Being a single mom myself, it can be extremely difficult. The point though is being a single parent is hard regardless of being a single dad or mom. I do think though that society tends to lean more to helping a single mothers than a father which is sad. I think it’s extremely brave and extraordinary for a father to raise a child/ children alone because as was said there’s not a lot of programs for single fathers. They do tend to have to work harder to get some sort of support. That being said, I think a father can give as much support as a mother can because being a parent we try to do our best to nurture and raise our child the best we can. I highly respect single parents especially single fathers who took that role to be the best they can be for their child. Not a lot of men that I’ve known would’ve took in that responsibility. Thank you for making such an informative video and I hope through this it will spread awareness and single fathers can get more help as they need it just as much as single mothers. Please tell these fathers that they’re not alone and what they’re doing is amazing and I’m sure their children not only respect and rely on you, but also have unconditional love because they know that they have a parent that will do anything for them.
There was actually a movie that released on Netflix recently starring Kevin Hart. In the preview he's trying to enter a parenting class where the instructor states that the class is for new mother's. He then states that the sign says parents and that his child doesn't have a mother. It really sets the tone of how dad's are treated when being around their kids, like they're babysitting or doing the mom a favor when it's their responsibility as parents to do these things naturally.
There are more movies and TV shows with MC who is a single/widowed dad while movies/TV shows with MC who is a single mom is not commom and even less common of MC who is a widowed mom. So much gender equality.
@@erika4843 There's also plenty of movies with single mothers trying her best to make life work, just go ask Tyler Perry since he made a few. But truthfully speaking single mothers have a shit load more support, the law is almost entirely on their side unless they are proven to be an unfit mother which is very difficult to do in some states. Being a single parent is sucky, don't need to make a contest out of it.

Nobita really out there being the voice of the unheard. I got a great deal of respect for you and what you do; and for single fathers. Keep on keeping on, you rock nobita!!
I actually was being raised by a single father in my early childhood. Even though I am not from Japan, it was still hard for my dad to support us (I have 2 siblings). Germany and most other countries are way behind and dont support single fathers at all. I appreciate all single dads, you are doing a good job!
True. People might think europe is more open minded but thats not really the case. If your parents get a divorce it is often expected in germany that the mother will take care of the child and the court often gives the child to the mother, even if the father would be a better choice. and becoming a single parent in germany leads very likely to poverty. and if one parent does not pay child support, nobody gives a fuck and helps the single mother/father.
Germany? Way behind whom? A handful of European countries? Honestly, if you say something like that you obviously have no idea about conditions in Russia, Balkans, America, Caucasian or Asian countries.
As a woman I think men should get the same help maybe more when raising their children by themselves. It is not easy regardless of what parent is raising the child. Same thing is happening in the USA as well.
@@terrapinalive6192 more help in the way of classes or support groups for dads. Some do not know how to deal with girls... such as fixing their hair to when they become women. Kudos to any single parent. It's not easy. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I believe this.

If it’s so hard to understand the opposite sex, then why shouldn’t mothers with boys get extra help too? Women aren’t a different species you know. We aren’t born with special perfect parenting knowledge or instincts. Being a single parent is hard full stop.
@@owayasomething9295 maybe that person meant it more in the sense that there’s usually not a lot of organizations or groups that single dads can reach out to for help. If u think about it, there aren’t a lot of ads for organizations helping single dads compared to single moms. As for organizations that helps both, ads always seems to be promoting the female single parent more than the male single parent.
Where I’m from, raising a child alone warrants a lot of respect. It’s not easy being a single parent, but the experience of being a dad cannot be put into words.
Even in the US this idea of single father is still hard to grasp for a lot of people so I’m glad this topic was touched upon! I think all single parents are superheroes! I’m supporting you!!
It's really unfair how single dad's who are really doing their best are met with such prejudice. Any single parent really. They have a big challenge in front of them as it is. It's so unecessary to add to their troubles by being prejudiced towards them. Help them if you can. Give them some praise or words of encouragement if you can't. It's really not that difficult.
All these fathers are very insightful. Yoshiki's advice to always be open and honest with his kids, even when he's feeling negative emotions, is spot on. I think men in general are taught to bottle things up and never show vulnerability or be open about their struggles, but it's especially so in Japan. So it's honestly refreshing to hear him say that without hesitation. I'm sure his two kids will grow up feeling loved and supported. It looks like the three of them have a very happy family together. :) Yukito and son in matching leather jackets trying to sneak up on pigeons was the cutest thing ever.
Being single dad is way harder because its not their nature to do womans responsibility, dads take care of the needs of the family so they often work more than spend time with the kids anyways this is my perspective only
@Kraze equal? In what? You've watched the video, it's equal for those single fathers? The single mothers have all support in this world, but when it's a single dad no one give a fuck about it! And you'll continue to argue that "these days men and woman are equal"? Bullshit!
Congratulations to all the single fathers who do their best to give their children a healthy quality of life. You men are very brave! I grew up with both parents, but my mom grew up with a single mother and she also raised 5 of my cousins too when she was a teenager. With a little bit of help from her siblings of course, but mostly its my Mom who took care of them. My Mom had to raise 5 of my cousins because her sister became a teenage Mom and kept on eloping with my uncle and leaving them with my Mom. My 5 cousins see my Mom as their Mom. It's difficult for any father to replace the qualities only a loving and caring mother can have, same as it is hard for any mother to replace the qualities that only a father can have. Every girl needs a father and every boy needs a mother, to learn and feel specific qualities. Many girls grow up without a father and they become bad people. Many boys grow up without mother and become harsh people with lack of empathy. I'm glad there are so many wonderful expamples to prove me wrong. ☺💙

