Great upload. I served on Ticonderoga CG 47 the ship that started it all. I was on her from 1985-1988. Sadly in 2004 she was decommissioned. Great class of ship, wish they built more of this class of warship.
Obviously a Difference is the CG has 2 5in guns. But inside the ship it has better and more quantity EW systems designed to allow it to command Surface action groups, or to allow it to coordinate AW. I do believe it allows it to carry/fire more Missiles via the VLT's and unlike the Burke she has harpoon launchers on her aft. She's also mounted with 2 CIWS standard where as the burke usually has 1.
Our down fall in the united states is our leaning towards electronics with no real backup plan. Anything can go wrong and more often than not it will be some electronic shit.
the HMS Gotland is easy to counter.. active sonar (yes one of my ships, the USS Momsen DDG 92 used active sonar and was able to find and in simulated war games) destroy the Gotland..
Those Helmets fit over your headphones. We didn't like wearing them. We only wore them when we were at Battlestations (General Quarters). This was back in the 90's when I was in the Navy
To think some are already phased out. Well supposedly "on reserve and ready to be remanded" But their just sitting in the Philadelphia naval yard. 3 of them nothing happening to them at all
+Hornet Magtf Zumwalt is a strike platform, ground attack if you want. It doesn't have an Aegis system and couldn't perform missions that Ticonderoga does (anti air, anti balistic missile, guardians of carrier battle groups). That said the future replacement platform for Ticos will draw heavily on Zumwalt's capabilities (stealth, power generation capability, new Mark 54 vertical launch tubes, etc...)
Hate all these modern ships, tanks etc which heavily rely on satellite technology.. if anyone could come up with a weapon that could jam or block their signal they'd be as much use as a gun without bullets!
@@grizzlycountry1030 first of all to direct a missile or find a target you need radar, satellite is only an aid for the missile or probably the weapons operators. If the enemy knock all the satellite down they can still fight and fire missiles as long as the radar and AEGIS system is available. AEGIS could operate without satellite. Like I saide Satellite is only an aid
Nah, prior 1941 IJN warships > RN Warships. After 1944 USN Warships > IJN > RN Today still the same even with JMSDF has better ships than the RN RN is no longer the king of the seas and empire is long gone

Cool. Where did she take you to?
A ship whose contours only a mother could love.
I wish they would have let us hear the gun (CIWS)
It is quite an amazing weapon.
16:28 A winch!? You learn something new every day.

is he the father of LCDR Kristensen in the movie lone survivor? Eric Bana said LCDR Kristensen was the son of Rear Admiral Kristensen

Thank you.
Technically the USN Nimitz Class nuclear Supercarriers are the king warships. They make the ONE carrier in the Royal Navy look like a toy.
sehr gut und sehr informativ

What's up with the Star Wars helmets at 16:52? Anyone know?

Ah OK I see! Thanks!

80,000 horse powers? Four of them? oO
go to 9:53 for Phalanx CIWS
U.S. Navy needs to look at the Zummwalt Class DDGs as a replacement for the Ticonderoga's

Close In Weapon System=CIWS? Not CWIS 10:00
Yes thats what i'm trying to get at. It states at 10:00 the its CWIS. The correct acronym is CIWS
In my untrained eye this looks identical to the Arleigh Burke class. What is the difference between theese to classes?
awsome
o.o dear santa!!
They sure love they acronyms..

actually, US warships can fight without GPS quite effectively..
Rexford L no they can't. We rely on it to get there and aim most missiles.
@@grizzlycountry1030 Ummm, GPS is nice, not necessarily.
