I think it would be great for the football team to greet the band when they return. Just like the band has done for the football team after every road game.
Their arrival back in Manhattan is estimated for 11 pm-midnightish Saturday, at the Tracz Family Band Hall (Memorial Stadium West). Would be very cool for them to have a crowd to welcome them home, for anyone who is around and would like to do that. This old band alum is very proud of what they have accomplished. Go Band!
I listened to stan Weber on 810 the morning after the game. And he had no voice because everytime he would talk on the radio after the play was over the band would be playing so he would have to yell so all of us listening to the radio could hear him! Great job band and great job Stan! Job well done and another great season in the books!! Go Cats!
Oh, my.....in 1957 (I'm now 85) I was a clarinet player in the K-State band. Thinking back, all you really needed was an active pulse rate and an instrument, there were no real "try-outs". In fact, we barely had enough band members to make a decent "K" at halftime! I had swimming, just before marching band practice, no time for hair drying, go practice the next formation with frosty hair in the winter. I do have, somewhere, my picture in the drab light gray band uniform, Gene Hedland (think I have that correct) was our band director. Those were the days.....I easily tear up watching our current band "professionals" (comparitively speaking) perform intricate formations while playing. Even after a football game, those band members trudge up the bazillion steps from the field out of the stadium carrying their instruments! Thanks, band....so proud of you!
2012 Marching band member here (Bass drum) At the time, I had transferred to K-State from KU. I was frustrated with how badly the KU marching band program was run. KSU was a new world, I never worked so hard in my life. Every game was incredible, even knowing we had to get to the field at 4am for an 11am kickoff. I’m 33 now and teach drumline at a high school. My time in the KSU marching band will forever be a highlight.
Kudos to the band parents! They travel not to just watch the games, but to support their sons and daughters. I've always enjoyed the marching band, but as an aunt with two recent band members, I realized they put in so much work and dedication that is underappreciated. Go Band!
Great job band!!! I still have fond memories of our 40 hour bus ride to the New Era Pinstripe bowl in NYC. We tried to beat the blizzard but didn't, so the the trip around NYC was a crawl. Also, playing the forbidden song 'Sweet Caroline' in Yankee stadium, while the Yankee organization (over the comm system) and Syracuse fans and locals throwing ice balls tried frantically to shut us down was fantastic. God I love the band!!! Emaw!
So proud of my Freshman KSUMB band member. Missed her so much for Christmas, but couldn’t be happier for her to have this experience and to be there to support the football team at the bowl game. I didn’t grow up a Wildcat fan, but it hasn’t taken much for me to be sucked in and part of that is due to how the university, community, and the coaches and players supports the band. Whenever I proudly tell anyone in Manhattan that my kid is in that band, I hear how much everyone loves Dr Tracz, his staff, and the band. They are actually celebrated down there. It would be absolutely cool for people down there to cheer them on when they get off the bus. I’m too far away, or I’d be there greeting them too!
This makes me proud. Hearing about the band getting so much credit. To me this is what changes sports in general. It’s hearing the band in the stands…that’s when we all know, it’s college football time! Love it!
The PRIDE is absolutely marvelous! We always stay for the half- time show during football! Wouldn't miss it! They put in so much time to be the way they are!! Great job!
I was there when Dr. Tracz first arrived!!! 1993!!!!! KSU Pride of Wildcat Land/Drumline!!! Marched for four years, helped teach the Drumline for Two!! He had a vision when he started!!!! Loved every minute of it!!!!
In pre-Snyder days there were many folks who would go to the stadium just to see the band perform. As soon as the band finished the half-time show those people would leave the stadium. There would be room for many visiting groups for band day. In 1984, 67 bands combined with over 3,000 people on the field to make the Guinness World's Record largest marching band.
My wife(not a K-State alumnus) commented that the K-State band looked so much better than Rutgers. She thought it was lame that they performed in track suits.

K-State has the greatest marching band. It takes more work than we realize.💜

It takes 9 buses to get all of us there
Thank you for being a great ambassador to the school. EMAW
The band simply ROCKS!
I hope Kstate had the band on at least nice charter buses for the long trip and not school buses...
@@brandonbogue6740They are charter buses.
One of the best things about college football is the band, our band.

Son was there, drumline! EMAW❤
The K-State band is so impressive! Love them! ❤

Hats off to one helluva band!!

Thanks, Fitz, for giving band the credit it deserves.
Fitz- as members of that 82 band, my wife and I are very proud band alumni. They are wonderful ambassadors for the university.
They’re still in the road. Loved hearing your take.

Only 651 miles to go!!!
Ha! Thanks for the great laugh, and for recognizing all involved in the band program. I didn’t realize the classy cats are part of that.
Remember when the flag team was the Pridettes?
Yes great band EMAW
Can confirm that we are still on a bus at the time of this upload lol
We are still driving to this day.
My roommate was in the band 79 to 82. That worked there buts off
Holy cow, published 2 hours ago and already 107 likes! Nice.
As an oldie wish they'd bring back the Kstate spin
& can't stop loving you!
Only if they do away with the wildcat march.
My wife(not a K-State alumnus) commented that the K-State band looked so much better than Rutgers. She thought it was lame that they performed in track suits.
Love the DD
K State is about excellence in all programs by outworking others. Wildcats always do more with less.
Did Rutgers even send a band? I heard the Pride loud and clear on TV throughout the ball game, but didn't hear any other band.
Take me out to the Ball park? Lol!
Fitz, don't you ever believe that band doesn't make a difference with those players! They don't get enough credit.
Wabash Cannon Ball!
That’s a baseball song!!!!!!!
The game was in a baseball stadium.
