As a hobbyist sound engineer I wasn't keen on the iPhone 7 because it doesn't have a headphone jack (yes I know you can use the lightning connector but recent tests suggest that might degrade sound quality a little). However, after seeing a waterproofing test where it survived down to 35 feet of water (WAY beyond what it's rated for) and this durability test? I have to say it's starting to look a lot more tempting...

There's nothing scientific about this test. The first iPhone I broke was a 6SPlus and it was from less than 4 feet - while sitting down. It fell on its face and shattered. Side impacts send shock through the frame and create different shattering effects. At the end of the day, you're just damaging perfectly good phones.

Coincidence - Even if the phones were dropped a little differently it could make a huge difference. The weight difference of 5g is not enough to create that much more damage on the 6s than the 7

The screen cracked from the bottom left corner (point of impact) all the way across to the top of the screen & back across the left. Sooo tragic! Paint chipped off on several spots of the phone as well. I had a glass screen protector on the screen, too.

SimLife Exactly! I accidentally dropped my 7 from about 3 feet onto pavement today. The screen cracked from the bottom left corner (point of impact) all the way across to the top of the screen & back across the left. Sooo tragic! Paint chipped off on several spots of the phone as well. I had a glass screen protector on the screen, too.
