4:38 a potato ricer works really well at this step if it has fine holes on it that don't let the TVP through when you press.

A better way is to use a nut bag or white washcloth add your tvp then tie off the ends so you can squeeze out the water in between each rinse.

Great information! I am somewhat new to using TVP, and you suggestions and methods have given me a real leg up on how to use it. As the cost of ground beef becomes obscene, TVP is a reasonable alternative - vegan/vegeterian or not.

great tip, thanks. i'm new to cooking with TVP and a little bit of prep went a long way. i found myself using a lime squeezer to squeeze the TVP in the final round of squeezing. it sounds tedious but i only had to do it 6-8 times for 130g of dry TVP.

I followed the instructions & rinsed the soya product 3 times thoroughly. Then I added enough chili guajillo sauce to coat the soya then added onions & garlic & sazon then fried for 5 minutes. I used the filling for burritos & the flavor was much better. I am in Mexico so use the same inexpensive 22 peso product. There was much less after taste of the soya so a big improvement. I will do the same with the chicken soya product. Thanks,.

If it's cost, sure. Usually TVP is eaten for ethical or health reasons though, which adding beef bouillon would defeat the purpose.
Also- if you're eating TVP for the cost, you're ignoring the fact that beef is far more nutritious. It's more than just protein. When you're replacing TVP in place of beef, you have to find a way to replace all of the micronutrients in beef too, like adding more vegetables to your dish. Which... costs money
