  • A Share is a portion of ownership in a company.
    In order to understand what a share is, we need to understand first what a company is.
    A Company is a legal entity that allows its owners to conduct business under a separate legal identity, limiting their personal liability.
    The original founders usually fund the newly created fictional identity with initial resources such as money and in exchange, a share of the control over the company and part of the assets in the new fictional identity are issued.
    Thus, if five founders contributed $100 for the new company in equal parts; each one will get 20% of the total share of the new company.
    Shares are usually “Issued” in financial terms. Therefore, if the company issued 10 shares of $10 value, each founder will get from the company 2 shares, $10 each.

    Another question, the profit is yearly right? Like say they put 100 and they earned back 1100, meaning 1000 profit, does that mean that the share is still there? Like they keep the 1000 but at the same time each year depending on the profit the company keeps giving the money the shareholder is entitled to

    Why is it that if the company made 1 million dollars they only give back 100thousand?
    What determines how much money the company gives back and what if they don't give anything back at all?

      the percentage, if the company is the 100% and if you own 50%, you must recieve the 50% from the company´s networth. Like a salary.

      For public companies, there is a portion that the company keeps called retained earnings so that it can grow through research and development, acquisition of other companies , investment... but keep in mind that if the company grows it will also increase the value of your share. the part that is paid to you is the dividend.

    Im confused at 1:56, wouldnt it be 200k?? Is it saying when you return a share... You get 20% of THAT so its 20k?

    • @nwidobiesudor9973
      @nwidobiesudor9973 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The company wanted to give 100k in profit to it's others. Each owner with 20% will get 20,000 dollars.
      Obviously the company shouldn't give it's whole profit to it's owners, some part will stay for the running of the company, future plans of the company and all.

      1. A share is the portion of the amount of profit someone is entitled for in the company, e.g. if a company makes a net profit of R100m per year after all deductions, and a person / entity holds a 40% share in the company, the person will be entitled to R100m x 0.4 = R40m net profit per year. It's a right to earn a percentage of net profit from that company.
