    The Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation (KSHC) is pleased to announce that Joseph Darby will assume the role of President, succeeding Chris Campbell, effective immediately.
    Joseph Darby has been an integral part of KSHC, serving as Vice President of Operations. In this capacity, he coordinated compliance efforts and addressed inquiries concerning nondiscrimination requirements.
    Darby brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as a Mechanical Project Engineer at General Motors and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
    Chris Campbell, who has led KSHC since its inception, has been instrumental in advancing the organization's mission to educate, entertain, and inspire through the operation of historic rail equipment. Under his leadership, KSHC has made significant strides in the restoration of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Steam Locomotive 2716 and has fostered economic growth through heritage tourism.
    "We are grateful for Chris's dedication and visionary leadership," said Darby. "I am honored to continue building upon the strong foundation he has established and to lead KSHC into its next chapter."
    The Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation is a Kentucky-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to preserving and showcasing the rich history of rail transportation. Through the restoration and operation of historic rail equipment, KSHC serves as an educational tool, enhancing heritage tourism and stimulating economic growth.

    Y'all chose a fantastic person for the job! Joesph having rose through the ranks of the organization gives him perspective of all aspects of KSHC, which is exactly what is needed for the President role. Also, I wish Chris Campbell the best in his new role withing the organization. Here's to, hopefully, a smooth finish for 2716's restoration!

      Same here... from a western Kanawha County (Saint Albans area) railfan!! I still remember as a kid going up to Coonskin Park and crawling all over her sister locomotive, C&O 2700.

      Update on 587 from these guys at Kentucky Steam a few days ago the locomotive will be sold at a public auction because the private owner who bought the locomotive from ITM a few years ago did not pay storage fees to Kentucky Steam so I believe ownership has been changed from the private owner to Kentucky Steam and they are putting her on the auction block to the public so someone else can take care of her

    I enjoyed the video and congratulations to Joe Darby. I appreciate the effort being made to restore 2716 to operating condition.
    I grew up in neighboring West Virginia in C&O territory. I moved to Atlanta to the Bridge Office in 1974 after having started with Southern Railway a year earlier in Valdosta. I lived in the Stone Mountain area. My wife is a native of the area and her father graduated from Georgia Tech.

    This is awesome news to hear Joe Darby becoming the new president of Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation! I’m very amazed to see how much your organization has come and where it will go. I really want to let you know how much I really support Kentucky Steam so much, as I have made multiple donations to 2716 and bought a 2716 pin from you all and add it to my railroad pin collection. I also want to thank Chris, Drayton, Joe, and everyone at Kentucky Steam for everything you’ve done to bring Kentucky Steam to where it is today!

    I eagerly look forward for what’s to come! It’s cool to see an organization like this make such an effort to give back to their community. While it’s cool to see rail preservation projects like 2716 come to fruition, it’s equally as cool to see that same organization to make a concerted effort to help build up the community they serve. The trains are cool, but it’s the people that what it’s all about. I take my hat off to you guys and say job well done and I look forward to see how KSHCO gives back to their community!

    • @chooch1764

      I guess never realized that Kentucky Steam has always been a federally registered 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that specifically relies on donations and volunteers and they have emphasized that throughout the video. Where’s your actual contribution to Kentucky Steam? Unlike you, these guys are actually doing what they can, giving up their free time and pursuing their passion and doing something what they love. Negative opinions don’t contribute at all…Hopefully you’ll understand what they are really doing, if you just actually watch the video.

    • @Stooltoad5017
      @Stooltoad5017 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      Ah yes, because they don’t actively have a steam locomotive fired up at this exact moment means they don’t ever plan to operate or aren’t doing work on one. These restorations don’t happen over night. They move at the pace of volunteers and money. While the grants they’ve been getting would be great for restoring 2716, they can’t use all the grant money for that because the money is intended for the rail yard they now own. They own a decent sized rail yard now, and it, like the locomotive, requires work.
      So having roots in a different organization and then leaving to form your own means you’re a reject? I doubt any of the other heritage operations they’ve done good work for have a problem with the fact that they are trying to restore a locomotive somewhere else. These established organizations didn’t always start with operational steam, they’ve had to restore locomotives from the ground up as well. The goal is to restore 2716, clean up and work on the rail yard, get the property ready to host public events. When will it be ready? At the same time as other heritage operations ie when they have the money! These heritage operations move at the pace of volunteers and money. Putting a date on that is rather challenging.
