I got the 12" CompVT in 2008 in the prefabricated box. Originally I had it in my S-10, where the box slid completely into the corner, where the driver fired directly into the seat. It sounded awesome! I put it in my Ford Ranger, that has speakers in the cab corners, couldn't mount it exactly behind the seat. It never sounded right. I could never turn up the subwoofer setting very much on the head unit, before I'd hear distortion. So, about a month ago, I got a huge pillow and placed it on the woofer, with the grille of course, and it sounds perfect! I can jam it up again, crank up the sub level, no hearing distortion. Thumps. It said when I got it, that it was designed to fire into the seat. At Crutchfield, they even added that into the product description at the time. I've seen people take those subs and mount them in hatchbacks. I doubt they sound right.
What is the frequency tune on this box? Just purchased one and connecting it to the 500.1. The amp instructions say to set the high pass filter to one octave below box tune freq. no material found yet showing this frequency. Thanks

You would usually use a mono amp, in this case you would want an amp stable to 1 ohm since you have two, 2 ohm enclosures. Wire them in parallel, creating the 1 ohm load previously mentioned. I know this is a year old but does anybody sell those dust caps I’m trying to find some dust caps for my 12” kicker cvt from like the early 2000s I thik or late 90s not sure as they were handed down to me from my dad
cxa800.1 if ur absolutely set on buying a Kicker amp.. spend the money on that 800-1000w and you can always turn it down until you upgrade to a stronger sub

Just put one in my ram 1500 sounds great. Really filled out the stock radio.

You can face it in another direction, but it will perform differently depending on how it is installed. We designed it to face downward.

Unfortunately no, we don't sell parts. You might try a re-coner, but the parts will not be original.
