The drums are an obtuse riff themselves, the baseline is iconic on its own, and the guitar is awesome. If you isolated any of the parts by itself and played it, any casual cure fan could instantly recognize it. It’s that amazing.
Robert is the master of layering interesting melodies and parts, each one has it's space, each one has it's time to breathe, and it's amazing that so many of their songs are so long - and have so few chords - and yet are so damn interesting. Fascination street has no change for the entirety of the song in the bass line, and yet it stays compelling and the song builds and actually feels like it goes somewhere. Genius.

I'll add that if you listen carefully, there is a whole different melody on the backup guitar (for lack of a better term), and it's layered over the keyboard. They are all different, bet they all compliment each other, and each also has an opening where they "solo" at times. Brilliant!

Prayer tour was Cure at its peak. Boris drumming was superb on this tour, I don´t know why they decided to low the volume of the drums on the Wish tour, it sounded weak, but on this tour was powerful.
For 30 yrs Ive thought this band was so underrated even though they were actually really popular back then. This song in particular shows just how detailed and unique they were. The bassist is just thumping away on the rhythm. His vocals are great as usual. The guitarist is such an original sound and he nails it on many songs. His guitaring sounds like you are in a dream.. or nightmare. lol The drummer flat kills it with a cool ass bass line. That little syncopated hand work between the hi hat and snare is so detailed and involved. Great song. Great group.

Don't get mad at me! I see these for the first time this year at Wembley! Dad loves them and I hated them growing up. Not my thing AT ALL! Then about 2 years ago I watched the Glastonbury Live Show on TV with DAD! Yes I was educated and went to see them. Not gonna lie I cried when they played this and it was easily a 3 hour gig which I have never experienced. I just stood there with eyes closed most of the time in a daze and dream state. Really special moment in my life . I HAVE SEEN THE CURE ! Also need to add that whoever is their Sound Engineer is a gifted MF because the drums on this etc as so perfect.

We had never heard the word emo until about 2010, and i lived my entire teenage years in the 80s, was 20 in '90, and hardly remember the word goth used to describe fans of the cure. Although there obviously were some. But their reach was way beyond just that. I for one was never A goth. Does that make things a bit clearer? @DesertSageArizona

one of my first tastes of the Cure was in the soundtrack to Lost Angels w/ Adam from beastie boys and donald sutherland as the youth councillor. I forget the name of the troubled , sexy , love interest.
"Put on your face. Put on your feel..." I miss the "theater" surrounding clubbing Friday and Saturday nights. I liked to watch the people in their fantastic fashion and amazing style, and wonder what they did for a living; as they all acted and looked like they didn't have to do anything. Whenever I see a male cashier at Walgreens or Target sporting eyeliner, black nail polish and Robert Smith-like hair, I always muse to myself about the younger girl, possibly from the club last weekend, crushing on him for his image; that has no idea just how "regular" and "real" he really is. But in her mind for now; he's her hero.
The lyrics are actually 'pull on your face, just pull on your feet (although put on your feet makes more sense to me and I live 15 miles away from where Robert is from, so no idea why you'd pull on your feet when here put on your feet means let's go out. But they are the lyrics, as written in the disintegration disk lyrics).
Should have remade the track to sound like this. Couple of BPM faster and the drums of this live mix is maybe one of the best I ever heard. Also check out superbeast by Rob zombie live Mexico. Snares omg

I miss the "theater" surrounding clubbing Friday and Saturday nights.
I liked to watch the people in their fantastic fashion and amazing style, and wonder what they did for a living; as they all acted and looked like they didn't have to do anything.
Whenever I see a male cashier at Walgreens or Target sporting eyeliner, black nail polish and Robert Smith-like hair, I always muse to myself about the younger girl, possibly from the club last weekend, crushing on him for his image; that has no idea just how "regular" and "real" he really is.
But in her mind for now; he's her hero.
The lyrics are actually 'pull on your face, just pull on your feet (although put on your feet makes more sense to me and I live 15 miles away from where Robert is from, so no idea why you'd pull on your feet when here put on your feet means let's go out. But they are the lyrics, as written in the disintegration disk lyrics).

Those were heady days in Germany. The band must have surfed that energy. The bass, guitars, and that voice--nothing cute about it, hence the charisma.
Should have remade the track to sound like this. Couple of BPM faster and the drums of this live mix is maybe one of the best I ever heard. Also check out superbeast by Rob zombie live Mexico. Snares omg
