The Bob 57 is really a nice drone, been flying it for a couple of months now, coming from a nazgul 5' I had to adjust a bit but now woulndt like to go back for an all-rounder drone
i have the same controller setup as you and thinking abt getting the bob57. Just wondering did you have to update the crsf module or the drone, or was it allready good to go, thanks man just nervous lol
My buddy purchased the plug and play version with no receiver. I installed the crsf receiver for him. I think as long as the module and receiver are close to the same firmware version they will bind like normal with no issues. but TBS makes it really easy to update the module and receivers using there web update method. there are instructions on TBS website and plenty of videos on youtube that should help you get it done if needed. 👍
I assume you have m10 GPS module. How do you find it? Mine takes forever to get a fix. Im not sure it's the vtx antennas being on the way causing it or the module isn't just the best. Still testing
GPS is an m8 but m10 are good too. The best way to get lots of sats quickly is to power the gps only without the vtx interfering. i have a video briefly explaining this. just solder the gps power wire to a usb powered pad like a 3v3 or 4v5 and power the FC, that will give power to only the FC and gps and maybe the receiver but not the vtx. then let it sit for 1 min without overheating the non powered vtx and you will have plenty of sats. th-cam.com/video/nRyKwO8pHH0/w-d-xo.html
I believe its 4.3. and settings are guard time for stage 2 is 1.2 seconds // angle 40 // initial altitude 50 // decent distance 50 // minimum distance to home 100 // ground speed 16 (which is like 35-40 mph) // throttle min 1100 // throttle max 1700 // throttle hover 1280 ( I think this is default betaflight) // Ascend rate 8 // descend rate 1.50 // minimum satellites 6 // allow arming without fix ( for when you wanna fly and don't need gps rescue) Altitude mode current altitude ( depends on the terrain your flying max alt might work better) and sanity checks failsafe only.
Yes, I never saw the message in my limited time flying it but he would tell me every so often that he was getting a message about overheating the air unit. It would stay on for 10-20 seconds and go away. Very hot days like 85-90.
@@andrewmedia3568 interesting...how do you get a warning for vtx temp in betaflight? is he referring to core temp warning? if so that is the FC temp warning not vtx..i was looking for something to display vtx temp but dont see anything in betaflight
@@TwinTurboFX the warning is for the vtx/o3 because it’s being displayed by the goggles and not by betaflight. In the same way the o3 or goggles display air unit in “low power mode” until you arm the drone.
@@andrewmedia3568 o really? o wow that never popped up for me..,didnt kno it did that. when that did pop up was that like when it was armed just sitting waiting for sats or something...not during fllight right? asking all this cuz im strongly considering it but a bit concerned about o3 being enclosed in there. i have a few quads with o3 so i kno how hot it gets.
@@TwinTurboFX it was during flight about a mile out. If you want the drone but are worried about about the o3 over heating you can just run it without the side covers like a normal drone. Will be less weight and won’t have over heating issues.
I dont think you can set the exact altitude but I could be wrong. the options are fixed altitude, which sounds like setting the altitude.. but I use either (current altitude) which is RTH at the current altitude during failsafe or when you hit RTH. And (max Altitude) will go to the max altitude you went to during the flight for Failsafe/RTH on a switch.
th-cam.com/video/Xa28FebZOyc/w-d-xo.html this video link is where I got all my gps rescue settings. some of my settings are slightly different because of weight or preference but this should help you out.

What editing are you using?
I am using Davinci Resolve.
What is the best controller you would recommend for the bob57?
I use the RadioMaster Boxer for all my quads. Its priced well for all the features it has and its a nice size. Not to big but not to small.

What batteries are you guys running on BOB57?
GnB 1500mAh 6s pack. And some larger 3000mAh 6s packs.

any sign of the o3 air unit overheating or issues with it being fully enclosed in that bob57 frame?
