I loved this tutorial, but for anybody whos trying to actually do a creative project, DON'T FULLY FOLLOW THE TUTORIAL, experiment with some different techniques even outside of what he's doing, for instance, I duplicated both my explosion layers, changed the particle on them to be a motion polygon and gave those 50% opacity, duplicated one more, made it constantly yellow and then gave it small lines that only birthed for a quick second and didn't slow down, this gave me an AWESOME sparky looking explosion which was perfect for what I wanted
Hello Kitty, yes you can but only within the options the effect allows. If you did this with a paid plugin like Trapcode Particular you would have a lot more options available.

Hi, yes thank you for the feedback! Particle systems II will auto remove the background from the layer you apply it too. You can also toggle the background transparency of your composition by clicking the button on the left next the “active camera” button in the middle of the screen. Hope that helps!

Thanks! this might be a silly question but can you choose your own particle type? nothing to fancy, only a simple PNG file or photoshop layer.

For some reason it doesn't work for me. My explosion doesn't show when I press space and let it play. I'm following you to a T.

resistance doesn't go for higher than 50 in my version
