How to FIX 4k HDR Not Supported on PS5 with SONY TV (Enable 4k at 120 Hz)

- Do you want to know why your PS5 is not displaying 4k HDR at 120 Hz this could be because you are using the wrong HDMI cable. You will want an HDMI 2.1 cable also on most sony tvs the HDMI 4 slot will be the only slot that will allow 4k at 120 HZ. Then you need to enable the enhanced format modes for that input! Then on the PS5 make sure you have 4k resolution, 120 hz, ALLM, VRR, HDR all turned on too! how to turn on 120hz on sony bravia! ps5 says 4k not supported!

This was super useful. I set it to 4th option VRR and now 4k HDR and VRR is working both on PS5.
Worked for us too. You would think it would be enabled by default on those ports
Well I gotta thank you. I eventually found the options needed to actually enable HDR at 4k. No idea why this isn't an out of the box setting on Sony's x77L.

Thanks man, i was already wondering why the PS5 said it is not supported. The enhanced HDMI setting did the trick. And, just use the PS5 HDMI cable, it is 2.1 and backwards compatible.
I thought I was going crazy because I was getting the same message despite knowing that the cable it came with supported it

How come it still says 60 when you change it to 120? Xbox Series X is always 120 even in system menus
It’s certain games that’s y unless u get a hdmi 2.0 2.1
Because xbox really does run at 4k 120hz and Playstation only gets to 4k 60fps. I own both consoles. Take any 3rd party game like Valhallafor example, it will run 120 fps on xbox series x and only 60fps on the ps5. I was very disappointed when I figured this out.

I have a hdmi 2.1 cable
A ps5
But im stuck at 1440p 120 when playing fortnite
And I only get 4k when im on 60 fps
I have a Sony Bravia x85k, it still says 1440p not supported, however will allow me to select 2160p with no issue, turn on the 120hz and HDR and VRR options no problem. But when I test for 1440p it still says not supported. I am definitely using the correct 4k port on the TV (I have tried it with both HMD1 3 witch is the 4k 120hz eARC labled port, and HDMI 4 which is 4k120hz) When I check resolution info it tells me 3840 x 2160 60hz as shown here.
The input settings on the TV menu itself were on the enhanced setting shown already but that didn't make the difference, also further I ensured the VRR enabled option(not on the TV in the video) on those ports, I've confirmed this multiple times. Still says 1440p is not supported by my HDMI device on the PS5 video options menu, I don't understand it. Every guide I look for assumes I am using the wrong port or cable, when I've ensured the ports (and their settings) multiple times and I'm using the cable that came with the PS5. Any ideas? The troubleshoot tutorials all have me do things I already have done. Is it even worth worrying about? Things still look and run great and there hasn't been issues enabling VRR and using HDR, it's just throwing back "1440p not supported" which I'm not clearly understanding

My Sony tv 4k settings are blacked out and I only have 3 hdmi ports KD65XG7003

HDMI port 3 & 4 both support full HDMI 2.1

You don't need the 4k. You can run the ps5 at 1440p 120hz that's what you want
Nah... people with both consoles, want 4K at 120hz with HDR like the Xbox Series X doss. Only people with PCs that have a 1440p monitor want 120+hz, if their GPU supports it.
