The project aims at curbing the power losses in the street lamps during the night time. It is based on the microntroller ATmega32.

Awesome idea i am trying to use this for my exhibition
could you please tell me if that ir sensor is a ready-made module or you made it following the circuit given in the report.i am confused what should i do ..i should use the ready-made ir module(having 3 pins coming out) or i should buy ir receiver and transmitter pair and follow the circuit given in the report...could you please reply as soon as possible
Nice effort indeed. Although, when a car is approaching at a high speed the constant on/off of the lights will be disturbing for the driver. Further more, the driver may not actually see what is 50 meters ahead and may crash into a building or something and thus once a driver goes past one time, all the lights must go on. Another aspect is that it makes the city less safe as not everything is visible at all times. Animals, like dogs etc can easily switch it on by walking past it.

Sir please tell me if any type of programming used in atmega32 in this project. Sir can I use only atmega32 in place of its development board?

can it work in real world coz the ir have a range of sensing between few mm to cm, so in demonstration it can work but on streets it can't.

Does it also trigger for pedestrian activity? Will neighboring homes be affected by a strobing effect, especially people with light sensitive seizures?
+Willie Stubbs I am a part of this project. It will certainly trigger for pedestrian activity. After all they also need light to walk :) This kind of arrangement is useful for the highways/freeways, where we don't have homes or people.

sir I made a program in which when there is dark then ldr is activated and light is on with low intensity and when IR sensor detects vehicles then light will glow with greater intensity so my questions is how can I control the intensity of lights..can u send me the details sir I am making this projects with arduino uno but don't know how to make pwm pin to control intensity of light..plz help me sir Manoj Kumar

The abrupt changes in lighting conditions as seen in the preject will cause the problem of glare and driver discomfort. You could have changed the intensity in a progressive manner instead of that abrupt glare that is seen. Anyways good effort.

This project is guaranteed to fetch good score in practical exams. Only thing is that the no. Of lights that should be lit on the lamps ahead of the car when vehicle passes by a sensor should me more. When you are really driving a vehicle at higher speeds your vision is much further away. And if that section of road is not lit with this tech, then this tech can be a nuisance. I am only point out the practicalities from a driver's p.o.v.

what i would like to say is not really practical. the overhead light should ensure that drivers are able to see at least 200 m. it's cost-effective, but will be hard achieve.

This is the prototype model. In actual implementation IR sensors will not be used.
