DJI Air 2S: legends never die | Mini 4 Pro & Air 3

- It's been 3 Years since the Air 2S has been released. I've had this Drone for over 2 years and I'm still impressed by it's capabilities today.
I have flown it in so many different locations and environments that, in this video I share my thoughts on why I think this is still a great drone to have, and how it compares to the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3.
I'm also a new user of Air 2s from Indonesia.

Couldn't agree more. Watching your video made me check DJI's website and I noticed that they are no longer selling the Air 2S. But as long as I can still buy batteries for it and the app supports it, I be flying it for a long time to come.
Yeah it’s a shame they've discontinued it, but still a great drone nontheless. I'm sure DJI will keep supporting this drone for a while :)

Air2s is the jack of all trades superior camera. Hopefull someone can make a higher capacity battery for air2s
It's a great drone for sure. 🙌 A stronger battery would be awesome, but not sure if that would be possible.
I was very close to trading in my Air 2S for an Air 3 BUT, I held back and I am still impressed by it.
Good choice, it's still a great drone and you saved a few bucks!

Good vibes there buddy. When you lose connections and why it comes back is that you have set your parameters on the settings to RTH that's why it comes back to you. BUt if you set it to Hover, then you will feel how it will stay up in the air and after draining all juice , will force land. So it's always good to set to RTH when connection is lost. Great video though.
Yeah of course, always set RTH, otherwise you will most likely lose your drone.
Nice one! I have the Air 2S and the Mini 4 Pro (and the Mavic 2 Zoom), and now that the Air 2S is C1 compliant, I gladly use it as much as the Mini. It really is so good and reliable. Oh, and the Air 2S weighs almost 600 grammes (595 I think), so the difference to the Air 3 (720) isn't really huge...

How do you find the image quality when compared with the Mini 4 Pro?
I absolutely agree with you! From my experience, the air 2s has even better image quality than the mavic 3 and the air3. The mavic 3 has a terrible lens with blurry spots and oversharpend video and the air 3 has much less detail than the 5,4k from the air2s. At this moment, i believe there is no drone with better image quality.
Absolutely, i love this drone so much, it's well balance, fast enough and sturdy while keeping great image quality and decent size. I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon, unless something happens.

@@floatingrabbit3556 I‘ve had the Mavic 3 for one year and its pretty obvious that its camera has a lot of problems, because I never saw a 4/3 sensor in such a small body. Of course the lens is bad. The lack of sharpening and noise reduction control makes it even worse, because both are set very high.

That was a super video, thank you! I have the Air2S and the Mini 3 Pro, I prefer the A2S but the mini is quieter for low level flights. The best thing about the A2S is the new C1 classification, so if you have the A2 CoC you're good to go (anywhere). Subbed and looking forward to more content. Cheers!

As someone who has owned both I can confirm that the Air 2S is a great drone. But the Air 3 is far superior. If you can afford the Air 3 it’s worth it.
Yeah the Air 3 seems amazing but the Air 2S is still a beast and its perfect for my needs.

My 2S batteries are puffing after these years... I think I'll get a Mavic 3 Classic.
@@alpenfoxvideo7255 batteries are cheap for this drone, maybe you can consider saving some money and getting those, if you're still satisfied with your Air 2S!

I have the air2s but wanted to get another one either mini 4 pro or air 3 i travel a lot! Cant decide!
If you want portability and less restrictions, go with the Mini. If you want better image quality and wind resistance, definitely get the Air 3!
@@fabvisions i kept comparing image quality thru some youtube videos and mini 4 pro quality is really good in some videos better then air 3 so its hard to decide as i will be keeping the air 2s as well

bro, excellent video. I have some questions, I would be very grateful if you could help me, please. Did you use any ND filter? or anti-reflective? Tips for recording outdoors when there is a lot of sun? How do you know if the image is properly exposed? Your shots on the beach were very beautiful, thank you and excuse me for so many questions.

Yes, i always use ND filters, and to properly expose my image, i usually follow the 180 shutter degree rule (shutter speed double the frame rate) using the correct ND filter. A bright sunny day with the shutter speed at 50, ND32 Is usually the minimum i go for.
I sometimes use the histogram to check my exposure and a quick tip I can give you is to point your drone with your hand at the area you want to film and see how it looks on screen. Or make a quick flight and come back down and change the ND If you need too. 👍

I'd love to, but unfortunately I don't have the Avata 2. I do have the DJI FPV, which I've flown in some of these locations like Madeira. I actually have a short film about it, take a look at my channel If you're interested in watching that. 🙂
5.4k 30fps is something major but my question is about mega pixel why does the mini 4 have more and if mega pixel makes a difference?? And what is the diff???
While the Mini has more megapixels it doesn't exactly mean it outputs better image quality. More megapixels are great when you intend to do heavy cropping on photos or large printing. If you aren't doing any of those things then, the 20MP from the Air 2S are more than enough. 👍

Thanks for the video and the concise messages. I have a Dji mini (first version) and I am considering moving to a new dron. I can find air 2s in 500-600 euros in Spanish second hand market with fly more combo. Do you think that it is a good deal now? Thanks

I want to buy a DJI drone for the first time and I see many positive reactions about the Air 2S. Is a remote controller with screen available like de Mini4 Pro?
I have been searching on how to color grade footage from this drone and I can't seem to find something that works. What is your process? Do you use special LUTS?
Hey thanks for commenting! I actually use different LUTs for different clips depending on the look I'm going for. 👍
My workflow is usually converting to REC 709 first and then grade the footage using a LUT, vignettes, changing colors sometimes and all that stuff. I'll consider doing a tutorial in the future.

The Air 2S is an amazing drone, I too flew it in difficult conditions in many places outside India for 2.10 months and finally in Isle of Sky I lost it, being too confident that it will beat the wind and it did not, it got pulled into the ocean wind and could never come back. Have a video in my page how I lost it. I bought the Air 3 recently but still crib for my Air 3S for its 1 inch sensor.

The quality of video is much better with 10 bit D-log. Is this a setting or do you crop after shooting?
It's a setting, you need to choose that profile first before shooting.
Thanks you! I also have the same opinion as you guys about the Air 2s being very good, but am I worried that updating the firmware from the manufacturer will reduce the image performance of the Air 2s?
@@haonam5341 as far as I know, i don't think doing a firmware update will decrease image performance....

Some breath taking shots out there 😍 do you shoot Log footage ? And how do you hanlde noise in hdr condisions like sunrise / sunset ?
@@Abhishekmshetty thank you 🙌. Yeah I shoot everything in D-Log 10 bit, it gives me more dynamic range and more flexibility in color grading. I don't usually find myself struggling with noise in sunrise/sunset, but if I have too much noise, I will use noise reduction in post production! 👍

Another bonus with the Air 3 is the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 fits directly inside the Air 3 without needed an external holder like the Mini 4 pro needs to use the Dongle .

I couldn't agree more with you. I own both drones, and I love the Air 3, but the Air 2s has been a great, solid drone for me all along. I have to say that your a stunning video shooter with a drone. Absolutely beautiful and well shot footage. Marc T.