I almost cried in this video I salute all to those hard working and kind hearted fathers out there. Happy Father's Day to all of you. I'm glad you've posted this video because single fathers are as important as single mothers. I'm proud of their hard work and sacrifice.
This is so sad! Single parents should be entitled to the same rights and help whether they are mothers or fathers. There should be no discrimination in this case. Parenting is hard in all cases. I have 3 daughters who grew up with both parents and I know how hard it can be at times, even when there are 2 parents trying to juggle work and home life. Single parenting is very hard for whoever gets to look after the children.
This was so heartbreaking but sweet at the same time. Those dads really love their kids and they're trying their best. It's sad that the support in Japan can't be for "single parents" no matter what their gender is. I especially liked the first dad, who in the end said he presents his emotions to his kids honestly, no matter if they're "positive or negative". Children can respect their parents and still understand that they are human and have issues outside of being a parent. Thank you Nobita. Your videos are always enlightening. I hope things get better for all single parents in Japan sooner rather than later.
This is such a topic of value to discuss. And thank you Nobita for showing us the heartwarming side of single dad families too. I feel that they are really lucky to have their kid or kids, if I may say so. Thank you! ~~

Being a parent (not separated) I know how hard it is to work hard to feed your family and take care of your kids at the same time. I cant imagine the responsibility of being a single parent and the sacrifices they do for their kids. Salute to these single dads!
That's an amazing and sweet sentiment to end on. Congratulations to every single father who does the best they can, and makes it work. Your efforts are appreciated! And most importantly, change is coming. I know it's very slow, and much of society is stubbornly standing its ground, but I think it's really important that people get the support they need, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in.
I absolutely love this channel! Many videos from other channels usually only praise the good things in Japan like their low crime rate or innovative tech sector. You dive deep into more subtle but serious issues in the country. The issues you bring up under the context of Japanese society has always been fascinating.
Amen! Very well said, you took the words right out of my mouth!
Finally, took like 6 comments to find someone who wasn't being a misandrist. Thank you for actually respecting men.
@yang yin what are you talking about?not a single comment here is misandrist or disrespectful so stop trying to stir up a gender war here
@@yangyin8492 misandry doesent fucking exist
@@cheesegusi it DEFINITELY does.
As a father (not a single Father) this made me a bit teary eyed. Great video.
Thank you for watching!
"since the media tend to only focus on single moms"
Here comes nobita dealing with an untreated subject.
Really nobita I love your channel and content. I tell that on every of your videos but it's not enough haha
One or probably the most educative content about Japan we can find on youtube. You never disappoint, thank you.
I'm honored to hear that!
It kind of makes sense though, don’t you think? In a Japanese context about 1.46 million households are single parent. 2.5% of that is single father households and there is no split-custody system.
@@Wealllovekaira thats too many single parent households. and even if their isn't a legal system for split-custody, the parents should work together to do that themselves. for the sake of themselves and their children.
as a father myself, i must be a part of my child's life. nothing else is acceptable.
@@rokko_fable I mean, yeah, I agree. I was specifically addressing why men are not talked about as much when it comes to single parent households.
@@Wealllovekaira my comment was just kind of general. not refuting anything you said. you do make a good point about why this kind of issue isn't covered or talked about much.
good thing we have Nobita making quality content.
thank you for this. i recently became a single father (not actually a father) when i took in my sisters kid and adopted him. it has been so difficult, i am 26 but i can barely keep up with him. even in america, i still face those weird looks when i go shopping or to the park. everyone assumes i cannot cook or clean, they assume his mother does all that.
Hi mate, I’m a Aussie Single dad. Good on you for doing what you do. There is no greater calling in life than being a dad. You are outstanding.
If you ever need to chat , vent etc hit me up. I do a lot of social work here in Australia for single dads.
@@BigBearJo i appreciate your offer. i recently did have a sort of meltdown for a night and vented to a friend. everything hit me at once, i am single, 26, and now i have a kid that i never planned for. it sort of halted everything else in my life and hurt a lot of relationships just because i dont have much time anymore. i got past it by remembering us eating popsicles together on the porch a few days before. id give anything up for those kind of moments
