I actually bought a Stellar Puffin after watching your video "Performance Sit On Top Shootout!". It's my first kayak and I paddled it all summer long on central New Hampshire lakes and ponds. I am so happy with my decision and I give a lot of credit to your extremely helpful video!
I will be trying this one soon its great for entry level surfski people or kids/ smaller adults. I use a fenn or nordic surfski when i am not in my k1 or rio.
I am an old aging kayaker and currently own the S16S and the puffin -- both are multisport. I love them both. However I want to caution that re-entering the boat from the water takes skill or practice -- recommend bringing along a paddle float until you have it handled. I am thinking of adding thigh straps or a seat belt to see if the boat is rollable?
Love your reviews. You are one the reasons I got involved in kayaking. I have a Hobie passport for fishing, but would like a sportier sit on top to keep up with my recreational friends. Love the Stellars but can’t afford them. Any suggestions for a speedier SOT under 2000. As always thank you for your time.
I've been waiting for this review, so thanks Dan! Are the bolts above the foot plate lines for installing thigh hooks? Are thigh hooks a good idea for this boat to add additional control?
Do you have a video that explains the pros and cons of sit-in kayaks with smaller cockpit vs the more open cockpits? Some of them look like most of the legs (thigh to below the knees) is in the open and then some only show the top of the thighs and the rest are inside the cockpit. Thanks!
All depends on what you’re trying to do with it. There are several good options out there. Eddyline Caribbean, wilderness Tarpon 140, Crescent is nice but pretty slow. Swell watercraft makes some nice boats.
Thank you. Something stable with plenty of cargo space and on the faster side. It'll be for remote lake exploring/camping. I'll be hauling a cooler, tent, and a 5 gallon bucket with gear.

Wow thats Crazy! Figured you guys would be waxing skis this time of year, but I guess your still paddling.
Thanks. Very interested in trying one out.
Looking forward to trying this one. Will be talking to the boat house folks real soon.
Excellent video of a compelling kayak.
Great video and another sweet kayak!
Very intresting as allways. Thank you from🇩🇪
Thanks for tuning in!

Great feedback. I’m sure someone could roll it, but not sure how easy it would be.

Eddyline Caribbean is nice. Also Swell Scupper 14
One other benefit to a nice white sit-on-top: no hidden spiders! 🕷🕷🕷

Yes they are, but I don’t think they are a necessary for this kayak. You lock in well with a surf ski cockpit and foot strap.

Ooooohhh!!!😮
how different is this compared to S14S? cheers
What's the preferred sit on top for a 250lb guy and gear for a weekend trip? Crescent? Wilderness Systems? Lake use only.

Do you think the Sandpiper is much more stable that the Skylark?
Not really. Both are very stable for up to 180lb paddler.
$4K
Yes not someone’s first kayak.
Cool, but pricey
Definitely top of the line.
How is this a sit on top when you're sitting inside it
The cockpit is not covered so its not a sit inside, Its more like a surfski
@Mr.Bryan1234 ok thank u for clarifying for me
@@KevinBAXTER-w8z yea no problem any other questions regarding paddling let me know. Keep on paddling 🫡
Yes technically it’s a surf ski. Sit insides have a round cockpit you can usually out a skirt on.
