- The 5 Kingdoms in Classification | Evolution | Biology | FuseSchool
The classification system organises species into domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and finally species.
‘Kingdom’ is the second highest rank below the rank of domain in this sequence of classification. It helps us to group, or classify, species into different families so we can see how closely or not they are related.
Classification attempts to impose a hierarchy on the complex and dynamic variety of life on Earth by describing how different species group together, and how related they are to one another or not.
There are 5 kingdoms: animals, plants, fungi, prokaryotes and protoctists. Each kingdom has characteristic features so that an organism can easily be assigned to one of the kingdoms.
Animals are eukaryotic, multicellular and have no cell walls. They develop from a blastocyst (which is part of embryo development). They have both nervous and hormonal control systems. They are heterotrophic which means they eat stuff and have a digestive system. They are motile which means they move. Cell division, which enables growth, happens in tissues.
Plants are eukaryotic, and multicellular like animals. However, unlike animals they have cell walls, with cellulose in. They are autotrophic, which means they use photosynthesis to make their own energy from sunlight. Their growth is restricted to meristems - which is layers of dividing cells. They are non-motile, have a leaf gas exchange system and are waterproofed.
The Fungi kingdom are eukaryotes and can be multicellular like animals and plants but can also be unicellular such as yeast. They have cell walls like plants but have a substance called chitin rather than cellulose. They are heterotrophic and saprotrophic meaning they decompose - so they break things down, or are parasitic. The body of a fungus is composed of thin filaments called hyphae. And they secrete enzymes, do external digestion and then absorb the resulting nutrients.
The Protoctista kingdom are eukaryotes like animals and plants. They can be unicellular and multicellular, like the fungi. They have cell walls, sometimes with polysaccharides. They are autotrophic and heterotrophic.
The prokaryotes are unicellular, they lack the organelles that are seen in eukaryotes. They are typically really small: about 10μm in size. Much too small to see with the human eye. They have cell walls and they are autotrophic, using photosynthesis and chemosynthesis (without light) and they are heterotrophic. They divide by binary fission, not by mitosis.
So from this video you should know that Kingdoms break down into 5 groups (Prokaryotae, Protoctista, Fungi, Plantae Animalia), based upon different characteristics including whether they have cell walls, are eukaryotic or prokaryotic, and how they get nutrition.

Pada tahun 1969, Robert Whitaker mengusulkan klasifikasi lima Kingdom, yang terdiri dari:
1. Tanaman (Plantae): tanaman yang memiliki ciri bersel dengan membran inti (eukariotik), dan mampu menghasilkan makanan sendiri (autotrof).
2. Hewan (Animalia): hewan memiliki membran inti, dan tidak dapat menghasilkan makanan sendiri (heterotrof).
3. Protista (mikroorganisme): merupakan makhluk hidup bersel tunggal, dengan membran ini.

5.kingdom animalia
Dalam klasifikasi makhluk hidup, hewan termasuk ke dalam kingdom animalia. Hewan merupakan kelompok makhluk hidup yang hidup dengan cara memakan makhluk hidup lain.

