Obsessions of Indian Intellectuals - Part II - Dr. Kapil Kapoor - India Inspires Talks

  • In this talk, Dr. Kapil Kapoor shed light on psychology of Indian Intellectuals with especial focus on their obsessions. Few things that these intellectuals are perennially worries about are: caste, sati, superstition, minorities, gender and about the environment especially about whatever Hindus do, is polluting.
    These intellectuals are to be distinguished from Hinduism's traditional men of knowledge, or Rishi-s. The Rishi-s were devoted to the welfare of society, and they encouraged responsibility, self-reliance and cheerfulness. By contrast, our present "intellectuals" are only Buddhi-Jivi-s, those who "use their intellect to make a living".
    They have certain typical characteristics:
    • They are worried, with a perennially worried look on their carefully careless-looking faces.
    • They have a sense of bad luck. Thus, why did they have to be born in a poor "developing country" rather than in America?
    • They bemoan everything. They are like Rudali-s, professional mourners; these intellectuals mourn all the time.
    • They suffer from a Hanuman complex. Hanuman was so strong that the gods were afraid of him and cursed him to forget his strength until someone would remind him. So, they forget about the past glories of their own civilization.
    • They have a Tittiri complex. The Tittiri is an Indian bird that sleeps on its back with its feet skywards, as if supporting the heavens so that they don't fall. Likewise, the intellectuals think that their enduring concern is needed to save India.
    • And a little extra to cap it all: intellectuals are good at talking about a book without having read it. This they call "meta-study". (Or as their hero Ayatollah Khomeini said about Salman Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses: "You don't need to jump into a dungheap to know that it stinks.")
    Thanks to Dr. Koernaad Elst for this apt summary of Kapil Kapoor’s talk.

    A deep bow to you. You have a wealth of knowledge. I feel unfortunate that I was born in 1947 by then colonial education was installed and our parents didn’t know better. I don’t blame them because they were brainwashed due to invaders. I feel Grateful to gurus like you and likes of you. We are indebted to you for all of our rest of our life. May I be born again again in Bharat. Because I am already 75 so, I know my exigence is limited and I would like to do my best. 🙏🙏🙏

    What I believe is vishwas... what you believe is andha-vishwas. Thia ia the modern day logic called secular: "what Hindu believes it is andh vishwaas & superstition, what the christians, muslims, communists & atheists, in fact all non-hindus believe is logical & scientific." So, today, if something is believed by the Hindus, it will be considered superstition...simply because it is believed in by Hindus

    real rishis of today's world approach one more great rishi when in doubt..i.,e Sri Bharati tirtha Mahaswamiji of Sringeri, i saw and heard extraordinary Scholars say this. Sringeri is the first peetham established by Adi Shankaracharya and is the only parampara from 8th century with an unbroken lineage of successors. 36th jagadguru and the 37th jagadguru adorn the peetham currently.

    In time of Emperor Ashoka, India was a Buddhist country.
    Hinduism is INCOMPLETE without Buddhism.
    If Hinduism is “milk”, then Buddhism is “butter”.

    If talking about religion to a hungry poor man is a sin, then Christian evangelist are doing exactly that, talking about Christ and conversions based on food, clothes and during hardships like flood.

    Kapil sir it not necessary to be a sanyasi to become a rishi but if you go through our history most of the rishis were married having one or two wives and children also.so this base is useless to becone ascetic .Human life is not to becone ascetic but to live in society and contribute in best possible and work for our spiritual upliftment through meditation cleaning amd prayer

    I don't agree regarding cartography. If there was no cartography, then how merchants sailed to Europe,southeast Asia,arabia etc?

      shree hari Indian merchants sailed to other continents thousands of years ago ? What evidence do we have ?
      We know that Arabs and Europeans came here for spice, cotton and gold.

    More than 900 years under invaders and foreigners rule, forcefully converting, what you expect
    Still survive is the unbelievable miracle. Supposed tobe like Iran, Turkey Egypt etc.
    All ancient civilization and customs are lost.
    Only one in the world remains is sanatan vedic tradition. Hopefully people of India and World will preserve it.

    but sir the way people are making small temples just to illegally capture the land....

    • @aparaajita10
      @aparaajita10 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Kumar Gaurav True, only making the masjids & churches is legal, because they are made either on the PUBLIC SPACE or on the Hindu temples...or in the homes swindled from the Hindus who have been fooled into believing the christian lies

    • @8625gaurav
      @8625gaurav 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      See I understand and 100 % agree with you. but there are incidence where temples are erected to save illegally occupied lands..

      Kumar Gaurav The day the hindus vote as one all temples will get grounds and funds.Put that in your mind and think about it.

      Sanjay Vaidya ok but illegal construction of temple just to save illegally occupied land makes many project difficult like widening of road.

    • @sanjayvaidya4925
      @sanjayvaidya4925 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kumar Gaurav Sorry didnt know I was talking to a child.Heres how it works in the real world.Since Hindus are not united they dont get land or grants to build temples hence they build it where ever possible.This because they are a fragmented vote bank.Lets start demolishing all illegial structures churches,mosques,temples,houses,schools etc to make way for traffic.FYI The talk you were looking for is listed under "Traffic" past present and future.Move on your limited skills are wasted here.

    Dr. Kapoor should check the mirror. He is making same mistake that he says other intellectuals make. Buddhijivi means intellectual. Jivi is individual and Buddhi is intelligent. If the word has been commonly misused that is the mistake of people. One cannot say that the word itself has bad meaning. That is so silly! Thats not very well informed.

      +Kev A your ignorance is only surpassed by your arrogance...if you do not understand what he says...its your lack of buddhi....your tone of comment displays that you are not worthy of commenting on such a great man....or even listening to him..

    • @kevar100able
      @kevar100able 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only god is great and my tone of voice is not your business. Your tone suggests you have a slavish mentality and are not capable of independant thinking which is problems with Indians.

    • @ssanjaye
      @ssanjaye 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Kev A you are a closed minded hypocrite...who takes sadistic pleasure by condemning others , your first comment was exactly of the slavish mentality who hates Indians,,, and hindus in particular...which you are trying to pass of as an intellectual comment.....field toillers in rural India have more intellectual sense than you.....i suggest you find some other forum to rant out your genetic problems.... we dont entertain rudalis like you.. ..i know your ego will itch you to respond....but if you are an intellectual....analyse what you have said...and what is the source of this hatred towards unknown people
