    It’s funny how having less clothing items really does increase confidence! 👍

    Proj 333 sounds like what we normally do anyway- have a seasonal capsule in the wardrobe, store the off season and fancy items. Get necessary but stored items out if the capsule items didn't work or at the next season.

    Love this video Jenny and I agree with all these things you've mentioned! You definitely learn a lot about your style as it kinda forces you to really consider and carefully select what you are happiest wearing and makes you feel the best! I'm the same when it comes to skirts too! I always feel may more comfortable in dresses. I've finally realized that you can appreciate and enjoy seeing a particular style on someone else, but that doesn't always mean you have to wear it yourself (it's taken me a long time to accept this! Haha)
    Thanks for sharing! Xx

      I 100% agree, Lauren! It also took me quite a lot of style failures to get over the fact that just because we like a specific style, this doesn't mean that we can wear it confidently and comfortably ourselves... Thanks for watching!!
      (my upload schedule got a little bit messed up, I'm headed to my hometown for a short holiday, so hopefully I can film the tag video when I come back!!)

    Hi. I'm just starting to get into this project idea. I started with Spring and now getting ready to begin with Summer. This year is a weird year to begin because I am still in self-isolation where I live in Canada.
    What I did try last year was (33 items is a very scary concept for a maximilist/shopaholic and occasional hoarder) so I allowed myself 100 pieces. 10 items in each category. I have many lifestyles and activities so I need different clothes. Plus I'm embarrassed to admit but I'm a natural slob. I rarely get to wear the same item twice without washing. My items consisted of:
    10 pants, 10 skirts, 10 dresses, 10 tops, 10 blazers, 10 top pieces such as vests and dusters, 10 purses, 10 pairs of footwear, 10 outer jackets/coats, 10 scarves. And then last year I watched a video about having a 3 season wardrobe and then just including the summer items and then removing. Not sure how that worked for me because then my closet became over-loaded. So this year, especially this summer I will try the 33 pieces for 3 months again. I find that I struggle with Summer because Spring lasts too long and summer feels like only 6 weeks and 2 of those weeks are a tropical heatwave. As soon as Sept. 1st rolls around everyone starts wearing their boots and Autum clothing even if it's still nice out. So this project continues and I'm still a work in progress. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Really good insights, thank you for sharing! I also struggle with the perfectionist issue, I imagine having a perfect wardrobe at all times, but you're right, it's not very realistic! Our tastes change and we make mistakes, and I love that you emphasized that you can make adjustments because that doesn't always occur to me haha! A capsule wardrobe has made me be really honest with myself, which has been the hardest but most rewarding thing for me. Thanks again for a great video!

      Thank you for your comment Lauren! I'm happy you liked this video! And yes, it's amazing to notice how finally we can be honest with our choices and finally feel good about what we wear and how we feel in those clothes. Thanks for watching!!

    Thanks Jenny, great video, agree with so many of your points. I'm so the same with skirts , I tried on a lot of maxi skirts , didn't buy any. But I adore and love wearing maxi dresses . After I found I reached for the same one again and again last Summer I added three more in my Spring/Summer wardrobe. Love from Brisbane.

    The weather element was what deterred me in the beginning as well, especially because I (as an international student) move between two different countries, both of which has very variable weather. The closest I've come to a solution and what I'm currently doing, is that I have little stashes of clothes that aren't a part of my capsule technically, but also aren't stored away. For summer this includes both an emergency stash of jumpers and a little stash of clothes I can wear if we suddenly get a blistering hot day

    • @TheSimplicityDiaries
      @TheSimplicityDiaries  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is actually a great idea! Having an "emergency stash" is good as a backup in case the weather isn't exactly going as expected... I have an emergency travel vest jacket that sometimes I use to layer up if needed, or while I'm traveling. Btw, where are you currently living? :)

      Simply Jenny Träumerin I move between the south of Norway and the south of the UK. So both are relatively mild, but the UK is slightly warmer, and the weather varies a lot. The stash has saved me so many times this summer already! We're in a really hot period atm so I'm wearing my hot weather stash all the time, but I know that won't be the case for the entire season

    I especially sympathize with comment seven. I, too, struggle with feeling (self-induced) pressure to start the next capsule perfectly at the beginning. I struggle with allowing myself to go slowly. Thanks!

    Jenny, you did such a good job on this. I don't have a capsule wardrobe, but I have a smallish wardrobe. My problem is being able to find the pieces I need when my need isn't desperate. I'm not much of a shopper, so tend to shop when I HAVE to have something. The same with shoes. Sometimes I end up buying a piece of clothing or pair of shoes that I don't love because I need to fill a gap. How do I get around this problem?

    • @TheSimplicityDiaries
      @TheSimplicityDiaries  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In my opinion is always better to do some research first, I had this problem too and I ended up buying something I didn't really 100% loved because I was in a rush. I would recommend you to start a bit in advance and noting down on a wishlist the things that need to be replaced or you want to add to your wardrobe. You start browsing shops and because you have a list you're cutting down on the time spent there. Or, you can always try buying online (I always check the return policy first, so if something doesn't suit my requirements, I am sure I can give it back easily). I rarely buy online tough and prefer much more to buy in person, so I am totally sure about the fit and the way the garment looks on me before I buy it. And, if you're going to thrift store it might be more exciting and fun since you never know what to expect there (I really found some treasures just by randomly walking by sometimes!!). Hope this helps, thanks for watching!! :)
