    The Tibeto-Burman languages are the non-Sinitic members of the Sino-Tibetan language family, over 400 of which are spoken throughout the highlands of Southeast Asia as well as certain parts of East Asia and South Asia. Around 60 million people speak Tibeto-Burman languages, around half of whom speak Burmese, and 13% of whom speak Tibetic languages. The name derives from the most widely spoken of these languages, namely Burmese (over 35 million speakers) and the Tibetic languages (over 8 million). These languages also have extensive literary traditions, dating from the 12th and 7th centuries respectively. Most of the other languages are spoken by much smaller communities, and many of them have not been described in detail.
    Though the division of Sino-Tibetan into Sinitic and Tibeto-Burman branches (e.g. Benedict, Matisoff) is widely accepted, van Driem has claimed that Tibeto-Burman languages do not have shared innovations and, therefore, do not comprise a clade.
    If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.

    Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Finally the language family my language belongs to 😭😭❤️
    Btw Sümi/Sema is only one of the many languages of the Naga Family. It contains 65 to 250 languages depending on your definition of a language and a dialect.
    But amazing work Andy. Keep up the good work ❤️
    Edit: I am an Ao Naga and speak the Mongsen language or dialect, one of the 3 major tongues of the Aos ;with each region or in some case, villages, having different forms of said tongues which are sometimes difficult to understand each other ✌🏻😆

    • @mitismee
      @mitismee ปีที่แล้ว +6

      because Japanese had Sino tibetan influence in the past, also the way Kiranti people pronounce it that way is because most likely their language also have alot of vowel in each word like " a,i , u , e, o " and japanese also need vowel in each word , so maybe that's why there'll be similarity between those 2 language , at least the way they interpret the sino-tibetan counting system.

    I would like to make a clarification that Tibetic (also known as Bodish) languages does NOT mean 'Tibetan'. The three languages spoken by ethnic Tibetans is Lhasa (also known as U-tsang), Amdo and Kham 'dialects' (but realistically they can be considered three different languages). Ethnic Monpas, Rong, Lhopa (tribes such as the Nyishi and Tani), some Kirati (most notably the Yakthung), Ladakhis, Changpas, Baltis and Lauhili/Spiti (among many others) speak "Tibetic" or "Bodish" languages but are NOT ethnically Tibetan.

      Yakthum along with Khambu Rai languages & a few other outliers like Yakkha & Koinch Sunuwar; All fall under one big family; Essentially, the same language descended from ancient proto-sino-tibetan; But, yeah; We're not influenced by Tibetan Buddhism; But our neighbours became heavily influenced.

      Except Koinch Sunuwar & maybe a few other languages in our family; The Kirati languages are free of tones.
