good start to a video but it looks like you as well were surprised on how big Fresno really is. fresno is the 5th largest city in the state of California by population. SF is 4th, and Sacramento is 6th. Unfortunately looks like you went at what some may say is the worse time to go during the peak summer heat. You barely scratched the surface as you said and you should continue. Fresno is the closest major city to Yosemite and the other national parks (sierra national forest, kings national park, sequoia national park). It's literally in the backyard. The international airport in Fresno (FAT) is called Fresno Yosemite. It snows in fresno actually (fresno county) as there is a ski resort about an hour away along with sno parks during the winter but doesnt actually snow in the city so you can have your cake and eat it too and not have to deal with snow. Fresno also has cleaned up it's crime which was a big negative reputation it had especially in the 90s and early 00s. Currently in the mid to late 2010s, Fresno is in fact safer than Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland and other big cities in CA by comparison. gddlaw.com/2016/05/12/cities-california-dangerous/ and here: www.areavibes.com/compare-results/?place1=Oakland%2C%20CA&place2=Fresno%2C%20CA&place3=San%20Francisco%2C%20CA&place4=Sacramento%2C%20CA&place5=Los%20Angeles%2C%20CA#cri and here are some homicide stats For comparison: Fresno COUNTY (fresno, clovis, etc): 32 City of Oakland alone: 66 Alameda COUNTY (includes oakland): 85 Contra Costa COUNTY: 38 San Francisco: 42 bay area source: www.mercurynews.com/2018/01/09/bay-area-homicides-2018/ Fresno has certainly become a sleeper city and nice thing is its 2 hours from san jose, 3 hours from SF and 3 hours from LA if you wanted to do day trips, but as a city so big, there really isnt a need to regularly leave the city since it has usual big city amenities

You really have to go through 180 then the 41 and even 168 to see how large it is. I was looking at las vegas weather, and its generally 5-10 degrees hotter than fresno and they have like 2 months straight of 100+ degree weather. at least every now and then fresno dips to 90s haha. A little side note about the whole NorCal vs SoCal question, and I’m sure most long time residents already know about this so this one’s for the outsiders, but a few miles north of the San Joaquin River on Highway 99 there is a historic landmark in the center median called where the palm meets the pine. This spot marks the actual geographic dividing line between NorCal and SoCal and there is an actual palm tree next to a pine tree planted in the center median, and they’re full size trees so it’s not hard to see. But yeah, despite all that we consider ourselves the Central Valley or Central Cali.

Some Where I recommend to go in Fresno is underground garden and another place is the Big Fresno Fair when it’s open but yes Fresno belongs to Central Valley
It's kind of strange to do something about a county , that people don't know exist. I live here and it's nice to learn about something, that people use a lot when purchasing an item.
I would highly recommend if you're ever coming back to go see the Forestiere Underground Gardens. Also shows you a lot about Fresno's history and the place is absolutely breath-taking.
The video is correct. Fresno was, is, and has always been a "test market." I remember in the early 70s they tested a new method of listening to music --- the Cassette --- far before other markets.
I've lived here in the central valley my whole life and I have never ever been to kerney mansion. My favorite Japanese gardens, people go there to take their quince photos or wedding photos or whatever photo, last time I checked you had to pay twenty bucks to reserve an hour for photo shoots and they use to charge two dollars for extra people that weren't on the permit this was before the pandemic. Also I have never ever been to underground gardens.
Wow that is something i did not know about my hometown. Fresnada is the Central Valley. neither north or south. Oh and yeah Fresno summers are blazing hot. Well done my man Fresno needs as much positive re-inforcement as it can get its a tough city. My favorite places to go was Lost Lake and Millerton but that was back in the day in the 80s and 90s and also the San Jauquin was fun to explore too. Hensley lake was cool too use to go fishing up there. i also use to go camp up near squaw valley when i was a kid. Those days were fun. Inside the city the place to be was the Mall Manchester yes! manchester use to be fun to go to back in the 80s and early 90s in the mid 90s they built the island water park out near Highway city. Clovis lakes is another Water Park.
