It’s not the guns fault, but there are so many and such poor laws in place to control them that 14 and 15 year olds can get their grimy hands on them with ease. That’s the issue people have and what frustrates people to blame “the guns”.

@@mgivens8844 Some of us don't come from less. Where you live can determine a lot. I'm a black American that was raised in the country. I had my father, mother, aunts & uncles that helped raise me. I've seen others in my family struggle ( mostly single mothers) but my brothers, sisters, & I didn't. Maybe it's because my mom chose a damn good blackman to marry not just have kids with. I totally see the difference in those I know with 2 involved parents than those raised by their mothers. Where you're raised also determines a lot. The school system for one is different. I wasn't writing the first comment to be disrespectful but statistics say you & your kids are outliers in the so called black community. Just like nowadays having 2 productive & involved black parents.

Same here. My brother and I fought like savages. We gave each other several black eyes, but we never got a gun to fight with.
We grew up in the 80s and 90s, so we had a lot of freedom as well as responsibilities. The one rule we followed was to treat every gun as if it were loaded. Therefore, when handling or carrying a weapon, it was never pointed at a person or anything you couldn't afford to shoot. I treated them as being loaded even when I cleaned them. Still do.

That is the most depressing Christmas story I have ever heard. The whole thing is absolutely insane, shooting your sister while she is holding her baby, just because she wants to calm down and think about your actions. People will use this as an excuse to take guns, but if government ever made gun ownership illegal criminals who act like these two boys will find a way to keep their guns and everyone around them who is unarmed will just be more at risk.

These boys didn't buy these guns, they are stolen. Gun owners have got to secure their weapons. Don't leave them in your car or on your nightstand. Everyone may say I should be able to leave my gun where I want to . True but these are the consequences. Would you leave your child in the car knowing someone can come along & take him or her? Surely not.
When you do secure your gun at home dont let everyone know where it is. My ex husband's teenage daughter told her thug by where dad kept his gun knowing he was going to take it.
Most of these kids have a criminal record by the time they're old enough to purchase a gun. They would need to find someone willing to buy it for them or steal one. Don't make it easy for these ¡d¡ots

The problem is that you are an American looking at other Americans. Your viewpoint is entirely insular. To someone like me, in a country with sensible gun ownership laws and very few gun crimes on the news (certainly not on a daily basis), your willingness to ignore the obvious benefits of gun control are crazy. What would have happened if neither of the boys had guns in the first place. A fist fight most likely. No-one dead, no-one going to prison for the rest of their lives, no freshly minted orphans. Kids with guns is a recipe for people making rash decisions in the heat of the moment, and the consequences are instantaneous and irreversible.
But to address the common argument "you take away all the guns, then just the bad people will have them". This is a big problem, and the only reason you have it is because Americans have let gun culture rule unchecked for too long. Its like a junkie addicted to smack. "Look, if you take away my drugs i will be in so much pain from the withdrawals, so you can't possibly expect me to quit". Thats not an attitude that produces new outcomes, just more of the same. The best bet is to have treated its addiction decades ago, like what happened in my country of Australia. You implement sensible policies, buy backs, background checks, etc. Yes, you will go through a withdrawal period just like someone coming off drugs. It will hurt. But in the long run you will be better off for it, you just need to accept that it will take time. Doing nothing, thats the option of the weak. Just like a junkie strung out on the side of the road deserves some scorn if they are unwilling to make the changes needed to get well.

To think that they are so quick to use those guns against members of their own family is even more unbelievable. Where the hell are their parents? Where did they get those guns? I guarantee they are stolen. An argument (tantrum) over who got the most Christmas presents ends with their sister dead, her children motherless, one brother in the hospital after being shot by his own brother, and the last one going to prison for murder. I have lost my faith in humanity too. Kevin and Keith, thank you for shedding light on this. People need to hear this. There is such a moral rot in society today. I get, maybe, needing to be when you are out in the neighborhood(depending on where you are) but what in the hell were they doing "strapped" while celebrating Christmas with their family! People always say it's a lack of parenting that causes problems and that is true for some youths but black youths are different. First off, they're youths and this society has produced some screwed up youths, But black youths are much different. Black youths are aggressive, excessively violent and highly uneducated so sometimes basic understanding is void in them. Much of what I know about the black culture is what I hear them say and what they're saying is all that mumbo jumbo about slavery that is so embellished its astonishing how much it effects them. Slavery existed, slavery was horrible but the magnification of slavery is crippling. Black youths grow up in a unique culture that is filled with many things I would never allow my children to experience or even hear...black youths should be taught to look towards the future and not backwards to their doom..

Needless to say I had never in 13 years of going to that theater seen such carnage. 1. Single Mother
      2. Victim is also a Single Mother (the reason she was at the Grandmother’s house was to drop off her children while she went to work)
      3. Where did the guns come from and why didn’t the Mom know . She has no control no Father
      4. Mental Health and emotional health from not having a Dad and they probably have different Fathers ie why one got more than the other.
The only difference in other Black families with single parent households is no guns if there was this would be something that happened way more often.

Fourteen and fifteen? I thought they were in their late 20s. Where are the adults in their lives? You can't tell me that not one adult around them didn't know what they were doing. My son was 19 when he graduated High School. I went through his book bag every few days. I told him, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, MOVE OUT OF MY HOUSE." I also went through his draws and Closets in his room. I don't care how some people think it was evasion of privacy. My house, my rules. My son is now 33. He knows not to bring anything illegal into my home. I taught him right. Some people said, "He fears you." My thought exactly. If he fears his mother, he'll fear other authorities. My son don't drink, dont use drugs, or smoke. He know's how to respect other people. Especially older adults. We may not always see eye to eye, but I raised my son right.
