    Dan was lucky enough to ride with Movistar's Mikel Landa whilst in Spain. They discussed climbing in and out the saddle, hand positioning on the bars and whether Mikel looks at his power meter during a race. Mikel further talks of his favourite training sessions for climbing and if he prefers to train alone or with fellow riders.
    Dan even challenges Mikel to a street sign sprint, watch the video to find out who wins! 👀

      They should've just made Quintana step aside. He's failed agaibst Froome too many times, but Landa showed great promise last year. He would've been Froome's biggest competitor if they weren't on the same thing

      I think in football there are some sort of challenges videos most of the times. As they are pro's I wanna get some tips and tricks and that's why I think these videos are better.
      Even though the football ones are pretty entertaining for sure.
      Could be mistaking though

    I was already fond of Landa but now i'm a fan. Good job!
    One thing that I love about this and the Contador videos is that it really helps display the difference in strength the pro world is in - not to knock you at all Lloydy. When they're racing each other, it's hard to tell how fast they're going, but put them next to not a mere mortal but even a former pro athelete and watch them ride completely within themselves - it really defines that speed and strength.
    .....man i wanna go climb some hills now!!

      @Sionnach1601 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Brad Taylor: Me too. Landa seems intelligent but down-to-earth. In contrast to Contador's behaviour in the other video with the sadly missed Matt, also not ONE OUNCE of arrogance from Mikel, or looking like he was talking down to Dan, or anyone at home viewing. I really wish him well for that alone.

    • @MVProfits
      @MVProfits 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Contador had great interactions with Matt. You saw arrogant behavior in those vids? His attack was just epic and more in fun than anything. Like if Landa couldn't beat Dan by an impossible margin.

      I heard that this expensive saddle bag’s price makes you so sick to your stomach you can jump 0.5 w/kg within 10 minutes of installation. Apparently it also decreases drag by 7 watts and helps put weight more directly onto the back tire. Read it on weight weenies!

      +nigel phillips: absolutely agree with you. Seems really sound. Also, I was gladdened to see that he hadn't bought into the extremely high cadence hysteria which has gripped the cycling world. Yes, the bikes of the '80s DID need lower gears, but looking at a lot of today's riders, I really feel they are revving too fast. There seems to be a growing general consensus that *your body* decides what's the most efficient gear in any situation, yet people get carried away on a sea of illusion that you necessarily have to do the latest thing.
      Landa doesn't pedal at a very high cadence, because it doesn't suit him to. Good for him!

    in the time 3:07 you can see the diference between the techniques. One move his body with the bike and the another one only move his bike

    Hey GCN, love the show. I'm brand new to road cycling and picked up a Roubaix. How do I know when I've officially "made it" into the road cycling arena. What's a good time/distance goal to shoot for as an official start to not being a noob? Thanks, guy!

      The minute you get on a bike and ride away for the first time then you have officially entered the cycling arena. Welcome to the greatest sport on the planet.

    Very nice video and ride, thank you Dan. I did chuckle when you said to the Spanish gentleman, whilst riding in Spain, "thanks for coming on our ride". As you guys are seemingly spending more time in Spain these days, maybe you could learn some Spanish! 😉be a nice touch! I'll now be following Mikel's progress a little more closely this year after this very informative video. Loved the way he dropped you, even on full wick on the e-bike, great fun. Thanks again, Tim

    Dan, if I may make a recommendation. When you ask a question, please don't offer options for answers. For example, you asked: How do you train for climbs? But before Mikel could answer, you gave him two options for his answer (specific training or go out and ride). This can limit what someone will say and may direct them to give an answer completely different from what they would have said if you hadn't prompted them.

    Why did not GCN give that E-sport bike to Matt? If they had he had not needed run away to a more soft work and he would still maybe hang on the other GCN riders :). Save the bike to Matt he will need it when he is back 20 kg heavier. Great video and Dan do as always a great work!

    He said for non-professionals to train, they should train light. Would not training heavier, or lighter early on and then heavier later, be a great way to build endurance? Or is it something you should do only once you have peaked in your current training regimen?

    Brilliant video... Lloyd vs Landa. Though you do wonder how much of an advantage Lloydy got from lugging that heavy e road bike up the climbs compared to Mikael who is still tearing past him. Was looking forward to seeing Dan grovel like Matt did when he rode with Alberto... maybe it shows that you should never meet your heros cause they will make you cry and insult you! Love Landas responce to the TdF question... we have many options (yes but don't you wanna win the TdF?!) keep it up boys!