@@GildedOnyx I’m a single dad and I also looked after my sisters when my mother died so I get what you’re going through. Mate for your age you are certainly outstanding. It’s normal to be overwhelmed, as I was many times. Look through my TH-cam channel and you will find my discord if you ever need to chat. I’m not asking for you to subscribe to my channel etc, I’m just happy to be here for you and any other single dad. As I know how hard it can be. You’re really gut it does upend your life, however there is a way through this . As you need to be happy too. No cost, everything I do is free. I never imagined in a billion years I’d be a single dad too. Mate it does get been for you and the kids.
Dang I’m 26, single and living with my parents Godspeed with your decision
Shout out to single fathers, they're really under appreciated in society. Especially when you consider how hard it is for a man to even gain custody of his kid(s).
Hey Nobita!! I really really appreciate your perspective and showcasing different societal issues in Japan. I'm a japanese American living in the US, and I love your videos that show honest and timely issues of Japan.
Thanks for watching!
I’m a child of a single parent and it’s been really hard for my mom sometimes to take care of 2 children. But she did it so well, our bound is truly strong, I’m really proud of her. What I like to say: thank you all single parents around the world! You made us who and how we are. Your strength and love is what society have to see, not only the negative stigma being a “single parent”...because after all your are all we got.
Nobita really out there being the voice of the unheard. I got a great deal of respect for you and what you do; and for single fathers. Keep on keeping on, you rock nobita!!
ありがとうございます!
those fathers have my full respect, they are incredible.
Europe is open minded
But for what thing
My foot
Salute to all the single fathers. You’ve sacrificed a lot in order to raise your children properly. I wish them all the good luck.
S U S
As a woman I think men should get the same help maybe more when raising their children by themselves. It is not easy regardless of what parent is raising the child. Same thing is happening in the USA as well.
Why maybe more? ( more help than single mothers)
@@terrapinalive6192 more help in the way of classes or support groups for dads.
Some do not know how to deal with girls... such as fixing their hair to when they become women.
Kudos to any single parent. It's not easy. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I believe this.
@@Blondi6731 ???? Men can watch a TH-cam tutorial like everyone else if they don’t know how to fix hair. Wtf.
Those dads are amazing and I hope they continue to be just as amazing to their kids. Also Aijyu is so good to her father.
I take my hat off to ANY single parent trying to raise a child or children alone!
Nobita-san, I don't know anyone else doing the work you are doing. My hat is off to you.
Where I’m from, raising a child alone warrants a lot of respect. It’s not easy being a single parent, but the experience of being a dad cannot be put into words.
Early Happy Father’s days to those single dad’s in Japan!
Yukito and son in matching leather jackets trying to sneak up on pigeons was the cutest thing ever.
Single dads have it just as hard as a single mom. But most won’t agree to it.
Being single dad is way harder because its not their nature to do womans responsibility, dads take care of the needs of the family so they often work more than spend time with the kids
anyways this is my perspective only
@@jplsn3663 womens responsibilities!?? do u live in 1800's?
Single dads have it easier. It’s easier for them to leave the situation if they want and they get much more respect than single mothers.
@Kraze equal? In what? You've watched the video, it's equal for those single fathers? The single mothers have all support in this world, but when it's a single dad no one give a fuck about it! And you'll continue to argue that "these days men and woman are equal"? Bullshit!
@Kraze Equal? Ah yes, truly equal - like fathers having no support structure by society but mothers do. Truly equal.
Congratulations to all the single fathers who do their best to give their children a healthy quality of life. You men are very brave! Most of all please give your children all your love and show them it’s okay to be affectionate with hugs, protect them with all your might, and remember to laugh and be happy. Enjoy your time with your children because they will eventually grow up and move out of your home.
The last girl words really touched my heart. That love and warm feeling she has for his father is the best gift and appreciation. It is nice to have someone loving you for who you are and sincerely wish all good things for you
Thanks for creating this content regarding single fathers.
LMAOO THE KID RUNNING AT 4:56 HAHA SO CUTE !! Great respect to these fathers and others who really love and take care of their family.
