Strangely one of the best Nintendo Villians of all time. His presence is known very quickly, severely impacting everyone, and yet we only meet him in the last hour of the game. Before, we had only known the pigmasks, their goals, Fassad, and the Masked Man. Porky, however, we only meet at the very end. He’s a villian that has changed absolutely everything, and did it all from the safety of his army. But most interestingly, is how nihilistic he is. He has already beaten death, now ageless, yet he’s still the same child as before. Because of that, he has no care for life of any kind. He doesn’t see it at something special and unique, he sees it as a toy to play with, and when worn out, thrown away and forgotten. He has torn apart families, destroyed so much, and he just thinks it’s fun. Hell, when he captured and brainwashed Claus into becoming the Masked Man, he only cared about his capabilities, and was shocked when Lucas said it was his brother. “That monster.. it had a name!? No, it obeys only me!” He didn’t even consider that Claus had a name. He’s terrifying, really. A being with immense power, and complete disregard for responsibility. That’s what makes Porky terrifying.
@@Agisteon Porky desperately wanted Ness's friendship, but after he joined the Happy Happy cult in order to better himself he became corrupted by the Mani Mani Statue. What I always liked about how Monkey's Delivery Service is in this is because it was used in Earthbound 64. It makes me think Porky as a Master of time and space maybe even saw that world. Has he been to Mother 1 timeline even? Who knows? What did Porky do..?

Porky is really one of the most evil video game antagonists out there. At the same time, you can't help but feel a bit bad for him. He was just a kid who only ever just wanted a friend in Ness, but he got roped into Happy Happyism and corrupted by the Mani Mani Statue and drew out the absolute darkest darkness within him. Then he's made immortal through frequent time travel (Dr. Andonuts mentions in Mother 2 that time travel wreaks havoc on living bodies) and has aged to the point his body (seemingly) can't move without his Spider Mech. Then he gets trapped in the Absolutely Safe Capsule. When you think about where he came from: a lonely little kid from an abusive household, you have to wonder if he really deserved all that, or if this was just always how he was deep down and the Mani Mani Statue drew it out of him.
Nah. Porky is evil beyond every irl monster that could ever be hoped to be. Porky has all the resources he needs to conquer easily and make everyone like him, but all of that doesn't satisfy him enough and plotted to destroy the world just for sick entertainment.
@@brandonknight7773 Massive spoiler alert, if you don't mind. So basically the theme giving creepy vibes is fitting because it's the battle theme for the main antagonist, who initially starts out as a bratty kid but eventually ends up becoming a dictator who obtained the power to travel through time, which eventually turned him immortal from doing it so much. From pure boredom, he started doing many wicked things, such as modifying animals and combining them into one, bringing people from many different eras in time and brainwashing them, most importantly, brainwashing the protagonist's brother and turning him into a "soulless robot slave" and his main goal in the game: making a powerful being obey his order to make all life go extinct so he can be all alone in the void for all eternity (because only he would survive, being immortal).
I always hated how it starts with the potential to be one of the greatest final boss fight themes (even if it's not the final boss, Porky was the big bad in the game) and then it just goes into this more calmer, softer part that rips away the ability to reach its true potential.
I disagree. I like the calmer parts. It feels more contemplative, in line with the concepts and themes the game is exploring. Besides, not every boss theme needs to be constantly aggressive to be good.
@@PeterF.Connolly I definitely understand your point of view, but I still disagree. I don't think the start is aggressive, I think it's powerful, and impactful. The game spent so much time building up this fight and I think the start perfectly encapsulates the significance and intensity. I'm not saying the calm part is bad, I do like it, and I do understand that it makes more sense for the game, the messages, and the character. And you're right, not every boss theme needs to be constantly aggressive to be good. The problem is that they built it up *SO MUCH* so I was kind of expecting the intensity. Sorry for the rambling, I enjoy arguing (the non toxic kind), if you're here to listen to this theme I have to recommend the orchestral remix made by The Noble Demon which I think interprets the theme REALLY well, at least check it out.
