Le Comte Ory (The Count Ory) is a 2 act comic opera written by Rossini in 1828, 3 years after the coronation of King Charles X. It also uses music from the opera Il Viaggio a Reims. Le Comte Ory contains some of Rossini's most colorful orchestral writing, but with a oddly restrained and unassuming quaint, brief overture ending with a whisper of pizzicato strings.
Composed by Gioachino Rossini in 1828
Premiered in 20 August 1828
