Good old motors....nothing else sounded like them starting up....

I believe that same sound can be heard on the modern hemis also maybe not as prevalent. Didn't matter back in the day slant 6 to 440 that starter motor could be heard by any gear head in the parking lot. Namaste bro 🤙🏼

Hello Chris Scearce, you got it, Chrysler starter motors are of a gear-reduction type that accounts for the novel "Highland Park Hummingbird" sound. Of course you know that Highland Park, Michigan is the former home of the Chrysler Corp. Now its in Auburn Hills, MI in an impressive fortress of horsepower! THANKS for watching and writing, Steve Magnante

@@SteveMagnante WOW! I'm honored Steve as a big fan of yours and production #s etc I can't get enough of. Probably why like the show Graveyard Cars so much. Mark is quick with codes and production #s. I've read your articles in publications and watched you on all of the Barrett-Jackson auctions. Waiting to see how the REMCHARGER is coming along. Also wish I had all the model cars I've built over the years look forward to those videos also.

My dad purchased a 1967 Coronet RT new I believe around $4K. I bought it 4 years later $1300 paid cash from mowing yards. That 440ci 375 hp would definitely push you back in the seat and put a smile on your face. It was Red with white interior torqueflight on the column with deep dish Cragers and air shocks that I put on. It was a nice first car.

A high school buddy bought a 67 Coronet R/T with the 440 and automatic with column shifter. Dark green with black interior and vinyl top. I was a chevy guy and raced him many times with both my 62 and 66 Impala's with 327's and we were always neck and neck. Thanks for the memories Steve!

The V-8 fender emblem, my experience is that the guys on the right side of the line were quite independent of the guys on the other side. My 67 Coronet 440 had the correct 383 four barrel emblem on the left, and the V-8 on the right, but it gets worse! My 66 Coronet 440 Hemi car, had the correct 426 HEMI emblem on the left side, and they apparently neglected to put any emblem on the right side. Holes were drilled after the fact, and an emblem added, crooked! That emblem stayed crooked for about the next 40 years.

Hi Steve enjoed watching your very informative videos In 1972 i bought a1967 Dodge Coronet 440 model with 318 convertible I paid 400 dollars from Hoyoke Pickup Dodge. The reason was because it had 92,000 miles on the car. went in the service rolled it trying to avoid a head on collision on a blind turn. car was in my lane. Anyhow seat belts would of killed me an my veteran buddy. The engine was pushed up to the front seat. in 1974 I bought a 1968 Dodge Charger with a 440 automatic for 400 dollars in had only 55,000 miles on it .Came home on leave from Kansas to Ma I got Stopped by The Holyoke South Hadley and My parents in Granby as well I asked them what was up .They all said the same thing We never seen a car like this. You mind if we look around no problem They asked me to open the hood geeze what you got there I told them they were all impressed. I have always been a Mopar guy. My present is a 1988 Chrysler Fifth Avenue with 175,000 miles on the car. I wished I knew somebody in my area that did a conversion like to get away from the lean burn system and get better gas mileage with he old school mechanics. any help would be greatly appreciated because I am a disabled Viet-Nam Veteran

I almost bought a 1967 Coronet R/T with a 440 that was in a driveway a few blocks away. It looked like it needed a lot of work and was pretty rusty underneath (although it had a decent paint job) and I passed on it. I wound up buying my 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am instead.

I did the same thing back in the late 80s. I could have bought a 1971 340/4spd Cuda for $400.00 that needed paint and body work. I was just finishing up restoring my 1968 RS/SS 396/4spd Camaro and didn't want to pull funds from it getting done. Oh , I wish I had bought that car now. Other cars I passed on buying because all my money was going into that Camaro
1969 Camaro convertible 350/auto $900.00 pretty bad shape
      1971 RS/Z28 LT1/4spd $1500.00
      1970 El camino SS 396/4spd $1800.00
      1969 fastback Mustang 351/auto $500.00
      1967 box Bronco 289/3spd $350.00
If only I had a time machine!!

Looks like another one hiding in a container back there. Or is that an Imperial?
This car for the northeast doesn't seem like it's that rough, sure it needs floors, but it's not breaking in half. You'll probably never find a top for it though. I don't know how different the underparts are but the way you save it is take a 4-door (or even a 2-door hardtop) and cut it down to the floorpans, then add in any convertible specific bracing and rebuild it with the convertible upper body.
I remember in 2012 in Columbia SC there was one of these in a you pick yard; a Coronet 2-door hardtop. I was on vacation just checking stuff out and there it was, hardly any rust but a bare shell with no interior, glass or drivetrain. Would have been a good donor for this convertible.

  • @googleusergp

I was hoping to see the trim tag and VIN as you alluded to it. But with the VIN we could win:
W for Coronet, P for Premium price class (Coronet 500), 27 for convertible, F for 318 V8 with two barrel, 7 for 1967 model year, possible 1 for Lynch Road (Detroit, MI) assembly or 5 for Maywood (Los Angeles), CA assembly or 7 for Fenton (St. Louis), MO assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Close, the VIN code "E" in 1967 was for the high performance 273 V8, and the VIN code "D" was for the standard performance 273 V8.
No tag, can't brag, but it might be something like: WP27 for Coronet 500 convertible, P1X for black interior trim, 41 for 318 V8 with two barrel, 5 for three speed automatic transmission, possible "P" for Bright Red Metallic exterior paint, among other codes.
Looks like that's "Mopar Corner" in the junkyard with a few more videos coming with that Coronet's "neighbors" in the junkyard. GM cars also have codes for their radiators as well. This is shown on the build sheet so that the line workers knew what parts to install and it helped the logistics people track inventory and set up production at the various suppliers and divisions making parts (such as Harrison Radiator at GM).

Notice how the grille is very similar to the Charger grille. The 1967 Mexican Spec Dodge Coronets had the flip around Charger grille on all the cars that year. It is too bad the US Spec cars did not get that although I can understand not wanting to take the thunder away from the Charger. Mexico didn't get the Charger. Also the Mexican Spec cars have the hideaway tail light panel on all of them that I have seen.

Yo, Steve. What's up with the '66 or '67 Coronet peeking outta the shipping container across the lot from you & the convertible?

Hello, Bernardston Auto Wrecking is owned by a Mopar fan who keeps some very nice examples inside the retired box trailers you see in the background from time to time. My problem is that it is impossible to show these cars to the camera with so little room to walk around them and with minimal lighting. And besides, these cars are mostly complete and in (near) running condition. The snag with that is how the show is called JUNKYARD Crawl. I've done some "Musclecar Crawls" in the past with complete cars (similar in theme to doing the cars in the box trailers) but far fewer people viewed them. Plus I'm a Junkyard Junkie! I love seeing the potential in the abandoned. THANKS for watching and writing, Steve Magnante

@@SteveMagnante Thanks for the response. I understand about the owners, local yard here does the same! Has a few early '60's t-birds stashed away along with a 1950 ford w/ flathead. I enjoy every episode, keep up the good work.
