You can do that with Pigma Microns and any other “disposable” Fineliner pen too… just pull the nib if it’s still good with tweezers and syringe fill with Indian/Bombay ink… cheap and waterproof!
I’ve also kept my Himi gouache fresh and still wet by just putting the middle lid on, storing the whole thing in a snap lock bag then snapping the top lid on, I’ve never had to rewet with water or glycerine and it’s been 2.5 years now
I heard you mention acrylic inks, and since this is your first video I've watched you may already have this- but I absolutely adore the FW pearlescent acrylic inks. All the colors are beautiful, but even though I'm not a particular fan of yellow, the Hot Cool Yellow is wonderful. I love to put a bit on my finger to add a little subtle sparkle and light to just about anything! Here in the states it's about $5 a bottle, so not pricey. HIGHLY recommend! I absolutely loved the mural at the beginning of the video. Too cute!
I have some FW fluorescent inks that are really fun, but the pearlescent ones sound neat too! I like the idea of adding hints of sparkle ✨ Thanks for watching! 🤗💖✨
Lately I’ve been using a yellow highlighter on top of other materials (mostly tombows and watercolors). It does amazing things with some of the colors. It may even be a form of sorcery….not sure. Great video, as usual 👍
What a fun little haul! That big paper is gonna be a lot of fun! Loved the quick jaunt through the art gallery, too😍And this is super wild, but those water soluble oil pastels are identical to the cheap water soluble oil pastels I got from Amazon! Right down to the same light apricot bait and switch crayon! It’s also deep red! What the heck? The box is a different design but everything else is exactly the SAME. How crazy! I swatched them in my Making ART and taking HRT video if you need proof😂🖍️
Let me go rewatch that video to check out the pastels! These weren’t expensive so I’m not surprised they live under different labels. I highly suggest getting one of these big pads of paper and having a play! So fun!
The parallel pen is so fun - got it in a Sketchbox artist choice box a bit ago which was a great deal. There is a great multicolor ink pack you can get for them too (or yes, Pilot has a standard refillable that works for their fountain pens) My favorite play supplies change often (currently on watercolor and various inks), but I always come back to Neo 2, Oil Pastels or Inktense pencils. Thanks for sharing!
I’ll have to check out all the refill options for the parallel pen, thanks! Right there with you on the Neocolor IIs and oil pastels! Thanks for watching Meg! 🤗💖✨
Turner Acryl Gouache! The Dream set and their Yusuke Nakamura sets are to die for. And Kuretaki when mixed to a creamy consistency emits a slight sheen which I love.
Oooh I LOVE Kuretake watercolours! Something about Japanese art supplies are just *so good!* There’s a 98% chance I’ll pick up a set of the Turner’s acryl gouache next time at that store (also Japanese!) 😂 Thanks for watching! 🤗💖✨
I wish I had a shop like that near me. But it’s probably good that I don’t 😳 Similarly I bought a big roll of cheap paper which I used when we did flowers at Art Hang Party. Then I cut them out and stuck them in a sketchbook. Oooooo that parallel pen 🖊 ---- use a pipette to refill cartridge? I’ve got the Mungyo watercolours and really like them. I knew you’d go over budget 😂😂😂😂
Haha, I think I did pretty good considering all the temptations! I’m about to take the oil pastels and parallel outside to the park and give them a good test run! Thanks for watching 🤗💖✨
I've also been having a lot of fun sketching with highlighters! I've been using the mildliners so they're softer in color, then I go over with some cheap disposable fountain pens
Good haul indeed! I wish I could live in this store!!! I am waiting for the Pantone Talens markers to be on discount, they seems very playful and I love the fact that they are refillable.
@@melissamartinart I also didn't realize at first, I noticed that they are refillable last week when I checked to see if they were on sale. They are available in 108 colors I will start with the 3 primary pack.
Loved this haul! 📝 Your attention to detail and unique style really stand out. It’s so calming and inspiring to watch. Thank you for sharing your process! 🤍 will come back to support you! 🥰Hugs from Juru Studio 🌷
It’s honestly pretty small I’m not surprised you missed it! Small but packed! This might be forward but if you do visit again it would be fun to draw together! 🤗💖✨
Great video! Impressed with all that you got for the budget! Do you have a video on the dollar store paint sticks you mentioned? Im going to search your channel now. Ty for sharing!
Thanks Betsy! 🤗💖✨ I do have a video where I swatch them out - the title is "Swatching Cheap Paint Sticks, Playing with Ink, Finding Old Art ✨ ARTIST STUDIO VLOG", and also I just posted one where I make rainbow markers with them!
I love playing with inks (acrylic or water soluble) they aren't my favorite but they are so much fun. oil pastels are what got me back doing art. Those were just a blast but the messiness puts me off on a daily bases now.
I think it’s the messiness of oil pastels that I love so much! Inks are very fun too. I often use them as a base layer, but I should try to push myself and use them more freely. Thanks for watching! 🤗💖✨
Depending on the price, I wouldn't worry about missing out on the Pantone markers by Talens. I have a couple & to me they perform just like tombow's and a kinda dry given the extreme pricing$!! ❤ Courtney

I’ve been trying to work up courage to join an Urban Sketchers outing… have you been?
What an amazing art store 🤩 unfortunately I don't have any good store around me, so always shop online 😢 I have Mungyo oil pastels and love them, they are my favourite along side with the Neopastels, now I want to try those watersoluble ones 🥰 and that Parallel pen looks great too! My favourite materials for fun/play are oil pastels and stabilo 🎉❤
My most fun is neocolor 2 and inktense pencils i also love derwent graphtint color pencils and crayola color pencils to outline, I also love your purschase of the pilot p. pen theres videos on ytube where they show you how to add certain ink to the barrel, theres also ways to trim the ppp nib to get different shapes theres videos on ytube about them i was wanting to purschase them really bad a few years ago but daughter needed to go to college, my goal is to purschase some of them some day in future after daughters graduation, i also liked your rainbow pencil id like a set of those also for future purschase, i thought you were gonna grab some sketch books at first store I saw the mint color wow thats pretty color. I did buy a few sets of posca pens last year at xmas due to getting a gift card so i do like thise, im a advid rock painter/dotter during winter time.i like your choices you picked and you did stick pretty clise to budget it was just tax that made you go over, lol right now im going thru my computer paper reams my husband purschased for me im on my last ream so i know ived drawn atleast 1,000 pages 500 paper per ream so im on my last ream soooooo deft sketch books. I think I would like to do a future purschase of a palette carrier for my kuretake wc paint its 50 dollars (on esty) but i love the green box the Japanese k.w.color art company made to hold the k.w.c.pans in so i dont want to ruin that box its so pretty. I think i would buy your style of art sketch books in all random colors, if i had art funds right now but daughters college tution first tho.🖌🖊🇺🇲🇨🇦💙
I hope your daughter appreciates all your art supply sacrifices! (Jk I’m sure she does). The parallel is really nice - I did a sketch with it over the highlighters yesterday and it’s so juicy! Maybe almost too juicy, as it bled through the page a little in my Art Creations sketchbook. And yes Neocolor IIs are the best! Tied with oil pastels for my favourite! They are fun too, but oil pastels and paint sticks feel more like playing for me, with fun and surprising results. Thanks for watching! 🤗💖✨
With the Parallel pens, I just use a needle syringe to refill the cartridges with fountain pen ink and it works really well.
I will definitely do that! I do that with the Sailor Fude fountain pen so makes sense with this one
