    I can recommend the Hosco Groobar Set to coach you thru the nut fileing process.

      Thanks for the recommendation! I'll pin your comment for others to see.
      And here's the link to Hosco's website: www.hosco.co.jp/en/luthier-tools/groobar

    Part of what determines a string's intonation is the overall diameter of the string. Wear, corrosion and gunk can all alter the strings dimension (both plus and negative).
    As a rule of thumb, only check intonation after installing brand new strings.
    A good lesson to learn, glad you shared this so others can learn.

      @@LMGuitarCorner I have a 1954 Reissue Les Paul Goldtop with a wrap stopbar tailpiece/bridge. With that particular guitar I need to change strings more often to retain its intonation. That wrap tailpiece just seems to be more susceptible to string wear affecting/changing the guitar's intonation. My point being, some guitars seem more susceptible to this issue than others.

    Great honest and useful video! I can tell you that if you want a backup replacement nut which is the exact same as the one this guitar comes in, in Europe you can order it by emailing the guitar seller and asking about it, then they'll order it for you and send it.

      Thank you very much for the kind words! Thanks for the tip!
      I bought a Graph tech nut as a backup, but at the moment, there is fortunately no need to replace the bone nut.

      @@LMGuitarCorner This is great, I'd be very thankful if you could share what GraphTech nut you bought, because of course I tried that way first but then ended up querying the guitar distributor whose name starts with "T" in Europe to get the one created by Ibanez. The one I got was "Graph Tech PT-6642-00 Black TUSQ XL Nut" which has the right size but the string slots are slightly differently spaced, however I believe the best option if you have a reliable luthier is what you did and just go and get an unslotted nut and get it done right.

    • @LMGuitarCorner
      @LMGuitarCorner  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Starts with a T and ends with homann 😂?
      I got this one: www.thomann.de/at/graph_tech_black_tusq_xl_pt_6643_00.htm
      I haven't checked if the string spacing is correct and to be honest, I can't remember why I bought the 6643 over the 6642... Probably because of some user reviews. Cheers!

    I have an old Yamaha I’ve replaced the nut on, then a few years later I dropped it and it shattered the bone nut and replaced it with a graphtech and i cut it wrong so some time soon ill be getting it a new one.

    Great video Lukas and I'm glad you did it... many can benefit from this lesson for sure! I think I now better understand why Phil McKnight always likes fresh strings on his guitars… it's probably this very same issue. Will you come out for this year's NAMM and Disneyland with the family? 😎🤘🎸🐦🥒

    Where can i buy this nut? Is it made specifically to fit this guitar without sanding it?

    • @LMGuitarCorner
      @LMGuitarCorner  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there. You would have to buy a bone nut blank and work on it with nut files. I don't know more since the nut replacement was done in a guitar store. Cheers, Lukas
