    Great video as always! Its kind of crazy how just as am about to embark in this journey and find out which surgery is right for me, you release all these absolutely amazing videos. Oh and the time stamps are the cherry on top! Thank you again Dr. Lee, we all appreciate these videos very much!

      By the way if you see this comment, I was just wondering if by calling all these procedures "VBT" does that mean they are not "ASC" or is the ASC procedure considered under the VBT umbrella. Sorry just a little confused about that one, thanks!

      Thanks for the kind comment! I'm happy that you are finding these interviews informative. That's the main reason I decided to interview surgeons directly. Collect accurate information directly from the spine surgeons so parents/patients can make more informed decisions.

      @@SuperL00k Both VBT and ASC (Anterior Scoliosis Correction) use tethering but they use a different surgical approach. VBT typically uses a minimally invasive thoracoscopic approach where 4-6 small incisions (holes) are used to access the chest cavity and spine. ASC uses a mini-open technique which uses a longer incision to give greater access to the chest cavity and spine. Hope that makes sense. :)

    Thank you for the presentation and associated data. I am interested in learning more about surgeons and the number of VBT surgeries performed. Does a database exist that provides this information?

    • @DerekLee
      @DerekLee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no database that lists the number of VBT surgeries performed by each surgeon. However, Dr. Lonner has likely performed VBT's in the hundreds.

    Thanks for the great interview Dr Lee. Were Dr Lonner's comments about osteotomies in relation to tethering or fusion for idiopathic scoliosis?

    • @DerekLee
      @DerekLee  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fusion I believe.

    This was fantastic, Thank you Dr. Lee! Cant VBT be used to correct Scoliosis and Kyphosis?

    • @DerekLee
      @DerekLee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, VBT is a non-fusion technique used to correct scoliosis. VBT is not as applicable for severe kyphosis. Definitely check with your health care provider/team for applications for individual cases.
