  • Helloooooo everyone, it’s been a while!
Last week I was asked to Ferry a Cessna 206 from Mannheim Germany to Midden-Zeeland in the Netherlands. We had a blast!!
It was my first time traveling again since the outbreak of Corona, and Maurits and I carefully followed the Dutch and German safety regulations during our trip.
Follow along as we head down to Germany by train, to pick up one of my favorite planes and fly her back along a breathtaking route. Enjoy!!
Thanks to Paracentrum Texel for allowing me to ferry their aircraft: www.paracentrumtexel.nl

    - Departure EDFM 11:35
    - Low Approach EDDK 14:12
    - Eindhoven CTR crossing 16:38
    - Military Airbase Crossing Gilze-Rijen 18:01
    - Landing EHMZ 19:17

Nice one Bambi!!! The smile on your face during the low approach in Cologne is priceless! I'm also very happy to hear how positive and reactive the German controllers were! Well done! Keep on doing what you're doing!

@@PilotBambi I was really impressed with the ATC offering you a low approach and circuit over the cathedral. If there's one good thing happening with the current COVID 19 situation is that you can do some things you probably couldn't do as easily under normal circumstances. Too bad you couldn't take him up on the cathedral fly over, but the airport fly by was great!

Haha that tower controller at EDDK... perfect example of an accommodating controller who probably was bored as heck due to COVID and got excited as soon as you requested lower :D
Kind of like "uuuhhh.... she want's to check out the airport, do a low approach then if you like"
And then "mh.... I don't want her to leave the CTR yet, so why not a couple of circles overhead the Cologne Cathedral" :D

@@BoomerKeith1 Actually low approaches and circles overhead the cathedral are quite common on scenic rides you can book from the nearby Bonn-Hangelar airfield. Back in the 1980s I delivered a Piper PA-18 (Super Cub) from Colorado to Austria. It was a solo flight with a 32 gallon (~110 Liter) tank in the back seat. You just have to convince yourself that all that water down there is Kansas.

I love the scenery & your narration! Not to mention your smile.
30+ years in Ketchikan (KTN), Alaska, USA, starting in 1974. It's the Panhandle, South East AK, on Tongass Narrows. Walking the waterfront, it seemed like every 5th business was a charter service - all float planes. Alaska Airlines partially originated there. Originally, most floats were 2-bladed. Town was on hillside. 2-blades made so much noise on takeoff, Echoing off hillside, town had to stop conversation if you were in line with the take-off path, even on phone (landline). My wife's school, the classes on water side were interrupted for a takeoff, teachers and students (grade school) automatically paused talk. Busiest water in Alaska, busier than Anchorage's (ANC) Lake Hood. The tower at the airport didn't control the water, and float planes, unless they were landing at the concrete. The usual suspects, like Cessna, but the thrill was the Grummans: Goose were common, there were Ducks, and one Skunk. 3-blade props were so much quieter, they eventually became mandatory. Beavers were all over the place - the heavy haulers. The pilots often gave you ear phones so you could listen - especially on flightseeing charters. The wife did the flights to all the remote places (even homesteads) for one Census - she had a ball. Flew in cloudy weather - clear day too much turbulence, the pilots said. Tourists resulted in "summer pilots", unfamiliar with terrain & weather, resulted in some tragedies, but one of the most beautiful places in the world. Fjords like Norway in Temperate Rainforest with backdrop of permanent snow/glacier mountains (The Coast Range). No helo-sking that I remember. Now, most charter services closed as fishing declined and logging disappeared. You'd love it! Don't miss a chance, if it comes your way. If float plane with wheels and your don't have float endorsement, few runways /airports, so weather is critical. I love the water take-offs and landing. Funny stories of tourist's reactions.
Am on the Kenai (ENA) Peninsula in Alaska, now. So many private strips, hard to count. 60 air miles from Anchorage, on Cook Inlet, occasionally active volcanos. Redoubt is 35 miles from us - majestic. Was here for last 2 eruptions. collected minor ash. Ash is grit - can destroy internal combustion engine, does dire things to jet turbines. Regular Notams if eruptions. Can see Spur and Iliamna. Mountains: Coastal range, the Kenai, Chugach range, etc. For Volcanos and fabulous photos, recommend AVO.edu (Alaska Volcano Observatory) - whole Ring of Fire for the state. Would that be a ferry flight! Just wait for our government to change.

Nice low approach at EDDK, next to my beloved homebase EDKB. We definateley have the coolest controllers in the tower. Did that several times with guests, always the same reaction. Love it so much.

Love your channel!! it's a cool addition to all the existing ones!! If you could subtitle your communications with ATC it would surely help a lot of foreign pilots (like me) that work to improve their english radio skills (I guess many viewers like me also watch these videos for that purpose).. Sometime it's so hard to grasp what the tower is saying...
Keep the freshness flowing and congrats!!

Hello, Bambi. I am sure that flight was no fun at all. All work and no play make Maurits a dull boy. Very interesting flight. Thanks for sharing! Stay healthy!
