Superb. The absolutely stunning shot at the end of the vid, 18:52 . . . reminds me that I've wanted to ask you if your camera can pick up star fields at night. I suspect that you two have seen some stunning night skies over the years. Another hummer, well done mate. Cheers!
Y'all make great video, thanks for making these, my wife and I wanted to travel after our retirement but our health has gone down hill and will never be able to do this now, so I love watching these from my home in Shelby North Carolina, thanks again. Glad you can do this while your young, enjoy, thanks.
That was great watching you discuss some of your gear. Always great to see what others eat too. Also, glad you were able to make it to the Eastern Sierras this year. I was afraid it might not happen.😋 Opps...that's my jealousy showing.😁
Fantastic vid thanks for the share .I was asked to join a JMT trip. I'm really wanting to do it But i have a fear of heights. A 3 foot wide path with a straight drop off on one side would put me in panic mode i believe. Should i pass on this trip?
The photos and video of your hike are amazing as usual. Thank you for the little details of your photography equipment, your campsite locations, date of your trip etc. You have a lot of Sierra Nevada backcountry experience and it helps the rest of us plan our trips based on your itinerary. Great video!
Hello friends, it's korea here. Yosemite hiking is on my bucket list. i enjoyed your video, thank you. one of difficulties i have is that my wife feels uncomfortable with number1,2 when there is no place to... in your video, it seems there is no place to handle 1,2 either. how do you handle those? other national parks in the US don't have toilets at campsites as well?
I dont know the laws on using the bathroom on national parks, however, my family has always just gone out in a discrete and hidden area. for campsites, just dig a whole, then go in the whole etc. you can bring small foldable shovels and whatnot.
Yosemite to Red's Meadows is where I always went when I only had a week off. I remember the first lake was Johnston Lake, I had to camp there a couple of days to nurse a sprained ankle. Looked at map it is Johnston Lake you were calling trinity. That is the same bridge as in 1972 over Shadow creek. I'd always fish Garnet Lake exit creek.
Great video - you make excellent content. I wonder if you have an opinion on starting in TM heading to DP versus the other way round, with regards to ease of obtaining permits, aesthetics, and difficulty of the hike?
Alexander Lemieux thank you! I’ve hiked down DP twice now, and it’s a very long way down into Lyell Canyon. I would recommend coming over DP from the Ansel Adams Wilderness - but both ways are beautiful!
David K thank you! Easiest way to secure a permit is through recreation . gov. Or you can show up to the ranger station in person and try to get a permit for the same or following day. Hope this helps!
Pinot Noir in a tin!!!!!! That is criminal!!!!!
beautiful scenery with amazing views.

kw19193 thank you! Yes indeed! On our final night on DP I took a pretty good shot of the Milky Way....thinking to add the picture to Ep.3.
Nice scenery and great captured & quality! Say it again reminds of an awesome CDT hiker ”Famous” videos! Keep up the good work👊

Alex V thank you! Happy to hear these videos help in trip planning!
It looks like you are filling up with lake water. Do you treat it at all
Lol. I should have kept watching. Thanks for explaining in the video. Great job
Kevin Buffington no worries!
The best section of the JMT is the one you are on at any moment. My favorite section is Muir trail ranch to Kearsarge Pass. It’s all good!
Ape Man true!!
Nice to see you at Tuolumne Meadows I think it was 8/26/19, great video 🙂

No facilities in the wilderness. Just dig a hole at a minimum of 6” and get creative.

@@Sheety33 Thanks for the reply! I am going to have to hustle to get out there before the season is over. Keep up the great videos
Can you tell us the process (permit) you took to go on this trip. Your videos are always well done!
David K thank you! Easiest way to secure a permit is through recreation . gov. Or you can show up to the ranger station in person and try to get a permit for the same or following day. Hope this helps!
Thank you! Keep up the great work!
Nothing spectacular but many small lakes. Thanks.
How was getting the permits?
Radnally surprisingly easy! Went online a few days prior and managed to secure the permits. Got lucky.
So beautiful and so calming. Giving me ideas for next year! What about bears on that trail, do you take any bear spray?
No bear spray - you’re lucky if you see a bear!