Klasifikasi 5 kingdom
1. Kingdom Monera
Makhluk hidup yang termasuk kelompok kingdom monera, yaitu bakteri (misalnya spirillum, basil, dan kokus) dan sianobakteri (misalnya ganggang biru). Anggota kingdom ini terdiri dari makhluk hidup kecil (mikroorganisme) yang bersel satu dengan struktur tubuh sangat sederhana. Selnya tidak memiliki membran inti (prokariotik) yang melindungi inti sel. kelompok kingdom monera hanya dapat dilihat dengan menggunakan mikroskop. Monera berkembang biak dengan membelah diri secara langsung (amitosis).
2. Kingdom Protista
a) Protista Mirip Hewan
Protista adalah makhluk hidup yang sederhana dan hidup di tempat yang berair. Protista ada yang bersel satu dan ada yang bersel banyak. Anggota protista ada yang menyerupai tumbuhan, menyerupai hewan, dan menyerupai jamur. Anggota protista dikatakan menyerupai tumbuhan karena memperoleh makanan dengan cara fotosintesis. Menyerupai hewan dan jamur karena memperoleh makanan dari organisme lain. Protista yang menyerupai hewan di antaranya Amoeba dan Paramaecium
b) Protista Mirip Tumbuhan
Jenis Protista yang mirip tumbuhan adalah Euglena viridis. Euglena viridis mirip tumbuhan karena dapat membuat makanan sendiri melalui proses fotosintesis. Ciri-ciri Euglena viridis di antaranya hidup di air tawar, berklorofil, dan bergerak dengan flagel atau bulu cambuk.
3. Kingdom Fungi
Fungi merupakan makhluk hidup kecil (mikroorganisme) yang berperan sebagai pemakan (konsumen) dan dekomposer (pengurai). Fungi memperoleh makanan dengan cara menyerap (mengabsorpsi) sisa makhluk hidup yang telah mati. Makhluk hidup yang termasuk fungi memiliki ciri berinti sel, berdinding sel, tidak memiliki klorofil, dan cara memperoleh makanan dengan saprofit dan parasit.
Beberapa filum atau divisi yang masuk dalam kingdom fungi adalah:
Divisi Phycomycetes
Divisi Ascomycetes
Divisi Basidiomycetes
Divisi Deuteromycetes
4. Kingdom Plantae
Apakah kamu pernah mengamati tumbuhan yang terdapat di permukaan kolam, sawah, kebun, halaman rumah, halaman sekolah, atau tempat lainnya? Jika kamu amati lingkungan di sekitarmu, tentu kamu akan menemukan pohon besar dan tinggi, tanaman semak, atau rerumputan. Jenis pohon-pohon tersebut termasuk Kingdom Plantae.
Kingdom plantae termasuk makhluk hidup yang tidak dapat berpindah tempat, memiliki sel eukariotik, bersel banyak, memiliki klorofil, dan dapat melakukan fotosintesis. Tumbuhan memiliki jenis yang banyak dan bervariasi, baik ukuran, bentuk, warna, dan tempat hidupnya. Fosil tumbuhan ditemukan berusia 400 juta tahun yang lalu dan baru sekitar 500 ribu jenis yang telah diberi nama.
Kingdom plantae (tumbuhan) dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu tumbuhan tidak berpembuluh dan tumbuhan berpembuluh. Tumbuhan tidak berpembuluh adalah tumbuhan yang tidak memiliki akar, batang, daun, serta tidak memiliki pembuluh untuk mengangkut zat makanan. Tumbuhan berpembuluh adalah tumbuhan yang memiliki akar, batang, daun, dan pembuluh untuk mengangkut zat makanan.
5. Kingdom Animalia
Anggota kingdom animalia memiliki ciri bersel banyak, tidak berklorofil, memperoleh makanan dari organisme lain (heterotrof), tidak berdinding sel, dan memiliki kemampuan untuk berpindah tempat. Secara umum, kelompok kingdom animalia memiliki ciri-ciri berikut. :
Tidak dapat membuat makanan sendiri.
Mampu mencerna kembali makanan yang sudah dimakan (proses pengubahan zat makanan menjadi molekul-molekul kecil).
Mampu berpindah tempat.
Hewan bersel satu (uniseluler) dan bersel banyak (multiseluler).

4. Kingdom plantae/tumbuhan, plantae atau tumbuhan adalah salah satu organisme eukariotik multiseluler yang memiliki klorofil sehingga dapat menghasilkan makanannya melalui proses fotosintesis.
5. Kingdom Animalia/hewan, animalia merupakan organisme eukariotik dengan sel komplit atau multiseluler berbeda dengan tumbuhan yang memiliki dinding sel, animalia tidak memilikinya tetapi lebih banyak mengandung sel otot dan saraf sebagai alat untuk mencari makanan.

2. Protista : yang sifatnya menyerupai hewan dan ada yang sifatnya menyerupai tumbuhan. Termasuk ke dalam kingdom ini adalah organisme yang bersel tunggal bersifat eukariotik. Eukariotik berarti inti sel-selnya telah bermembran, meliputi protozoa dan alga.
3. Kingdom fungi : Kingdom ini meliputi makhluk hidup yang tidak mempunyai klorofil, sehingga tidak dapat mensintesa makanan sendiri atau bersifat heterotrop, ada yang bersifat parasit, ada juga yang bersifat saprofit. Termasuk di dalamnya adalah berbagai jamur, seperti jamur merang, jamur kuping dan jamur oncom.
4. Kingdom plantae : Kingdom ini meliputi makhluk hidup yang mampu melakukan fotosintesis, yaitu makhluk hidup yang mempunyai klorofil, sehingga dapat hidup tanpa mengambil energi dari organisme lain.
5. Kingdom animalia : meliputi semua hewan yang merupakan organisme eukariotik dengan sel komplit atau multiseluler. Animalia lebih banyak mengandung sel otot dan saraf sebagai alat untuk mencari makan.