Also invented the raisin, and the "fresno scraper" (what became the modern bulldozer). Check out the Forestiere Underground Gardens, Blossom Trail (early spring), Woodward Park, Chaffee Zoo. We are close to the mountains, rivers, lakes, and 3 National Parks. (Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia) Visit Fresno in the Spring and early Fall for good mild weather.
They always say Fresno is Northern California, but it just isn’t. It’s always been a part of Central California, the area from Modesto to Bakersfield. Bureaucracy would rather have everyone think it’s part of Northern California, but we are our own metropolis that is large enough to stand on its own just like LA and SF.
Fresno is central California. Or true California depending on how you decide the geographical areas. From Bakersfield to Modesto, the entire width of the valley, can be called Central California. From the “grapevine” heading south is what you can consider Southern California only. We’re different people completely
We're above being designated with either Northern or Southern California. But if we have to be lumped into one, we are sort of the gateway to the North because of our proximity to Yosemite.
We're southern. Travel up the 99 north from Fresno, in Madera county on the median between the north and southbound lanes you'll see a palm tree and a pine tree. The palm marks the south, the pine the north. So technically, Fresno is in the southern half of California.
@@Duricas Castaic and Valencia and newhall could not cut it so Santa Clarita was invented- ZZZZZZZZ if Magic Mountain Did not buy cheap land there- Besides in Fresno Roads are straight. Maria;s deli is a plus , Ill give ya that
I was born and raised here in the Central Valley. I've always considered Fresno as part of Southern California, because SCE built their power generating facilities and structure at Shaver Lake which is north of here above Clovis. That power generation facility is credited today for lighting Los Angeles. All of PG&E in the south valley also gets their power from Southern California Edison facility at Shaver Lake. So despite what the "gang members say" I have to go with history.
hi everyone since i am planning to move to Fresno but i am little hesitate about the crime situation can someone give me updated info please online review is different then in person experience
I just bought a house here, I lived in San Jose for 10 years, and moved to Houston for 4 years, but end up bought a house in Fresno, hope it's less crime than Houston TX
I believe my City Can Be Major city As Sf & LA I feel They need to just rebuild more to downtown area Put the mall back up or Basketball team some record labels amusement parks etc add some Attraction to Fresno So when tourist come to the city they can leave with great things to say about the city
Fresno is the forgotten city of California. The most important of the valley but that's like saying the biggest shrimp The 5 is dead maybe that's why people dont visit as much as the coast and the 101
mr.potato head Fresno sucks. Tulare county is the most important. Agriculture is stronger there and don’t forget the World Ag, which draws more visitors to Tulare than Fresno ever has combined.
@@thinkaboutit1377 Tulare's a small city like 45 min south of Fresno. The world ag. draws a lot of visitors but the Fresno Fair does as well and the Fresno Chaffee Zoo has roughly in attendance every year, as well as two massive water parks in the summer drawing people from all over the valley, so I'm not sure where he draws that fantasy from.
Jacobe Solorio it’s not a fantasy. Ever hear of the Tulare county fair? You must not look up numbers. Tulare has its own water park, Visalia is right next door and has the adventure park, better parks, better national parks. Fresno is nothing special.

Fresno is one of several test cities in the country. My parents got one of those first Bank-America Cards in 1958. Before then each store had their own credit cards. And smaller stores did not even have credit. Bank America Card is now Visa.
I grew up in Fresno and I didn't know the credit card story.
Bo Darville awesome! Thanks for watching.
thanks for the video! I don't know what blue checkmark on twitter you pissed off, but you deserve more views!
Seb E haha! Thanks for watching!
Cabalen Journeys wow fascinating! I didn't realize that!

