Band if you like video game big band music!
SC5 is my SEGA mascot outside of Sonic. The vibe and story and lore of SC5 is kinda weird but so fun at the same time. I watched a video of the latest VR game and it still keeps that cheesy 90's/00's vibe. But Part to has to be my fave. I wish for a new full game one day.
If you like Space Channel 5's OST, you might like Pizzicato Five and Capsule, especially their early work. Japan had massive obsession with the 60's space age aesthetic durring the late 90's 2000's
It's funny, I never knew that Kenichi Tokoi composed for Space Channel 5, because in Sonic Colors the Sweet Mountain Levels really sound like that Big Band style and the Bonus Track for Metal Sonic in Colors Ultimate also goes in this direction. Even for Frontiers he goes a little bit for this style. (Although it's weird concidering the serious tone of Frontiers, but whatever.)
Since you obviously like Tomoya Ohtani and Naofumi Hataya based on this and your other videos, you need to check Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure. If you love SC5 you'll love that too.
I can't believe I forgot about this game! 😭 It had such a good ost! Just like Jet Set Radio did and Billy Hatcher and the Giant egg if you eve played it.
Not gonna lie sounds like a sonic adventure 1 or 2 jazzy song cant put my finger on it but its fun yeah not gonna lie first time i saw Ulala was in sonic riders gamecube era like who the heck is this
I love this game but it controls so horribly, the timings for button presses are just off sometimes but the vibes and characters and music and dialogue are lit.
@@RandomPerson28337 I think you overestimated my level of “offense.” I just thought you were little goofy and called you out for it. And anyway, I could throw your question right back at you. you see that’s one thing you could never mess up when it comes to Sega even if they have slip up games games compared to Nintendo, Sega does what Nintendon’t when it comes to music
SPACE CHANNEL 5 MENTION 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣
Yeah honestly idk how SEGA was NOT missing during those days. The music was just wild.
Sega was at their height, and ironically on the verge of collapsing. Such a bummer that old gamers will still be bitter about in their nursing homes.
Literally ALL of the first-party Dreamcast games from this era had outstanding music, there wasn't a single miss on the audio.

There's also a third game (VR only) for PS4 and PS5, and there's also an upcoming movie adaptation.
@@jackmortikthesegafan9317 WOAAAAAAHH WHAT im kinda praying its not live action because the character models look so stylish
Yes if she loves this, she will absolutely adore SC5 Part 2.
You talking about nostalgic video game tracks is cool. I'm starting to like this channel

Video game music has always been some of my favorite music to listen to. It has inspired a lot of the music I make to this day.
And you said Cuica just right. As a Brazilian, I can say it was 10/10.
Your happiness is infectious, I had the biggest smile watching this! Also saving all this music to my playlists IMMEDIATELY.

10:02 Haven’t thought about that episode in a while. Such a good sequence
You need to listen to the Jet Set Radio Future soundtrack. Truly, the greatest soundtrack in any video game, ever, and it was also made by SEGA.
I've not actually heard the JSRF OST, but anything Hideki has done for Sega has been amazing so I'd love to see this!

Someone needs to listen to Sonic Unleashed OST asap.
Great video! Another Sega game soundtrack I recommend would be the 'Outrun 2' ost.
Ok more SEGA musics..?

You really need to react to the Rhythm Thief ost!!!!!! It's composed by Naofumi Hataya and its almostall just jazz💞💞
Do check out space channel 5 part 2's ost as well!!! it so amazing as well and since the game is longer it means thered more songs to listen to!!!!
Yes Rhythm Thief is glorious

We had Matrix in 1999. Also the Terminator and Aliens franchises.
So we knew a thing or two about futuristic aesthetics.
🤷🏼♂️😂
Yeah, the name of the guitar effect is indeed wah-wah 😊
Pala Paya is such a vibe

Omg the teen titans episode tho im dead xD
sonic colors has got to be one of the best sonic OSTs, give it a listen if you can
Love your channel
Ulala reminds me of Lady Miss Kier of the band "Deee-Lite" abit
Great channel!
If you're into rhythm games, I recommend listening to the Bust a Groove soundtrack for the playstation. I like your videos
PLEASE check out the Bayonetta soundtrack!!

You should check out Kingdom Hearts next!
Wow girl you are beautiful❤
