It really bugs me that they go through the effort to make all the names sound unrecognizable with modern Greek pronunciation, but the names are inaccurate to how they were pronounced in ancient Greek. Achilleus's name was something like 4-5 syllables in the original Iliad, which made it not fit in well with Homer's dactylic hexameter, so his name was always paired with an adjective to balance it out. I mean if you want to speak modern Greek, just get modern Greek VAs to do the whole game in modern Greek, like Ubisoft did with AC2 and Italian. If you want the characters to be speaking English, use the English pronunciation (French pronunciation if they're speaking French, and so on). If you're gonna get a bee in your butt about accuracy that you're gonna make all the names stilted and unrecognizable to most listeners, actually bother to research and use the original pronunciation. It especially ticks me off because back in AC1, they actually bothered to research and put in characters speaking old english. They should know better.

So it's supposed to sound like something you can recognize or else there's no point to being in a place in the animus with a different language Edit: is the animus still a video game console in canon?