Some Where I recommend to go in Fresno is underground garden and another place is the Big Fresno Fair when it’s open but yes Fresno belongs to Central Valley
FreSnO , Is CENTRAL VALLEY; in the heart of CALIFORNIA.... 🎶❤️🎵.......
It's kind of strange to do something about a county , that people don't know exist. I live here and it's nice to learn about something, that people use a lot when purchasing an item.
He said you don’t think of Fresno when you think of Yosemite lol when Yosemite is like right next to Fresno
The hottest time of the year is June through August. Average Summer temp is 99-103, but it can get upwards of 105-110 in mid-Summer.
I would highly recommend if you're ever coming back to go see the Forestiere Underground Gardens. Also shows you a lot about Fresno's history and the place is absolutely breath-taking.
Let’s see recommended places “city lights” “gold diggers” and “parkway ave” lol have fun
Don't forget Motel Drive lol
If you do ever go back to Fresno-- go during the spring for the Blossom Trail. Summer had the Taco Truck showdown (pre-covid) which was fun.
The video is correct. Fresno was, is, and has always been a "test market." I remember in the early 70s they tested a new method of listening to music --- the Cassette --- far before other markets.
Born and raised here in Fresno, CA. Crazy to see how big it's gotten. Over a million people in the metro area
About a million county-wide, but 600-650 thousand in the Fresno city limits.
@@911NightRanger wrong. Fresno has approximately 540,000 people within the city limits. Please check your facts.
Dont forget the amazing fishing area here in Fresno
Fresno, the place where it’s good to say “I used to live there”. lol
3:26 - 3:33 is near a Dollar Store :D
I lived in Fresno for over 18 years and im only 1-2 miles away from that store
Just wondering how that Fresno aquarium is going?
Still fundraising, and just that lonely sign off the 99.
Southern California starts at North Fork, 30 miles north of Fresno.
And we invented the modern landfill process of containing harmful trash
They always say Fresno is Northern California, but it just isn’t. It’s always been a part of Central California, the area from Modesto to Bakersfield.
Bureaucracy would rather have everyone think it’s part of Northern California, but we are our own metropolis that is large enough to stand on its own just like LA and SF.
I live here and didn't know about this
Forestiere Underground Gardens is incredible.
Underrated channel
plenty of lakes surrounding, Floating from Sanger to Reedley lots of outdoor stuff we dont take advantage of due to heat
Fresno is central California. Or true California depending on how you decide the geographical areas. From Bakersfield to Modesto, the entire width of the valley, can be called Central California. From the “grapevine” heading south is what you can consider Southern California only. We’re different people completely
Not many people agree, but Fresno is the best place to live in California.
RangerTim28 because it’s not Imfao
It’s not.... at all
We're above being designated with either Northern or Southern California.
I live here and just got schooled nice video bro thanks !!!
Peter awesome, thanks for watching!
My favorite place Fresno and Olive my old stomping ground
My favorite spot in Fresno is in the rear view mirror heading back down south.
What city do you live in?
@@FPOAK Santa Clarita
@@Duricas Oh ok, that makes sense. I'd imagine many people raised in a type of city like Santa Clarita would feel uncomfortable in Fresno.
Type of City?
So despite what the "gang members say" I have to go with history.
bruh its neither ITS CEN CAL FOE LIFE YOU KNOW
chris putler 🤣👍 thanks!
Central California is how we identify 👌🏼
1:54 my street where I live lol
Love Fresno❤️❤️
hi everyone since i am planning to move to Fresno but i am little hesitate about the crime situation can someone give me updated info please online review is different then in person experience
Wow, my hometown helped contribute to this debt crisis we have in our nation. Unbelievable. Shame. But great videography.
V S #TheMoreYouKnow thanks for watching!
lovely video.
and I thought no one knew Fresno and I’m still surprised that the Tessa brooks is from Fresno...
We are Central Cali wtf you thought dude?
Nice job................
I'm surprised he didn't mention Club One.
