All of the 2D animation was done traditional animation at the time. But the stadium and some parts like the Moron Mountain planet and some effects like Stan being blown into balloon was done in CGI.
In all fairness, he had defeated the Monstars (the players that had their talents stolen that is) previously in his career so it wasn't a tough game for him
I appreciate this movie so much more now that I'm older and consider all the things that went into making Space Jam. Michael Jordan was basically acting by himself most of the time, and animating this must have taken forever. Love this movie.
