Native burial grounds are all over this nation. We had something like that happen when I was a boy.We we're sewing wheat seeds when the seeder got stuck on what we thought was a root,it turned out to be an old old femur bone.We dug the rest up and moved it next to our fence(same field)and reburied them, only much deeper. We had no problem with haints.

I moved up north about 7 years ago, I have a beautiful wife, and a happy life, but sometimes I really do get homesick for the woods, and hills, and pines, the smell of the red clay soil after a morning shower, this channel really makes me feel like I'm back there even if it's just for a few minutes. Great story Donnie. I just found your channel and really enjoyed this one. I live near to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Bledsoe County I am half Native American. My mother is Shawnee Cherokee her mother was Shawnee and her father was Cherokee they were brought up in Oklahoma near Tahlequah. I moved here 22 years ago and bought an old shack and 27 Acres on the Cumberland plateau. The old house I live in was built in 1895. It has very low ceilings and at the time was a poor man's house and is still a poor man's house. I live here alone with my dogs and tend my vegetable gardens. I frequently see visions of Indians around the property and even coming through the house. There is an old spring on the side of the mountain just below my house that has old rock walls at the back. There is still two old grinding Stones where they ground their grain at the edge of the spring. All Old-Timers around here said that the walls around the spring were put there by the native people. I love this place and I love the spirits that come through. I have never felt afraid or threatened or anyting.

Donnie I so believe this story! My father and I and a cousin, leased land in Lashmeet WV. across from Shawnee park. One evening I was resting and eating a sandwich, after a long hard day rolling hay, in the field across from the park. When I heard the words 2 times, Waapa Helini Naakala! Week went by, I told dad and the others, they laughed at me. The next morning as we came back, Archaeologist were digging Native American graves up. We had to move our cattle and leave! Those 3 words Waapa Helini Naakala, ate at me i wanted to know what they meant! I tried searching but no luck! Later I contacted an Archaeologist I knew. He searched books and found it meant, "White Man Leave." God Bless you! (Glen). WV.

I grew up fishing Lost Creek back in Sharps Chapel. When the fish weren't biting I would walk the shorelines. You could see old house seats and even a couple wells when the water was low, I would occasionally find arrowheads and other artifacts laying in the mud & dirt. There is a rich Indian history in this area.

It’s easy to tell you were raised by a wonderful family and that you come from ancestors that had such a great respect for the land. They instilled in you a great love of the earth and all who dwell on it. We who love & take care of the Earth much as the Native Americans did and still do, are few and far between these days. It’s such a shame that so many are not as evolved or as enlightened about taking better care of the earth especially now with climate change. We as a collective really need to have a greater respect for her and thank God for his beautiful creation and all that she provides in nourishing and sustaining us every day.

My grandpa was from a Holler in West Virginia called Black Betsy and he was the father in my life. I spent my entire life listening to his stories of the Hills when he was growing up (the spirit coal miner who wandered around a path further up in the holler looking for his family he killed, the old woman down the holler he swore was a Witch, even his extremely awful but sometimes funny stories about a family at the top of the hill said to be extremely inbred for generations and Grandpa swore they were way scarier than the ghosts, the Witch, or the crazy guy down the road who randomly painted black witches all over his house for protection one night....😂😂😂). Grandpa passed away in January of 2018 and I took care of him and grandma to the end. I miss his stories (even the ones he told me over and over again), his hand moving with every word as he got into it. You tell stories in a way that reminds me of him. Thank you for making me smile. 😊

Wonderful story Donnie, I was thinking even before you mentioned it. That is was an Indian burial ground. It was sacred to them, that's why they showed themselves when your ancestors tried to farm it. Thank you Donnie for sharing this story with us.

I've been enjoying all your story telling and I would love to move to the mountains. I'm from Canada and I did visit Tennessee back in 2010 and I loved it there. There is nothing like the mountains. I had some similiar lifestyles when I was a kid living here in Ontario Canada. I'm thinking that I should write down my stories and share with my children. I would love to go and visit this field and see the native Americans. I feel so sorry for them being pushed out of their land, so it's no wonder that they come back to have a pow wow. Thanks Donnie and keep on telling the history.

I'm from Huntington wv and I love your channel wish there were more like yours . I love hearing old storys and tales of superstitions. My dad and sister went to my papaws old home place and they felt like something was watching them so they took pictures and when they got them developed in one of them pictures was my papaws moms face coming outta tree branches and shed been dead since the 50s. There was an old cemetery outback their house up the hill and they said you could hear drumming at night

The people of that subdivision are going to pay dearly for something they don't even know about. A haunting is one thing but an Indian spirit is totally another. Thanks for the story and sorry that your people lost the land.

When I was a little boy there was an old fellow in our community who believed he had a homegaurd. He would leave food for it. He was Native American and I have heard that it is a belief that it is usually a friendly spirit, sometimes a relative who has passed on, who gaurds your house. I was a teacher and mentioned something about it. One of my students said, "we have one. He comes through the kitchen and living room and goes upstairs. " I said ,"do you ever follow him to see where he goes?" " Not me," he said, "if I follow I might come out some place I don't wanna be."

Great one Donnie. I married a girl from Sharps Chapel and brought her to Blount Co. The name Roy (Rabbit) Roe may ring a bell if you are from there. But anyway I'm following you on a lot of the other post too. Inez Burns was my history teacher in High School, and she trusted me and 3 others with her little Gray Ford Falcon, and sent us on grave stone Chalking and tracing trips all through Blount County. Thanks again and I'm watching. Thanks
