    My favorite Megadeth song. I'm kind of embarrassed to say my son told me, hey Dad I have a friend at school his name is Justis and his dad Dave Mustaine is a rockstar I had no idea who he was. Justis spent a lot of time over at our house playing music with my son and Dave and his wife Pam came over a couple times and they're very down-to-earth and super nice people. Dave is a very intelligent guy.

      Dystopia Plus I have a 45 minute interview with Marty on my channel. I have been friends and worked with him on other projects for 20 years. Those are facts. You think that me stating a fact is bragging? Should I say that I’ve been friends with Marty for 20 years but don’t really know him? We are working on another video together idiot. I don’t know about Warren but when I say I know someone, they are longtime friends not someone I’ve met once.

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino 5 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @Rick Beato - I think that was meant in a tongue-in-cheek manner. I can understand being fed up with the ridiculous cynicism, but anyone with enough sense to follow your videos should be expected to know that you're not really throwing stuff out there as some sort of obnoxious brag, and likely aren't serious if they make reference to it. Personally, though, I'd probably brag about it. ;)

The guitar part is already beautiful, but that walking bass motion up while the guitars have chromatic motion down is just, 👌👌👌👌. It makes the whole section IMO. Keeps a “pretty” part rockin while also adding more motion and color. And it’s not too much. Perfect.

    Megadeth were on top of their game back then, and Max Norman did a hell of a job on this record. It sounds A-MA-ZING
    One thing that is really unique is Marty Friedman's lead tone. It has that low end where only some pick attack and the small inconsistencies caused by his unusual technique ring out.
    It helps his solos sound more authentic, it makes them stand out more. Nowadays most people would filter that stuff out, which is a shame because in this case, that's exactly what reminds the listener he's listening to an actual performance. Granted it's also a production thing: Mustaine left tons of space in the songs for Friedman's solos to shine.

    Brilliant!!!! My favorite band of all time. This demonstrates how leaps ahead Megadeth (of this era) was, MUSICALLY from their competitors. So much of this was due to Marty's influence, no doubt. Who the hell dislikes this? Camaaaan! Keep up the stellar work dude!

    Although I know the whole song is great, that Marty Friedman solo in particular for me is just awesome. The phrasing, the rhythmic concepts on the note grouping, the bluesy licks, the harmonic work, the vibratos... Man, so much stuff going on in a compact solo that isn´t even 30 seconds long. That´s what I call being a pro.

    I have no musical ability, so I dunno if these videos help those who do, but if I hear a song and think "yeah, that's awesome", I come here and usually find Rick has covered it in WMTSG. Thanks man, this series is a rare case of seeing how the sausage made just makes it taste better ;-) Cheers

All my buddies and I rocked out all through high school especially in our sports and years beyond ! I still have almost all these rock songs mixed in my playlists while at work . It’s the best listening to say classic rock or country then boom Pantera or MD hits . It took me 18 months to play this solo up to tempo...lol. The problem was learning something where the fingerings for left hand were so different from what felt natural for me. This solo was the one that got me to realise you must play other peoples songs and guitar parts if you are going to progress as a guitar player. These days I learn lines from classical music and through this and Marty's playing I have forced myself way out of my comfort zone into fresh new ideas going from Bach to late 20th century stuff also.
