  • Our backyard was seriously neglected and had turned into a field of weeds and dust. We spent the summer doing an extreme DIY backyard transformation. After a major renovation, we completely transformed our backyard on a budget into a family-friendly oasis, which includes a kid's swing set area, new grass and landscaping, an outdoor chalkboard, a gorgeous paver patio with a fire pit, a new wood deck, and a cozy outdoor dining area on our wood deck.

    Some hard labor!! I'm so impressed, w your vitality, youth, love for your family, + dedication. Loved seeing this.
    Never realized it before, but, do wish you had a wide angle on your camera. Guess we get spoiled on You Tube, huh?

      Hi! Thanks for your comment. When we put together this complication video showing the entire transformation, we were using videos that were filmed in a few different formats (some vertical for other social media platforms that we're active on, like Instagram). Totally understand that a wider angle is preferable and we'll try to keep this feedback in mind for future videos! :)

    It looks awesome u will have many yrs of happy memories. One question is what is that square space under the kids picnic table. ❤❤

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That space is where a control box for sprinkler valves is located. We have since made a wood cover for that square.

    Would you make another video of the cost breakdown? Preferably the Patio

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I don't have detailed records still of the costs for a lot of this. Also prices, I'm sure, have changed a lot since we completed this makeover 3 years ago. If I had to guess on the price for the paver patio items, I'd estimate $4,000 for the cost of the materials alone... but that is largely dependent on the size and type of pavers you purchase.

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh goodness, this took us several months! Most of these projects were completed during a span of 6 months or so.

    What is the opening under the picnic table in the patio for?

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  ปีที่แล้ว

      The opening is where a sprinkler valve box was located. We have since put a wood covering over it since it really wasn't worth the time and energy to move those sprinkler lines and valves.

    couldn't you seal the rubber somehow, you will have it everywhere and it is probably not so great to walk on. Also, very difficult to maintain and keep clean. I think that is the bit you will be redoing in a year or so.

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The rubber compacts fairly well but there is maintenance along with it. We decided with this rubber because it is actually very comfortable and our kids have no issues walking barefoot on it.

    Aesthetic result but so much plastic and other artificial stuff ! Do you really need to destroy the soil, kill everything that lived there?... Seems to me like a dead land 🥺

    • @MakingManzanita
      @MakingManzanita  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is definitely a balance with weed control and natural landscaping. Ultimately we tried to make a yard our kids and dogs can enjoy w/o using various chemicals to kill weeds each year.
