@ChamberlinNature - Thank you for sharing. The news should pick this up to show people that Pacifica can be a very dangerous beach. You can see why there are so many drownings.
I grew up on pacifica beaches and one of my earliest memories is of getting sucked up by a wave and being tossed around for a few seconds. It's a powerless and scary feeling, that definitely taught me a life-long lesson.
Yes the most dangerous beach in the Bay. Very steep, the return wave can sweep you off your feet called UNDERTOW. This beach took my sister , myself and my little brother one after another in the late 70's we're lucky to be here today. Great channel to monitor weather and water conditions etc. F.Y.I. IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY EVENT AS THIS THERE ARE EMERGENCY FLOATING DEVICE MOUNTED ON ( THE RAIL ) BOTH SIDES OF THE PIER.
Wow, I was online that day with this channel on. I completely missed it. Glad everyone is ok. It was quiet splashy today. Lots of over the wall moments.
The water is so cold entering fall and winter, the initial dunk without a wet suit can cause shock and disorientation adding to the extreme harm of the rip.
Those waves were too rough to be playing in, but not everyone would know this unless they live here. Wish there was more educational signage that can change when we have surf advisories, like the roadside warning signs during 4th of July.
I thought so. Maybe it's just SF that has a combined system tho, I just googled it. Even if it's just street run off, it would still be filled with oil and junk, dog waste, whatever, into a soup that's probably not great to swim in.

did you read the description? There is a reason there are signs at the entrance of the beach which say "People have died swimming and wading here".
Thank God people helped 🙏
Kinda scary 😮
I wear a lifejacket when I fish on this beach. People probably think I'm nuts Lol
you must be vigilante. the ocean can be very unforgiving. that was near fatal for those folks.
Those kids aren’t ocean aware, they shouldn’t be playing on a steeply shelving beach with a shore break and strong swell, next to an outflow pipe
They learned something new that day
YES be cAREFUL ....
This isn’t really a beach to swim, is it?
Definitely not. It’s steep and has powerful rips
Not to mention that pipe that dumps raw sewage + rain water right into the surf.
@@heh2kRAW sewage?? Into the ocean??