I used to to work at that Popeyes on McKinley and First
I remember when that Popeye's used to be Pioneer Chicken!
I just bought a house here, I lived in San Jose for 10 years, and moved to Houston for 4 years, but end up bought a house in Fresno, hope it's less crime than Houston TX
Never heard of this little town. Sounds cool.
This little town has 500,000+ residents! We've been forgotten by much of the State
It’s really not that little.
Closer to 700K
We not little at all Bruh #559
@@geospaceangler5373 no it’s 540,000
Peace & Blessings
I believe my City Can Be Major city As Sf & LA I feel They need to just rebuild more to downtown area Put the mall back up or Basketball team some record labels amusement parks etc add some Attraction to Fresno So when tourist come to the city they can leave with great things to say about the city
Fresno is the forgotten city of California. The most important of the valley but that's like saying the biggest shrimp
The 5 is dead maybe that's why people dont visit as much as the coast and the 101
mr.potato head Fresno sucks. Tulare county is the most important. Agriculture is stronger there and don’t forget the World Ag, which draws more visitors to Tulare than Fresno ever has combined.
Orlando Nunez never heard of Tulare, where is it?
Check out Forestiere Gardens, the ultimate DIY villa for an unbelievably hard working and devout Christian with a lot of Mole DNA. INCREDIBLE! Out on W. Shaw not far from US 99.
💯👌😎👌💯
Its southern/central
The foothills ne of fresno 40_60 miles away is actually the geographical center of California so fresno is south of center
With as hot as it was you should have went to the underground garden.
MY FAVORITE PLACE TO GO HERE IN TOWN IS A PLACE CALLED FAB... NOT BECAUSE ITS FUN BUT BECAUSE ITS EXTREMELY FABOULOUS!!!!
Central Cali! 🙌
for a city with like 650,000 people it’s pretty boring. we have one of the best universities in the country, Woodward Park, and probably the best zoo west of the rockies, but thats about it
it’s only really interesting if ur a local with a car, and disposable income
Fresno has a population of 540,000 not 650,000!
Home sweet home
The only thing I like about Fresno is Retail and Thrift Store Shopping! Too Hot in Summer Poverty Mass Immigration Crime did i say Poverty! Great Video Sincerely Thomas Raymond Fresno California!
Fresno is Central Valley. I literally live here
Fresno is on the palm side of the pine and the palm

I'm seeing other comments against da portia gang n their quietphobia comments n I agree, but this a nice video btw
Yes Fresno is concider Nor Cal. Come stay at the La Quinta by Wyndham Madera. It is the newest top hotel in medera just opened and beating out Hilton and marriot on all websites. Just FYI!
Erock Gman Fresno is not considered NorCal wtf are you talking about? It’s the Central Valley dumb ass. I’m from the Central Valley. Stop calling Fresno NorCal.
You mad it look alot cleaner then it actually is hahaha
Haha glad I could help Fresno out. Thanks for watching. 🤘🏻

My home!
YALL I SAW MY SCHOOL DURING THIS 😂😂😂😂
When I think of Fresno, which isn't often, I think of the mini-series Fresno in the 1980s, I think. A Spanish explorer eats something, which disgusts him and he spits it out saying "That tastes like Fresno". :)
Fresno is neither northern or southern, We're central california. Any real Cali bred fools know that theres not 2 parts of Cali but 3, Nor-Cal; So-Cal; and CEN-CAL!!!
If you are averse to heat, anytime between July and October is a bad time to come to Fresno. It gets hot and then it stays hot well into the fall.
Actually madera ca is the geographical center of California
Fresno belongs to central California
The Unsociables thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
Its not either, it's central California
Fresno is neither Southern or Northern Valley. Fresno is Central Valley. And we always get robbed by the state's government and super rich people. Fresno could have been an upgraded city decades ago, but business ties with government had greed made them shift the money to more popular cities. Anyways, 559 still have the goods for cheaper prices.