Being a parent is difficult period. The fact that these men took responsibility for their children and sacrifice is amazing. Hopefully Japan’s public policy will catch up soon.
Catch up to what exactly? This isn't only a Japan problem, its a world problem!
Arigatou Gozaimas Nobita san, your videos are so informative. They are like a mirror through which we can see the Japanese society. Absolutely love your contents. And best of luck to all the single fathers of Japan, you're doing a great job. 🙏❤️
I feel this single dads so much,
my mother died from cancer and leaved my father with 8 childs.
Now i´m 16 and undertand, how my father felt in this crisis and tries, to offer us a great childhood.
Thank you very much, for making this video.
These families give so much positive vibes !!
I have the feeling they are even happier than families with both parents
I definitely can say these fathers all succeeded to be good ones
Beautiful families for a beautiful video ❤️
Single father's are very special .I'm proud of my father he's looked after me alone since I was 7 years old when my mum left .I remember at first I cried every night and made things very. Difficult for him I feel bad for doing that .during that period he tried hard to comfort me and make me happy.I'm 13 now I'm very lucky to have my father a father who's stuck by me through everything good and bad .we still have times where we don't know what to do or if we are doing it right be we have each other .
At 2:10 I'm already crying. 😭 Salute to all Father's.
I can't imagine all the hardships she went through growing up with a single Mom and raising 5 kids....I love and respect my Mom so much! ❤ No matter how many times we argue I'll always love her! ❤
It makes me so happy to see Nobita shine a light on lesser-known topics like this. Happy early Father's Day!
wow seldom heard of this before. We always hear of single mums but really, we need more awareness on single fathers as well. Equality. Thanks for shedding light on this Nobita.
I love the juxtaposition of the line "But now I'm sure they're fine and they love this dad a lot since we've built a strong trust", with a scene of the daughter throwing an overhand fastball at his face! Great video. And Happy Fathers Day, guys!
This brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Nobita again for continuing to report unbiased on the facts. Mad respect for all single fathers out there giving love and support to their children.
I have so much respect for these dads. They took a troubling situation and flipped it into something great for them and their kids. That sort of thing takes a lot of willpower and sacrifice. Happy Father’s Day!
Can we appreciate that he always say thanks at the start so nice
Thanks for this video, and much respect to single fathers
As a single dad myself this does strike home hard. I have been through much hardship as these men have and understand how some times it does get too much.
But our children are the ones that keep us going.
Happy belated father's Day to all fathers out there
It's difficult for any father to replace the qualities only a loving and caring mother can have, same as it is hard for any mother to replace the qualities that only a father can have.
Every girl needs a father and every boy needs a mother, to learn and feel specific qualities. Many girls grow up without a father and they become bad people. Many boys grow up without mother and become harsh people with lack of empathy. I'm glad there are so many wonderful expamples to prove me wrong. ☺💙
Respect for all the single dads out there on this fathers day.
This video made me cry a little bit.

So much respect for this fathers. I’m a single mom and I know how difficult this is. they are giving their best 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I just lost hope when my son's father abandoned us... but whenever I see these fathers I think to myself that good men also exist and not all are the same.
I’m a single mom and it’s definitely not easy.
Thank you for sharing the struggles with single dads in Japan!
This video deserved way more views. People need to get aware of that in japan and all over the world since lots of places are like that too.. congrats to all those incredibly loving father. I grew up with a single mother so without my dad but even I could feel their fatherly love. They really love their child and it's beautiful
Thank you dads. You are loved just like anyone else. You are inspiring!

Excellent video, really hit home as a single father.
Happy father's day to all my fellow dads and keep up the great work.
Thank you! ~~

That's an amazing and sweet sentiment to end on. Congratulations to every single father who does the best they can, and makes it work. Your efforts are appreciated! And most importantly, change is coming. I absolutely love this channel! Many videos from other channels usually only praise the good things in Japan like their low crime rate or innovative tech sector. You dive deep into more subtle but serious issues in the country. The issues you bring up under the context of Japanese society has always been fascinating.
